  1. I would guess either Scales or thin LOK grips. I've seen someone mill out base pads, but I don't really see a reason to. I've seen plenty of DPP S2s make weight for CO with extended BPs.
  2. Mini IPSC targets: I actually did okay on the stage with offhand shooting (only , but these misses were all from just standing positions.
  3. It is important for classifiers though! My classifier scores often suck, but I keep up with A/B shooters in actual stages.
  4. Maybe this might give you a better idea of my accuracy: This was from testing loads, but honestly I don't know if I was really aiming for the same spot every time since the target was way too small at 50 yards. I tried my best to aim at the same position. This was from bench with sandbags. I'll take another look at the CMMG kit then for shooting <25 yards. Honestly, I'm still surprised I had so many misses on the targets, but I didn't get a chance to see where they were exactly, if they were in the black or not on paper at all.
  5. Gotcha. Unfortunately it would probably take me 100 rounds to hit a target a 400 yards 5 times It's been tough to go shoot with school since my range is 30 minutes away, and the bays are only open in the afternoon when it's most likely to rain. Would you say there's any benefit in training at 25 yards in terms of improving accuracy rather than speed? Or is 50 yards the minimum to really test rifle skills?
  6. I almost bought the $200 conversion kit from CMMG a month ago, but I decided against it because it seemed like the .22LR would be insanely dirty? I didn't want to get an AR-22 since they would be weighted differently from my AR and felt it would be a pretty big change between the two. It also seemed like a lot of the BE users who had the CMG kits ended up selling them. I'll have to reevaluate it since I've "upgraded" my 223 ammo to a 75gr Hornady bullet which is double the cost of the 55gr hoser ammo I've been loading. How much ammo would you normally shoot in a session? Would you say 50 is enough?
  7. 11.5 runs everything for me. I think it goes for most owners as well. You have to run the extended FP combo with it though.
  8. If you double plug then the removal of earwax is generally enough. While earwax does reduce sound levels, it won’t reduce as much as a plug. I got a much deeper seat in my ear cans after cleaning my ears, and I can comfortably use just plugs when I shoot outdoors (no open guns). The Db is true since it’s averaged across all frequencies and you don’t need reduction at higher frequencies with shooting like you would with say a concert type plug. My plan when I get more money is to get some custom plugs and then I can always double up on top of those if needed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yup! Duty is the way to go. Haven't heard any reports of the Duty having problems. The DW Discretion is my favorite DW. Quite a bit more expensive than a SA 1911 though (comes with the appropriate upgrades too). I'd recommend you take a look at Les Baers as well.
  10. Back when I was looking into 1911s, I ended up at the same conclusion for the Dan Wessons. The only other 1911 I was really considering was the Sig Sauer Max Michel. Though it should be noted that the DW Stainless finish wears quite quickly.
  11. Completely agree. I walk away when I see an open shooter indoors.
  12. Can you share some pics? Green corrosion on the board has me wondering. Increased resistance could drain the batteries faster if the electronics are pulling more current to get the same effect.
  13. I think my range has an Appleseed event this Fall. I haven't shot my rifle much because of ammo, but I just bought components to load 2000 rounds so hopefully I'll shoot more. I think I was shooting the dot wrong and was trying to let it settle on the target, but I should just shoot as soon as the dot crosses onto the target.
  14. Just ordered 2lbs of Sport Pistol, looking forward to trying it out!
  15. This brings up a question I've had about # times loaded. With 9mm, I've never really cared when it comes to range pick ups. How do you treat the unmarked brass since it could have been reloaded 5 times by someone else or it could be once fired? I don't sort by headstamp so accuracy isn't really a concern for me. I've only really been throwing out brass that's clearly unusable such as massive dents or torn casings.
  16. Sale is up now! Quite a few on sale, N320 for $23 a lb after rebate.
  17. Your best bet is still to do some trigonometry and calculate it. You're asking for differences of 0.05" that our eyes really aren't going to be able to tell the difference between 40, 50, or 60% of light. I'd just buy the 0.090" and give it a shot. Should be easy to resell if you don't like it.
  18. I went 0.090" in the Dawson, great option. A lot easier to call your shots with it too compared to OEM front sight. You can calculate it pretty easily, just measure the rear notch width. I don't think any of the front sights will get you a 50% fill as that would call for a really skinny 0.060-0.070" front sight.
  19. I've been very happy with Fiocchi primers. Usually 1500 for $36.
  20. Get chalk or pro grip. You can strengthen your grip all you want, but if you have sweaty hands, nothing will help as much as a grip enhancer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Gotcha. I guess I'll just trim and swage all the brass again then. It's not so much time consuming as much as fatiguing on my fingers from holding the brass in the trimmer that I wanted to avoid. I wish I had a 1050 so I could just easily prep all the brass through a casefeeder rather than doing it by hand!
  22. Awesome! I am planning to make the same upgrade whenever I get a real job (and hopefully I still have time to shoot). Similar plans with 223 on one and 9mm on the other.
  23. Anyone here mark their own brass so that they don't have to retrim and swage every piece of collected range brass? Any suggestions on how to do it? I use an ultrasonic cleaner so I think any permanent marker will likely be removed? Or is that not true.
  24. Why is it pointless? If by chance the item you're interested in has 20% off and $5 rebate then you can get it substantially cheaper. Nice if you don't need larger quantities either. If N320 has both sales, you're getting each bottle at $22ish, extremely cheap.
  25. On sale 20% off at Powder Valley AND $5 rebate on each 1lb bottle. http://www.capstonepg.com/downloads/VV_rebate.pdf N320 is included. Don't knwo about others.
