  1. Unless I'm mis-reading that, Boulder's match is on the 8th and Weld's match is on the 15th. Weld is a bit farther (probably a little over an hour from Erie) but totally worth the trip if you wanted to swing it.
  2. Exactly. I shot Revo Minor in USPSA with a 6 shot for a while. It's fun as long as you're comfortable not being competitive. The only aggravating thing is that there are many classifiers that require 8 shots before a reload so your classification can suffer. I've also shot USPSA with a .44 to get that Major scoring boost. And palm numbness.
  3. That checks out - it looks like it would drive straight into the elevation screw. Thanks again for all the help! I had it apart in seconds last night and got everything snugged up. I managed to NOT lose the springs, too!
  4. Thank you!!! Maybe I'm slow, but what's the Allen screw in the side of the sight for? It doesn't seem to affect anything.
  5. I purchased a complete slide for my 2011 build that has a LPA rear sight. Problem is, it's a little loose. Does anyone have a how-to on installing them? I want to make sure I'm not losing/wrecking anything when I dig into it to tighten it down. Thanks!
  6. Excellent, I'll start around 1.225" - 1.235" and sort it out from there. Thanks! I still don't get how I plunk a magazine!! [emoji14] But yes, I'll absolutely be checking these with my barrel. Just needed a ballpark to work from.
  7. Heyo! Working up my first batch of 38SC (major) using RMR 124gr JHPs. I have a good starting point for my powder charge but no info on COL. Does anyone have one they like? Should I just grab some factory 38 Super and start from there?
  8. REALLY?! It's amazing any revolver still exists...
  9. That's a really good question. I honestly don't remember. When I was loading 5 or less in the mag there weren't any issues. With 15, as far as I remember, the first few shots were fine, and then the mag was jamming through the middle, and the last few shots were fine. That was with my reloads. The Freedom ammo ran straight through, even double and triple taps. I shot all of the reloads I have on-hand so I'm going to shorten the OAL and give it another go. I'll track where the mag freezes this time.
  10. That makes perfect sense, actually. I still have plenty of room in terms of pressure on this load, so I'll try setting the bullet back a little. Great question! As best as I can tell, it's because I'm the second of five children so I'm constantly doing things for attention. (But you're mostly right. I'm already loading .45 and didn't want to add another caliber. I also just like .45 for some reason) All good, but thanks. I hadn't thought to check that! Yeah... I'm not the brightest, but I do know to test with the gun that I'll be shooting . Everything cleared in the 2011. And I only have one mag! This was my test/tune mag and I'll be ordering more soon.
  11. Yup, freshly ordered from Grams. This makes sense – I have a tendency to inadvertently choose the most difficult path, lol. Not the same manufacturer. I'm using Zero, and I believe Freedom uses Xtremes. Difference in OAL is about 1.261" to 1.264" (mine is slightly longer). They're not identical because these loads were initially built and sized for my 1911 while the 2011 was still a frame on the bench . Everything plunks as it should, but how do you plunk test with a magazine, exactly? I bet you're right that it's an OAL issue, though. The nose of the bullet is getting caught and dragging the front of the follower down so shortening things up would hypothetically prevent that. I need to squeeze a little more power from these loads anyhow so I might try dropping to 1.25".
  12. Hello to the people of the large magwell and pricey magazines! I'm venturing into the 2011 waters for the first time. I'm finishing off a 2011 build in 45 ACP and having some issues with my mag. I'm using a STI 140mm tube with Grams guts right now. It works beautifully with factory ammo; I can empty a magazine's worth of Freedom Munitions 230gr hardball as fast as I can pull the trigger. However, when running my reloads (also 230gr hardball, almost identical OAL), the follower has a tendency to dip and cause the rounds to hang up about half an inch beneath the feed lips. I have to bang the magazine on a table to get the rounds moving again. All of the rounds I'm shooting are from my "match" pile, meaning they all passed the case gauge without an issue. Is there something I should be changing in my reloading process? Or is there some sort of mag tuning I can do (like ordering MBX's )? Thanks!
  13. I don't know how I missed this - thanks for the reply! Should I be using the small pistol casefeed plate still? I assume so but figured it didn't hurt to ask.
  14. Can't say it better than that. I use 3.1 grains for my 9mm load and I literally couldn't get it to throw less than perfect without messing with the meter. I love it.
  15. I think I've got it fixed following several issue-free practices and a match. In total: - Beveled the bottom of the extractor - Pulled the Shok Buff - Replaced the 18 lb recoil spring with a 14 lb one - Remembered to slather it with oil before the match Thanks for all the insights!
  16. I searched and found lots of info on basepads but nothing on their magwell. Has anyone used one on a 2011? Thoughts? Will it make me shoot like John Wick?
  17. Digging up an old post (but I figured it's better than starting a new one!)... I want to make sure I have this right. To switch from 9mm to 38 Super Comp on a 650, I need to buy: 13345 - 650 Shellplate - 38 Supercomp/223 13614 - 650 Station 1 Locator - #3 38 Supercomp/223 Is that correct?
  18. Good to know. My brother in law has a Tanfoglio and I'm not sure if my 1.114 rounds will chamber in his; I'll drop to 1.110 if they don't work. My 9mm 1911 chambers literally everything, haha.
  19. I got my Wolff springs! One question: the 14lb recoil spring is significantly longer than my stock 18lb one (slightly more than an inch). Should I be trimming it to match or just squeezing it in there? 5" Gov't gun if that matters.
  20. Where did you get a crazy idea like that from?!
  21. Depends on the rule set. Both places I shoot pins let you carry 10 rounds per mag / cylinder, so again, the 8-shooter is the better choice. Though I did get 3rd of 26 shooters using the Rhino one night. At least they were kind enough to handicap me to 5 pins instead of 6... still pretty stressful to only be carrying one miss, lol.
  22. I did check for that one (visually with a magnifying glass) but I'm going to try running a dental pick over that area to see if it picks (har har) up anything I missed. I finished round 1 of tuning the extractor and I have reduced power recoil springs on the way. I'm going to reassemble it with a 15lb spring for starters and see how it goes.
