  1. What time is the meet and greet? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Colorado inbound (via Seattle)! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Sure, but confirmation is nice.
  4. I HAVE AN ANSWER! I emailed IDPA directly asking if lightening cuts are allowed in ESP and CDP. I also asked if full length dust covers are allowed now. This was the response: “There is no longer a rule forbidding slide machining or full length dust covers. Robert Ray” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I posted the same question (to no response so far): - As far as I can tell, slide lightening cuts are now legal? 8.1.7.E makes a provision for factory machined slides. I don't see anything in 8.1.8 that forbids them, and 8.2.2.2.Z (ESP) and 8.2.3.2.Z (CDP) both allow for "Slide checkering, serrating, engraving, and other machining". I assume this covers slide windows and the like?
  6. I've loaded a grand. Not sure that I'll need all that but, then again... 4 Texas stars, lol.
  7. Howdy, IDPA folk! I'm starting to eye the local indoor match now that revolver season is coming to a close and winter is soon to arrive. I was just re-reading the rules before dusting off my vest and flashlight and it looks like a few things have changed since I last shot IDPA (which would have been sometime in 2016). - As far as I can tell, slide lightening cuts are now legal? 8.1.7.E makes a provision for factory machined slides. I assume this covers slide windows and the like? - I remember full-length and railed dustcovers not being legal. I can't find a rule on that in the 2017 book - did it change? - Lastly, and mostly as a joke... I don't see anything forbidding thumbrests other than having too much clearance between the handgun and your body when holstered. Am I just slow? (very possible) Thanks!
  8. Many, many thanks for all your help! I'm up to 22 (reloadable with a manly slap). Until they wear in all the way I can run 22+1 to start and reload with 21-rounders. That's pretty darn good considering ONE MBX mag would have cost me more than building three MecGars and it only holds two more.
  9. Nice! Even 22 to start with reloads holding 21 would be a huge improvement over my .45 STI (15/14). I wish I’d seen this video before. I had MBX’s for that gun and sold them off because I couldn’t get them to feed consistently - I bet this would have helped. What’s weird is MBX didn’t point me to it when I contacted customer support. Ah well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I’ll check it out as soon as I get home. Thanks! Does this work for MecGars too? And are you getting 22 reloadable? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. If I push down on the stack too far to the nose or rear and angle the rounds up, they’ll salt shaker event after they straighten out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Just installed the DAA followers and springs. Used with the TF basepads, I'm up to 22 rounds (NOT reloadable) or 21 easily reloadable. Getting the 22nd in requires some mechanical assistance at the moment but I'm hoping that will change once the springs wear in a little. I've also found that it's not too hard to make a salt shaker if I'm sloppy when loading the mags.
  13. Perfect, thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I have two STIs and now added a RIA. The big difference I’ve found is that the RIA’s Para frame is more square and feels wider than the STI frames. Might not matter if you have decent sized hands but I have short fingers so I notice it. The gun is also considerably heavier than a plastic framed 2011 which is good and bad. Mags are a little trickier to sort out for Paras than for STIs but it’s not a huge deal. All of my 2011’s have needed some degree of tuning (including the mags). It’s just the nature of 2011’s. The big thing with the RIA’s seem to be extractors. I’ve had three RIA 1911/2011 guns and have been impressed with all of them for the price. Like any other gun on this platform, they can be tuned to have very nice triggers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Absolutely! I'm running a 13# recoil / 17# hammer in my Eagle-framed gun, but that's in a .45 with a lightened slide. I have 11#/17# in my Para 9mm and seems to like that with my 147gr 132 PF 9mm loads. Like people who are smarter than me have said - springing will depend on the load you settle on. Always a good idea to get a variety pack of springs so you can adjust.
  16. Had an hour in the garage last night. I rounded all the edges on the magwell opening, added some beveling, and gave it a rough polish. I like it enough to stick with it for a while, at least. Here's how it started...
  17. Thanks for the input! I think I’m going to try opening up the factory magwell’s funnel a touch first. I can always switch to the TF if I don’t like the results (or I destroy it (which is known to happen)).
  18. Right, it’s totally a trade-off. Sometimes you just have to decide if you’d rather stand a better chance of winning or just run something because you want to. Ex: I shoot a 6-shot Minor revo because that’s my ICORE gun and boy, does it hurt on the longer USPSA stages, lol. I could get another 627 to be more competitive, or run my 629 in Major, but I like my Rhino too much.
  19. It looks like the Taylor Freelance magwell is the only one on the market for these. Those of you who have installed one - what are your thoughts? Must-have upgrade? My only hang-ups with it are that it looks like it's huge and I don't know if it will work with the Springer basepads I have on half my mags (the other ones have TF basepads).
  20. I shot my very first two matches with a MR Baby Eagle II (a Walther P99 clone) in Limited Minor because that’s what I could get away with (3 15-round mags, a cheapo mag pouch, and a holster on a regular belt). I’m sure that’s not why MOST people do it but I suspect there’s a nonzero quotient of shooters. I actually just picked up a L-Minor gun for the winter season (I’m focused on Revo until after the IRC) to compliment my L-Major gun. I want to spend some time focusing on good hits and not worrying about reloads without relying on Major scoring superpowers.
  21. I have a 2011 built off of an Eagle frame and a Blade Tech Revolution 1911 holster works perfectly.
  22. Mine was fine. I did pin my grip safety, and had to do a good bit of fitting to the stainless mainspring housing I put in. Finished product:
  23. True, though you could easily spot someone with a "here is my gun and here is my pistol" Limited-type placement . WHAT COULD GO WRONG?! Lol.
