  1. Sorry, I meant the bump under the top bushing on the passenger side. Mine is more pronounced on the driver's side, but it looks like the frame was welded and filed flat again.
  2. Looks great to me! I'm all about function. You have less patch welding around the trigger than I do. My frame is so bad that RIA had to relieve the back side of the grips, lol.
  3. Nice! Could you post a pic? I’m really curious as to what that looks like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Has anyone done a full skate tape grip on one of these? I feel like it would be pretty comfortable, but you'd still have to find a way to cover the cutaways behind the trigger.
  5. Same. When I RO, I'd rather someone takes twice as long under "make ready" and "unload, show clear" than they do to shoot the stage. I don't take inordinately long under "make ready", but I am deliberate. Draw and get a sight picture on the first target, sometimes take one dry fire shot, then load a moon, check headspace and re-holster. It's just long enough to get into the right mindset (which is probably 75% of this game). That's why I think it's a little silly that any shooter would have a problem with it taking too long. Especially when I have to watch the B-class Limited guys practice their draw about eight times before they even put a mag in, lol.
  6. It would be a hike for you, but Arvada Rifle and Pistol club holds two matches a month. The second Tuesday is the short match (two COF's) and the fourth Sunday is the longer match (four CoF's). The stage design is usually pretty creative. As a bonus, a lot of members are retired engineers so they've been coming up with some fun stuff to trip moving targets. I'd heard that they got a laser system working, but haven't checked it out yet as the fourth Sunday is also ICORE and I've been focused on that. http://www.arpcinc.com/calendar http://www.arpcinc.com/leagues/idpa-action-pistol Edit: Yikes, didn't check the timestamp. Hope this worked out for you!
  7. Got it to go. Needed a bunch of coercion (and some, ah, gentle tapping) but it's working in and out easier now that I've done it a few times. Next will be filing down the back side and then tuning.
  8. That's the confusing part. It looks like it should fit, but even a few taps with a rubber mallet won't sink it in any deeper. You're right about the rear. Even if it seated, there would still be a good chunk to file off.
  9. Got my Wilson extractor today. It is going to need a LOT of work to get it to fit. It doesn’t drop all the way into the tunnel and stops about 1/16” short of allowing the firing pin stop from sliding into place. I guess my only option is to file down the “shoulder” of the extractor until it slides all the way in?
  10. I'm not having a frequent problem with high primers. If I was and didn't know it, I'd want to find that out before the start buzzer and not when my cylinder locks up afterward. And yes, you can only test the initial moon. That also means that you'd be verifying half of your ammo on most classifiers. I try to check everything beforehand. That being said, I don't think taking the second or two to verify a clip is good before beginning a CoF is necessarily a bad use of time. Different strokes I s'pose. In terms of the RO, I'd have the same response that I'd hope any shooter would give to me if I was running them - quote me a rule. Handily, we just determined that the "unsafe gun handling while loading" rule is the same one that that contains the revolver exemption. We're a special group, lol.
  11. There we go! Looks like I didn't get the right combination of words when searching. It's nice to have a specific rule number to quote if it ever came up. I'm a bad revo shooter - I'm fast during "make ready", I just take too much time for everything that comes after . I think it's worth mentioning that loading a mag with your finger in the guard is also DQ-able per 10.5.9
  12. Hey, all! I've searched around but couldn't find a specific answer on this. I shoot Revo (badly) in both USPSA and ICORE. In the latter, it's common practice after "Make Ready" to load the cylinder, close it, disengage the cylinder stop either by pulling slightly on the hammer or trigger, and spin the cylinder to check for high primers/headspacing. This is particularly relevant to me as I have a gun that gets finicky when moons aren't 100% inserted. Said gun also has no hammer spur so I have to apply pressure to the trigger to be able to spin the cylinder. I wasn't clear if this would be legal in USPSA. On the one hand, I assume a lot of production shooters have to actuate the trigger to de-decock their guns, and you're allowed to take loaded sight pictures, even with your finger on the trigger per this thread/post: On the other, you could argue that your finger was on the trigger during the process of loading. Thoughts? While it should be obvious, I guess it should be stated - if you cook a round off while doing this, it's an AD and DQ.
  13. I see no quilts...? The nice thing is that revolvers are exempted from the equipment position rules of Production (appendix E3). Per Appendix D4, Line 12 – Restrictions on position of holster and other equipment: Yes. See Appendix E3 (revolver speed loaders and moon clips are exempt) I reload from the weak side, but boy would it suck to try and get all moonclip holders behind my hip bone.
  14. Thanks for that! I've tuned the extractor on a 45 before and this was a great refresher. I'll order the Wilson unit.
  15. Nice, good to know. Aftec competition only? Or will any decent one work (like Wilson or EGW)?
  16. Time to dive in! I just picked up a used 9mm Tac Ultra (the full rail one) and I'm curious about a few things. So, I figured I'd ask the people who have been running them for a while! - It seems like a new extractor is a must-have. Has that been everyone's experience? - What spring weights have people settled on? I'll be shooting 147's at around a 131 PF if that matters. - Any reason to not change the MSH to something that's... not plastic? I already picked up TF basepads to use on MecGar mags.
  17. That’s great news as far as I’m concerned, lol. Thanks for checking!
  18. Gah, I just ordered a set. Is that true, though? They're too long for USPSA Limited? That's a bummer since TF advertises them as "meeting the 140mm rule for USPSA".
  19. Nice! I'll have to pick up a set.
  20. I was going to search to see if people were having success with them. I know mags can be a little finicky on these guns - if the TF ones work, that’ll be all I need.
  21. Gotcha. Nope, I use STI mags in those (and an SVI mag when I'm feeling saucy).
  22. Because Rock Island is special (like me).
  23. I use a 147 SNS coated round nose with 3.1gr of Sport Pistol. Soft shooting and easily makes power. One concern with range brass in 9mm is some of it won't size down correctly. I found the FC (Federal Champion) headstamp didn't give enough neck tension even after resizing/crimping as I could push the bullet in by hand. I switch to the EGW undersized die and that solved it.
  24. Thank you! I love it when the solution is "apply more force".
  25. So... I feel stupid and would really appreciate some help in feeling less stupid, lol. I just picked up another 2011 and this one uses Para-style mags. Some of mine have this style of basepad: I can't figure out how to remove them for the life of me. Pushing down on the interior "key" of the spring guide (like I do with every other mag ever) causes the basepad to lock into place. Trying to slide the basepad off without pushing down on that part has a little more give but then seizes up before I can slide the pad all the way off. Help me, BEnosverse. You're my only hope.
