  1. Trying out a Helix myself... SLR is having another 15% off sale right now.
  2. Very nice... really digging the grip pattern... how's it feel?
  3. Yeah, I guess to further elaborate, the undercut is amazing. It's just different from the standard undercuts on similar pistols. I have a PT aluminum grip too and it's not the same (nice) but just different. I guess it's alot of things that add up though. The undercut + the small ergo hump at the back + the signature beavertail blending in... it all makes for a small in hand beefy solid grip. I can only describe it as quality.
  4. Haha, nah man I'm not hurting that bad for a gun. I can always be patient and get something in a year or so built myself. Just looking for something right now to hold me over. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Smart choice.
  5. Another vote for EGWs. I've fit an EGW, an Infinity's, swensons shielded, ed brown tactical and STI's. Of those, Infinity's was like a piece of art. EGW was also fantastically machined but not as nice as Infinity's. However, EGW has a fantastic design, seems like it's more robust, it was easier to fit so I'd go with them all day.
  6. don't think so but that would be awesome.
  7. Some folks reported having cracking issues with the STI aluminum grips but that may have been fixed... polymer grips are pretty forgiving. metal grips seem to be more preference than anything BUT if it was a steel grip you do add weight so may shoot a little flatter - some like the feel (more solid) eagle gets my vote especially with the other upper In the photos, the eagle looks like it's missing the front grip screws.
  8. Really appreciate all the info and review!
  9. If you like the feel of stippling, could get a cheap set of plastic grips and stipple them... worked great for me.
  10. The SVI/Infinity metal ergo grips are really great feeling in hand... was really surprised how small it feels. Want them on every gun I own now.
  11. Wasn't sure what end I was looking at for the zebra... Sweet setup though!
  12. To add to Mrpostman's comment... that barrel lug file is awesome from brownells... such a useful file... Check out some of MosinVirus's videos on youtube and you'll see how often he uses it. He's used it even to modify a 1911 frame from a GI barrel bed to a Para/clark ramped barrel.
  13. That position looks pretty optimal to me at least. Thats where they belong. Agree with this... love front cocking serrations but this seems like a more practical spot.
  14. Damn thanks for the tip... definitely gonna watch for those.
  15. VZ gunners are okay too... I found that I really like sandpaper grips - so you could always look for TRP style grips or make your own. I've stippled ergo plastic grips before too and that worked great... think you can find those for ~20 bucks so it's not a huge loss if you screw them up.
  16. I too used brownell's lug cutter to fit a schuemann in my 2011. The kit comes with 2 sized cutters so you can zero in on what you need. Take your time and it's really simple. Easy & worked great.... Youtube helps lol. Mosinvirus has a video using it on a 1911 80% build and it's pretty clear and easy to use as a tutorial.
  17. I've got dawson's grip tape on my m&p and I agree, it's a little thick... going to try talons sometime.
  18. I'm maybe not understanding your question, but I think that's what people recommend for transitions.. to focus on your target then allow your gun to swing into position where you can pick up your sight picture. Works for me atleast, trying to follow my sight one eye or two eyes open is really tough. Focusing then bringing the gun to my eyes is so much better.
  19. With only a single round in the gun fire, then do a dry fire right after reset and the sights get re-aligned. Keep doing it until the gun does not move during the dry fire portion. (Credit: Ron Avery). This helped me a lot. Insert mag, rack one round, drop mag, fire, fire again (click), rinse and repeat.
  20. I think MrPostman has your answer. Prices seem so comparable that it really depends only on if you want one specific look/thing.
  21. What's the finish called on the controls & barrel? I don't see any info on it on freedom's website. Looks great!
  22. I think Kimber's have that type of Novak cut with the notch.
  23. it's been said already--- but this is the best
