  1. During competition RO finds a competitor dry-firing in an empty bay or on an empty stage (already shot by the competitor). Upon closer inspection the handgun have no firing pin installed. RO actions? If DQ, which rule? What if it was just the frame, no upper? A particular shooting range internal rules (mixed with country's firearm laws) forbid moving between buildings of a larger shooting complex with firearm and magazines on the belt - literally 20-30m. Shooting equipment must be (un-)bagged in SA. The violation is a DQ, and - technically - criminal charge (yet there will be no LE to enforce, and competitor will be stopped in 99% of cases by the staff, educated). What is the 10.5 reason for DQ? 10.6.2/3 USPSA/IPSC? 10.3.1?
  2. The firearm in the example above is handgun. No pasting by competitors - dedicated ROs and a helper. Besides perception, would it matter if it was a PCC or rifle upper? Follow-up questions: 1. What constitutes a firearm? At which point sensitivity of people around transforms into issue from Rules point of view? How complete a firearm must be to invoke 10.5.1 Handling a firearm at any time except when in a designated Safety Area, etc.? Is it subjective RO ruling, or...? 2. 10.5 begins Examples of unsafe gun handling include, but are not limited to. Are there example of unsafe handling that are not mentioned in the rules yet you know a competitor was DQ under general 10.5 rule? What were the specifics?
  3. Welcome opinions and real-life stories. A competitor disassemble a firearm into parts, take the barrel from Safety Area to the common space, leave everything else - slide, frame - in SA. Proceed with chamberchecking reloaded ammunition with other shooters and staff closely around. Sweeping with muzzle everyone nearby with a round inserted in the chamber. Safe / Unsafe? DQ or not? (IPSC rules specifically)
  4. They are larger internal volume, IIRC.
  5. I tried it and it was a waste of time and $10. 1. Only 5 IPSC targets, useless for IPSC. 2. Unable to resize. If that's suppose to be supported I don't know how to do it. Initial proportions are wrong. 3. No response to support requests. 4. Last entry in update log is almost 5 years old.
  6. No such button exist, AFAIK. You could have STI extended button rotated, but then you'll have ugly empty space in the grip where the teardrop button slot. Ask if someone around could machine it for you? Aluminum works fine. Button for a lefty below.
  7. @StealthyBlagga have the individual had a chance to correct the situation, perhaps after an additional personal explanation of what his actions resulted for you, for the staff, and other competitors?
  8. Videoed myself previous week shooting simple drills and found tension crippling into face - crippling into mind. Usually I'm not into making funny faces yet it was beyond I'd like to see. Spent last training session just on making face relaxed during all shooting. Easier hits, slightly better time, more observations. Bonus, I'll look even prettier on match photos!
  9. Man, you cut MBX mag in half just to take a picture?
  10. That's a lame job even for a hand-drill - on an SVI More from the same artist.
  11. That looks odd for the price. I paid $86 for the last standalone SVI steel magwell of a similar dimensions. Not a stainless though and no curve in the funnel. SVI stainless are +$150.
  12. How much setback exactly we're talking about? Proper Open powders like 3N38 or SP2 are safe with compressed loads in 9x19. 9x19 is 13.3gr of H2O and .38 Super is 17.6gr. I haven't filled .38 Super to the top but I shot 9x19 filled to the top with 3N38 and 115gn plated bullet - that's ~10.5gn of powder.
  13. With a sample size of one, Glock 17 barrel survives firing against squib with a slight bulge.
  14. As for the odds... The conclusion assumes uniform distribution. Yet, if the barrels are made in sequence - and serial numbers suggests that's the case - they could be made from same barstock piece. People make errors, SVI is not spotless. The piece could be defective - beyond SVI control, until they test in-house. That's very unfortunate as some other people might be affected too. Even if the probability of that is like 1%, that's in my opinion, is totally reckless to ignore and deny (on manufacturer side). One high-profile case of missing fingers and the brand is gone? Somehow a lot of drama here is around blown-up barrel. Totally ignoring a separate occurrence with broken lower lug for which the photo is posted here. Happy IMM owner otherwise.
  15. Bullet setback doesn't mean a thing in 38 Super with slow powder.
  16. Consider this is not US and current situation, that could take months just in paperwork. How about that?
  17. No need to overthink this. As @kneelingatlas pointed out it's all about final fit. My comp/adapter currently have ~1.5mm flats, yet it was working just fine in early prototypes with taper till the end. Make sure the result locks and unlocks smoothly without any perceived resistance and you're good to go. Very important is to not let comp to screw on past it's final position and/or start hitting on the slide - directly or via the (steel) cone taper. It will go wrong very fast.
  18. How bad IPS vendor-locked this forum? I would look into a cheeper hosting and running IPB software independently of them. That's just a PHP app. If they are willing to export, then it's one time $200 and optional $25 / 6-months for software updates. About $50 / month for a cloud VM and unknown amount for egress. Someone to keep an eye on it.
  19. Sure there is a lot to tinker and learn about in Open guns, as demonstrated by @kneelingatlas. Yet there is one simple scheme that is proven to work: high-temp red Loctite (I use 272) and a set screw. If you will be able to machine a scheme where comp is correctly clocked when stopped on the end of the threads / shoulder - please share your experience. Keep in mind this should happen with a good relation to the slide. @Mauserlover CZ85/75 barrel is too thin and its slide is too small for a cone comp. That's why we use SP01 / TS slide. The main reason to use cone comp is to reuse original barrel.
  20. Thank you for the photos @Gene_WI. They loads just fine.
  21. Aluminum is surprisingly good material for a comp. Round everything to prevent cracks. Cracked titanium and steel comps: Works for me:
