  1. I guess I misunderstood your #s. 40K is from the second line of my cost analysis BTW if you bought the brass from Precision Delta you would save $150.
  2. This is the worst part for me. Using the same numbers as above, even if you leave all the local match brass on the ground and recover the practice brass at the same rate, the cost jumps to $0.051 per piece of brass. YMMV based on your ratio of practice brass (recoverable): match brass (lost)
  3. 40K pieces of once fired 9mm processed brass costs you $380?? Sign me up for that Assuming the once fired processed stuff is ~ $0.04 per piece, 40K comes out to $1600
  4. Lots of discussion regarding 9 major vs 38 Supercomp I made some assumptions based on how I practice and seriously overestimated the annual volumes and major match participation. If you use a big tarp to catch brass or a "brass chute" recovery is not that difficult. I shoot locals with 2 other Supercomp shooters. We all pick up and pool our brass, then divide at the end of the match. My conclusions (nothing new but at least it is quantified) If you never want to pick up brass, shoot 9 major. If you can get free once-fired brass from and indoor range, shoot 9 major If you make a little effort to pick it up, the cost of 38 SuperComp is similar to buying processed 9mm brass
  5. I emailed Shooters World powders regarding the label issue with Rifle/Pistol. I got a quick response from the Managing Partner CFO: "It's a mistake on the label, it is Major Pistol, my label company just put Rifle on the bottom. We thought we destroyed all the labels but we missed a couple. No worries it is the correct Major Pistol powder"
  6. O On the Grafs website, the picture of the 1# can says "Pistol" and the 8# can says "Rifle". Any idea what this is all about? All my stock at home says "pistol" https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/vendor/vendorId/303
  7. it is better than previous versions but I definitely agree that the major matches should simply be sorted in chronological order. The current categorization is not even accurate. For example, the Florida State championship is listed under Major Matches instead of State Championships
  8. Bul Open at OK Corral Jan 11 and 12. Registration on Match Signup Classifier match at Universal on 1/12
  9. I used to think that too and held out for a few years. I don't really care at all about perfectly shiny brass. Wet tumble in the FART without pins for 45 -60 min. Cheap Amazon food dehydrator for 90 minutes. Done. Minimal effort, no dust. An added bonus is that by using ArmorAll car wash and wax, I no longer need to lube my cases
  10. I think you are missing my point. the choice of gun bothers me not in the least. It is when Joe C-class takes the attitude of "look at me beating that B class guy with a 2011." Call it a pet peeve. One of my many character flaws.
  11. I can't but clearly you have chosen to compete with a less expensive gun. Your choice. No one cares.
  12. This line of thinking is just pointless. My Rafferty custom costs less than this guy's SVI, and I beat him by 2%. what a sucker....It's just dumb.
  13. When I read or hear stuff like that it is almost always is coming from a B/C class shooter. I seriously doubt Coley or Vogel care about the type of guns other people shoot. Don't hate on people who have more disposable income than you. Be happy that you train harder and beat them regardless of the platform
  14. Definitely can't please everyone. The humidity of Florida vs. Idaho is probably the reason for our difference of opinion. Like you said, run a quality match at a fair price.
  15. I have only shot one match where the staff did all the pasting/resetting and it was fantastic. This is worth a premium price to me I like a full 5 minute walkthrough especially when squads are large If the range is lacking shade, those portable canopies are appreciated A practice/ sight-in bay if I shoot 2 half days, lunch is irrelevant I have yet to get anything of interest in a swag bag. I don’t need another glock keychain or squeezy ball I like shirts but not cotton tshirts. If the shirt is a tech wear type shirt, I will wear it again. CottonTs go in the rag pile. Realizing that the cost of the quality shirts is likely prohibitive, I would rather get nothing and pay less of a match fee
  16. Follow the link and primers will magically arrive at your doorstep. Order like 20,000 and the Hazmat fee is essentially diluted out https://www.powdervalleyinc.com/product-category/reloading-supplies/primers/?filter_brand=federal&query_type_brand=or
  17. Because of the Canadian 10 round limit no doubt. 10 round Open, LOL
  18. Don’t forget about threads from aspiring statisticians showing elaborate regression analysis of the classification system. Those are fun too.
  19. I also struggled with the vertical thumb position. Despite the fact that the GoGun is the primary feature responsible for multiple national championships, it didn't work for me. I finally found the IPSC Alex rest. It allows a more thumbs forward position that feels like my natural grip. I have one on 3 Open guns. YMMV BTW: If you are shooting the So. Florida section match this weekend, you are welcome to check it out
  20. With 2 toolheads it is literally a 1 minute change between 9 and 38SC
  21. For 9mm to 38SC conversion: 223 shell plate Dies new station 1 locator
  22. Too much info for me to make a decision and I suspect Maximis might be right. What advantages do you perceive the Mark 7 to have in loading? More/better sensors?
