  1. I'm noticing the loaded chamber indicator hole on the back of the barrel on my M&P Core shoots out gas that leaves fouling and residue on the glass of my vortex venom optic. Anyone experiencing the same and have a solution or suggestions how to plug it? I have an apex match barrel in it, and as far as I can tell all aftermarket barrels include that hole.
  2. The venom window is not actually larger than the viper, it may even be shorter vertically. It looks like it flares out wider, but that's mainly because the base is narrower. Razor, viper, and venom below:
  3. A bit of filing and sanding, depends on the gun.
  4. It's low mass, I'm using the AIM lightweight BCG with the taccom lightweight buffer.
  5. After cutting my stock I ended up using the Limbsaver Airtech Slip-On, by far the softest pad I'd found: https://www.limbsaver.com/product/airtech-slip-on-recoil/ Doesn't look as clean as one ground down to fit, but feels softer, I think. It did slip around me once, so I've used double-sided foam tape to remedy that.
  6. Definitely didn't enjoy the second one as much as the first. Second one felt like a cheap book from the supermarket aisle.
  7. Had a lot of fun watching John Wick 2, not great on trigger safety though. In one scene he walks down a staircase and clearly has his finger on the trigger. Then again, when your John Wick, maybe everything is a target so you don't need trigger safety.
  8. Had my m3000 lifter welded by him. Came out a little long in my gun (prob variance across shotguns), but was easily filed down. Great to deal with.
  9. What's wrong with using SRP for other guns?
  10. That's an great idea with the sorting block, did you make that?
  11. As an alternative, I've also had good luck with the RCA adjustable gas key. Replaced the gas key on my BCG with it instead of replacing the gas block.
  12. Started out with a 9mm RCBS bullet feeder die and ran into a ton of issues. Off recommendations I read online, tried cutting off the plastic flashing, putting two rubber bands on the plastic collets and even the 147 gr RN xtreme bullets I was using wouldn't drop reliably. Worse, when filling the tube up again sometimes all the bullets would fall through. Have read that hollow points might work better. Switched to a Hornady bullet feeder die and 3d printed an adapter to use the RCBS tubes. Works much, much better.
  13. Got the new Venom 6 MOA to compare, and it doesn't have the flicker issue, but it's dot isn't as true red as the Viper is. Not sure which I prefer yet, here's my comparison:
  14. I also have the black nitride lightweight bcg and it's been running well with the lightweight taccom buffer system. I also put on a RCA adjustable gas key on it and it's been working well.
  15. Another common recommendation is the Faxon Gunner barrel. I'm not getting great groups with it, but others online have had more success - I'm still trying to narrow it down if it's the optic, the barrel, or any other possible issue. Was surprised to read above that a muzzle brake had an effect on accuracy, another factor to look at.
  16. With my pro match, I used the Hogue Speed Competition holster, which is adjustable to fit a range of guns. Certainly not as nice as the DAA, but it did the job and I don't think it slows down my draw at all.
  17. Also got a Wilson Combat, ambidextrous: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/646652/wilson-combat-high-ride-wide-thumb-safety-1911-ambidextrous?cm_mmc=se_service-_-shippingconf-_-shippingconf-_-ProductShippedTodayLink Also put a nitro fin on it.
  18. The striker spring in mine was causing light strikes after about 5000 rounds. Replaced with an extra power wolff spring for a glock and working great since.
  19. I got both the Vortex Viper and Venom 6 MOA to compare. I liked the Viper on my M&P, but found that I could clearly see a flicker in it when moving it around and it wasn't at full brightness. Even got a second one to confirm that all Vipers had the same issue. Whether it mattered enough when shooting I'm not sure, might even have helped in drawing the eye to it. It bothered me enough that I wanted to see what the Venom 6 MOA would be like when it was released. Venom has a little bit taller base. Battery port is on top, which is nice since you don't have to take it off its mount to replace it. Buttons are also a little smaller, which I like. No locking screws like the Viper, which might be better since they won't get blocked on guns with iron sights in the way. The red dot doesn't have the flicker issue, but is more orange, similar to the Burris Fastfire 3. In fact since they're both made in the Philippines I'd bet it's coming from the same source. I might prefer how red the dot is on the Viper, though, feels like it draws the eye more. I thought the window on the Venom was wider because it extends out past the base, but it's about equivalent with the Viper. Height-wise the window might actually be a little shorter. Anyone else compare the two?
  20. This. I put in dawson sights and removing the rear sight was a breeze compared to the front. A good vise will help, and I also had to use a steel punch.
  21. Trade in my strike eagle for it. Prefer the reticle on the Atibal, the lines on the strike eagle were kind of thick. Did not find illumination bright enough to stand out on a bright day, though.
  22. Also have had good luck with the AIM lightweight BCG. Put an RCA adjustable gas key on it and it's also been working great.
  23. I had the Chiappa 22 upper, which some people have had issues with, but worked fine for me. I've been using the M&P 15-22 mags (they're loose, but do fit in a regular AR lower, and are more reliable than any other mag I've used). I did crack one of the front lugs on the plastic upper trying to torque on a free float handguard, but was able to replace it with a mil-spec aluminum upper and it's been running great since.
