  1. Hi, I'm looking for a gunsmith who can shorten my XN MKA's barrel to remove the Winchoke portion of the barrel, then externally thread the barrel to accept the Saiga/ VEPR externally threaded chokes. I've already contacted T&N, but he won't externally thread the barrel. The barrels are within 0.002 in. of each other so that shouldn't pose a problem. Any suggestions? For those who will ask why? It is because I want to be able to use the muzzle devices that are available for the Russian guns. Thank you, Z
  2. Does anyone use a thumb rest like a Nitro Fin have any pics of their modifications to the holster to accommodate it?
  3. I also have a Firebird TAC-12 A1. It runs flawlessly. There is a company called Cadiz Gunworks (I think) that makes winchokes that are extended that have the Saiga/ Molot threads on them. You can then thread on any of the Saiga/Molot muzzle devices on the market. The problem is that they only come in cylinder bore. They also have a tendency to loosen unless red locktite did in. I was thinking about having one made through Briley's that was in a light modified constriction.
  4. I'm wondering if they created a class for those AR 15 rifles that are popular in England that have their gas system disabled, and are converted into a straight pull manually operated rifle.
  5. I fixed it. I just dropped in another FCG and it now resets the way it is supposed to. I have been thinking about using a McCormick straight trigger on this rifle anyway, but atleast now it works.
  6. I just built an AR9 using a New Frontier Armory lower, and side charging upper. I put in a mil-spec trigger that a friend of mine had lightened the pull on. I have a New Frontier one piece bolt. The trigger disconnect doesn't seem to engage when I rack the bolt back, and keep the trigger depressed. If I release the trigger and rack the bolt, it will engage the hammer and be ready to fire. Can anyone tell me what to do? I have heard that some of the one piece triggers have some problems with this gun. Can any one suggest one to use?
  7. Does anyone have a good load for PCC class? I am wondering if I should run like 147s or 124/5, or 115s? Has anyone run their 9Major rounds through a PCC? Thanks, Z
  8. Fortis just came out with 9mm brakes in both 1/2 X 28 and 1/2 X 36 thread sizes. Palmetto State Armory has a brake in the x 36 thread size.

  10. If you just want a gun case to fit your shotgun, ACE makes plain gun nylon cases up to 66" long.
  11. I forgot to say that it is a 9mm conversion barrel for my G24...
  12. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I need some advice regarding a G24 conversion barrel. Lone Wolf recommends using an 11 lbs spring if the stock spring is too heavy for the slide. I have an 11 lbs spring, and the gun functions most of the time with very light loads, and I am assuming that it will bet better as I break in the barrel. But I am wondering if it is too light for prolonged use. Does anyone have any recomendations for a spring weight for this set up? I am planning to use the gun for 3 gun, so power factor won't be an issue.
  13. So is it legal or not for Tac Ops/ Tactical class? I was interested in using it in place of other 45 degree iron sights like Dueck sights? A representative of the company told me that it was approved by the NSSF for use in iron sight class.
  14. I have a Gibbz upper and really like it. The good thing about the Gibbz is that you can use any bolt carrier you want. I am running a Rubber City Armory lightweight carrier. The charging handle is non-reciprocating and has a detent that keeps it locked forward when not in use. It doesn't have a shell deflector, but it doesn't seem to matter.
  15. Where does one get a factory 6" barrel and slide. I remember seeing them offer a kit that had a lightened slide, but I haven't seen it since. Where can I get one?

    Limcat?

I have a 9mm RazorCat. You won't be disappointed! Johnny is a great guy, stands behind his guns 100%. Last, his guns are works of art.
  17. I just built a Tac-Ops rifle this week with the Gibbz upper. I haven't been able to shoot it yet, but I really like the way it feels. I have been searching for a side charging awhile, but like Stealthy, wanted to us a lightened bolt carrier. Here is a pic of my just completed rifle.
  18. Hi, I use an AP Custom carbon fiber handguard on my match AR. I have been trying to use the accessory short rail sections from AP Custom to attach a Harris Bipod on a QD system. My problem is as soon as I shoot the gun with the bipod, the rail section becomes lose and rattles. I have taken the rail section off and on a couple of times and each time I have found that the metal piece that comes with the rails that are threaded and fit into the slots milled into the handguard are bent, I dont feel that I can just keep tightening them down. Has anyone encountered this problem, and how did you remedy this problem? Thanks
  19. I have had an open 11/87 and my current Benelli M2 mag-na-ported. There is some reduction in muzzle climb, but not much. Also it does nothing to soften recoil.
  20. I just saw the Gibbs upper last week. I have always wanted to get a side charging AR upper, but have been put off by either a reciprocating handle, the inability to use a lightened carrier or the price. This looks like a good answer to me. Any updates?
  21. I too am sorry to hear that he will be closing. Glenn was a stand up guy and great to deal with. Thanks Glenn!
  22. I would normally agree with you, except that as I stated, the gun cycles fine with Wolf slugs which are definitely higher in velocity and kicks noticeably harder.
  23. Hi, I have an Akdal MKA 1919 XN model that was sent to Firebird for modifications to the lower and their HEOS gas system. Because of the gas system, with the stock recoil spring. Firebird suggests (unless I read the instructions wrong) that you don't shoot any high base ammunition. The gun functions just fine with Wolf slugs, but these are supposed to be a high base load, eventhough they seem to be a reduced load when compaired to standard Winchester or Federal slugs. I have 1 1/2 cases of B&P slugs, unfortunately, they only cycle the gun about 75-80% of the time. I have been shooting the Federal Wal-Mart bulk packs for birdshot that work just fine. Has anyone tried to use a reduced power recoil spring with this gas set up? Will there be any problems with damaging this system using this spring and these slugs and birdshot? The jams I have been experiencing are the kind where the shell is sticking out of the ejection port, but he bolt has closed on the primer end of the shell (stove pipe?), which tells me that the bolt had not cycled fully to the rear. Thanks...Z
  24. I have owned an Akdal for a little less than a year now. I sent the lower for the complete Firebird treatment. I have only been able to shoot it in one match so far, and it did not perform very well. On one stage, it turned into a bolt action shotgun, at the time, it looked like it was short stroking, as the chamber was empty when I cycled it, but at that time, I probably only had 200 - 250 rounds through it. I have run another 200 rounds through it since it's first match, and deburred the chamber area, and it has run flawlessly. I will hopefully shoot it again next month in a match. The factory 10 rounders seem to work well, however the mag I used with the Roulette tactical extension, needed some tweaking. We will see how it works next month. I like my Akdal, but I believe that it needs a little more breaking in before it becomes reliable. I also have Benelli M2 and a Remington 1187 (it is for sale) that are set up for the open class, and use the Armstec speedloaders. The speedloaders take a little practice, but are pretty fast.
