  1. You can get a cylinder choke from Carolina that is extended with the same threads as the Saiga 12. You can then use any compensator that is made to fit the Saiga on your Akdal. The only problem is that it only comes in cylinder bore.
  2. Does anyone know what the story is on the Armstec speedloaders? I have had a couple of sets on backorder from Brownells for a couple of months now. Thanks, Z
  3. I have use one on a Remington open gun, although I have other shotguns that I am using also. I had no problems with it as long as it was kept clean (like the rest of the gun). I have posted this question in the past here on this forum, and was told the same things that you are.
  4. Hi, Has anyone tried the XTI Xpress Threat Interdiction sights from XS sight systems? If you did, what did you think about them, and are you still using them? Thanks, Z
  5. If you need a longer bag, Midway USA is selling a Sniper Drag Bag Scoped Rifle Case that is 56" long for $74.99 on sale (which is about every month). I have one and it holds two guns with a padded separating piece.
  6. Thanks for the info. Since I am in the PRK (People's Republic of Kalifornia) all we can legally have are 10 round mags. I am bending toward the Molot, but am wondering about the major part, unavailabiltiy issue (this could be a non-issue).
  7. I am looking into getting a new open class shotgun and have decided to get one that is magazine fed. So the question is: Molot Vepr-12 or Akdal MKA 1919? I realize that people on this form will suggest the Firebird custom 1919 or the R&R modified Saiga, but as a base gun to make modifications to, which would you pick? Thank you for your help, Z
  8. Thanks everyone, that makes things way easier! Z
  9. The unfortunate part is he just had the bolt lightened by TTI.
  10. I agree with Stealthy, I have an 1187 that I still use off an on for the open class in 3 gun. As long as you keep it clean and well oiled (wet) my gun has always run well (I actually kind of prefer it over my Benelli because it is softer to shoot). With a 26" barrel, you can run a 10 round tube, and it will stick out beyond the barrel about 2 inches. The USPSA no longer has a capacity limit for Open or Limited (Tac-optics) classes, so you could run the longest tube that Nordic makes (+8 rounds plus a xxl end cap) which will let you carry 14+1 bird shot or 13+1 slugs. Although I don't have experience with the Choate tube, I have used the DWM 10 round tube and the Nordic tube. Both have their pros and cons. The DMW is made of steel, but is fixed as to how long it is. The Nordic is aluminum (not as strong), lighter, and has 3 lengths of end caps, so is a little adjustable in relation to the amount of free space you can have when the tube is fully loaded. Again, make sure you run with a barrel/mag tube clamp. Here's a couple of pictures of my 1187 with a 10 round and with a 14 round tube.
  11. I also have that safety and agree that it is a great piece. I also have one of his lightened bolts and the bolt release buttons. The bolt is a work of art.
  12. A friend of mine just bought some of these slugs (the new ones), and told me that they would not cycle his action. He has a Benelli M1 that is set up for the open class, has a Taran Tactical lightened bolt, and just came back from C-Rums for a make over. Does anyone have any ideas why these don't work in his gun? He says that the gun functions fine with birdshot.
  13. I have recently picked up a lightly used Benelli M2 with the comforttech stock that I have set up for Open Class 3gun. I have done the following to it: -Taran Tactical Innovations lightened and Ionbonded bolt -Taran Tactical extended safety -Modified the shell (bolt) latch for easier loading -Nordic +8 magazine tube -Nordic bolt handle -C-Rums new, modified Benelli shell lifter -Armstec speedloader bracket -Arredondo speedloader assist -Mag-Na-Ported 26" barrel -Briley comp-choke Today was the first time that I have shot it since completing these modifications. Unfortunately, the shotgun would not feed consistenly. Every 6th -8th shot, the shell would get stuck going into the chamber. It almost looked as if the rim of the shell was getting stuck on the extractor, so the shell was not able to get pushed by the bolt into the chamber. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what it could be. Do Benelli's need to have the lower edge of the chamber polished to help the shell not get stuck? The picture that I am enclosing shows what happends, but it also stops at lower points as the shell is trying to get pushed into the chamber. I am enclosing a picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Z
  14. Does anyone know if 9mm CZ75 magazines will fit and function in a small framed 9mm EAA Witness? Or if only some of the CZ mags work, which ones? Thank you, Z
  15. Does anyone know if the spares situation will be any different with the Molot? Z
  16. After reading this post, I checked two of my 38 super open guns. They both chamber the 9mm round (but need extractor adjustments). Are there any negative effects of shooting the 9 major rounds out of a 38 super chamber? Is there a loss of accuracy, etc? Thanks, Z
  17. Has anyone tried the POF 3 chambered comp?
  18. I have actually used my Poly-choke in two multi-gun matches since I asked the original question. I have no complaints about it. My Remington 1187 shoots about a 1-2" group @50yrds, with no shift in zero after adjusting the choke and then returning it to the slug setting. I think it works pretty well, but I am no expert.
  19. If you are going to be shooting Tac Ops class, I would leave your barrel at 26" especially since you said that you want to have the barrel and mag tube about the same length. The trend now is for shooters in this class to have shotguns that hold 10+ rounds. If you add a Nordic +7 round tube so you can carry 10+1, the mag tube should be flush or no more than 1 inch longer than your barrel. As for a gunsmith, Briley is close to you, however, I would talk to Benny Hill, C-Rums, Accurate Iron, or Taran Butler. I just got a lightened bolt from Taran, and it is impressive (but that is my opinion). Z
  20. I think that it is a TacMod SCS. Here is a link: http://tacmodstock.com/Concept/index.php
  21. Hi, I am really interested in your loading technique. I am switching from a Remington to a Benelli and am having problems adapting to using the release button. Did you have to do any modifications to your gun other than removing the release button? When the bolt stayed open during your demonstration, did you push the shell in the loading port till it clicked? Does that click need to happen before you can push the shell lifter and have the action close like a remington. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks, Z
  22. The one I got says its for the M2. I will try to call Arredondo today.
  23. Hi, I just bought a Benelli M2 that I am setting up for the open class. I received my Arredondo Speedloader Assist thing and it doesn't seem to fit correctly. The holes in the receiver do not line up with the assist piece. The last Assist piece that I bought was for a Remington and it went on without any modifications. Does the Benelli version need to be fitted? It appears as if the little nub that hits the trigger guard may need to be ground down. Am I correct? Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks, Z
  24. Does anyone know if he offers the bolt lightening service separately and how much? If not, who else offers bolt lightening/ flutes like Taran's so that would do this to my new shotgun? Thanks, Z
