  1. I think the AMU uses what ever they feel is best for the match they are going to shoot. I have seen pictures of them with the Razor 1X6 and also the Leupold 1X6. I am sure there is a lot more that they have to choose from.
  2. Take a look at Odin Works. They have some nice Keymod rails reasonably priced. I am getting ready to put a 15.5 in one on my current rifle. www.odinworks.com
  3. So back when I was a kid, My dad lived right down the road from PASA park in Barry, IL. If I remember correctly, during the Masters Competition, they did have boy scouts hired to do clean up and reset targets. I also seem to remember them painting targets in between as well. It has been a long time ago, so my memory may be a little foggy. I can't speak to if it actually sped up the match or not as I was a kid and didn't participate.
  4. I disagree with you twowheels. I went from a 1X6 to the Burris 1.5X8 and I don't think it slows me down 1 bit. I shoot with both eyes open as well. Try to base your decision off of what you know your club will shoot. Mine goes out to 600 from time to time and also hosts the Ironman, so for me, I feel the extra magnification is worth it. I have another club I go shoot that tops out at 250 yards. If that was my only club, I would have probably went with a different optic. I will say I like the SCR reticle from Burris better than their BDC reticle, but that would be the only thing I would change on my 1.5X8 decision.
  5. I too have the 1.5X8 from Burris. I think the 34mm tube is what makes the difference. I tried the Leupold 1.5X4 and the tube is so small on that the 1.5X did bother me. Bur for me, I have no problem with the Burris up close. I do appreciate the extra magnification when our club does stretch out the legs from time to time.
  6. I have shot one at a local club 3 gun shoot. There is an added bit of a challenge, but no more than a polish or double Texas star.
  7. I have a 6in 9mm and I love it for 3 gun. If you are a USPSA limited shooter, 40 would be the way to go for Major PF. But I do shoot my 6in 9 for USPSA as well and have done fine, I just give up a little points if I don't shoot A's.
  8. So +1 for the Seekins comp. However I didn't like the knurled ring idea, so I went with a crush washer instead. Lots of people run them with just the ring with no problem, I just wanted a little added security.
  9. So I chose this as my first major match that I had to fly to. Overall I loved the match. I really appreciated the large amount of steel, as I hate taping targets. It was all very straightforward with stage designs. This was a great match and I learned a lot about natural terrain matches. My only critique would be I would have liked a little more of all 3 guns being used. But I would like to say thank you to all the sponsors, Jim, Brooke, Sheldon and all the great RO's that made this match possible. Looks like I will be making a trip to Texas again next year.
  10. Under Gear and accessories in the 3 gun section, there is a thread on this scope. I have one and have been using it for 3 months now. I got a really good deal on mine and love it. I too shot the FB 3 gun this past weekend and agree that the added magnification made the longer range shots easy. And the 1.5X has never bothered me with close in targets. So my only 2 complaints about this scope is: #1 I wish it had turrets that lock. You have to watch them as I have slid the gun out of the case and the turrets have moved. I have my 0 set so not really hard to put it back where it was. #2 I got the BDC reticle and wish I had gone with the CQ Mil Reticle. With the deal I got, that reticle wasn't available though. But all in all, I like mine.
  11. I too used the JP mount. I like it as it is a solid well built mount. I haven't noticed any reticle movement with eye position myself.
  12. As others have said, the turrets are not mushy at all and have good positive clicks. As Don said, I just check it every time I slide it out from the case to ensure the turrets are at 0. Also, Burris also gives a really nice MIL, LEO and first responder discount.
  13. I have had one for 3 months now on my 223. I really like it and have had no problems. The weight was a non issue for me. I like the Eyebox and the lack of true 1X was not an issue for me either. I really like the added magnification when our club gets out past 400. But I was coming off a PA 1X6, which is great glass for the money, but I now see why people spend more on quality glass. My only complaint is I wish the turrets locked. I keep an eye on mine every time I take it out of the case.
  14. I have been running my 9mm 140's for the past 2 months and haven't had any issues with the stock spring and follower. Shoot a message to Adrian and see what he suggests.
  15. I would run a 16in build if 300 was the farthest my club shot. As far as optics go, I would look at the Burris 1X5. You can do a search on here and a lot of guys like the Burris 1X5. I am currently running the 1.5X8 and love it.
  16. Off sets will not put you into open according to 3 gun nation rules: 7.2.2.3 Practical Division rifles may be equipped with iron sights and or no more than one (1) optical sight. Both sight systems may be used in conjunction, co-witnessed or offset.
  17. I have a rubber city armory one in my current setup and like it. I have around 3k rounds through it with no issues so far.
  18. If you measure the outside diameter of the ring with calipers and contact MGM, they may be able to help you with a switchview that will fit. They also have the model that is adjustable to fit all, it is just not aluminum.
  19. One of the guys I shoot with locally did the GG&G adapter on his. He said It was pretty easy, but he did have to do some work to his stock to get it fit right.
  20. I saw something on here where guys were removing the SVI trigger and attaching it to the STI bow so they don't have to hog out the channel.
  21. Burris also has a 1X5 that a lot of guys like for a pretty decent price. The 1.5 magnification doesn't really bother me for close up stuff, but it is all personal preference. we shoot out to 500 sometimes at local matches do I like being able to crank it to 8.
  22. I think he is talking about the actual triggers themselves, not the gun. The biggest difference I see between the 2 is the ability to change out the inserts on the SVI to get the trigger to exactly how you like it. They have 9 different inserts that you can swap out without taking the gun apart to tune the trigger to you.
  23. I just picked up a Burris 1.5X8. The glass is clear and has a really nice field of view. I like having a little more magnification for longer shots. You should be able to find them for around 900 with a quick search.
  24. I got a set of the Grovetec ones from midway. Just go and search Grovetec and they will show up. I gave the spare 1 to a local Jr shooter to get his squared away. All I needed was a tap and epoxy.
  25. +1 to Mcqueen's advice. Get one down and then practice the other. It pays to be able to load anyway the situation dictates with just a little modification of the caddies.
