  1. I tried the snap on fiber optic on my Versamax and it kept falling off. Hi viz has one that you remove the bead off your barrel and the fiber holder screws into your old bead spot. I like the fact that you can interchange the pips really quick. You can also swap colors from white to green to red. They give you a little rotating case to hold them and different head sizes are included. They are around 50 through Midway when I got mine.
  2. There was a thread earlier on the idea of insulating the barrel where your weak hand goes. I picked up one guys idea to use Nomex gasket for a BBQ grill. I ordered a roll for like 20$ from a BBQ store online. It is self adhesive and has stuck on there good so far. And even better is no burnt hand.
  3. We had a stage that we had to shoot all weak hand a couple of months ago. I was glad I had put some practice into weak hand shooting. That was my best stage all day. I was practicing it pretty frequently in anticipation of the Ironman, but they dropped that stage.
  4. So I worked stage 6 at this years Ironman during the OLHOT match. That one had the spinner that ate most of the people's lunch. When Daniel Horner is yelling for more slugs, you know it went south. Aside from the super squad, the average spin rate was around 10% for a squad. There were a few squads that had better showing, but not many. The thing that made that spinner so difficult was it was set on an off angle. I shot the whole entire match using low recoil B&P slugs at 1200 FPs. I used exactly 100 slugs for the whole match and spun every spinner. The key is getting the hits. If you have to focus on bottom plate hits, take your time and make them count.
  5. Last time I looked at Aerostar, they only had cases available. Dillon has the 25 round boxes. When in need, you go where they are available in the quantity that you need.
  6. Inside of 20 yards seems about right. I always double tap the bottom as it makes sure that is goes over. I consider it insurance as if I do not hit it correctly I don't want to have to wait to get a follow up shot on it.
  7. Go to Dillon to get the B&P slugs. I ordered 100 before the Ironman and got them pretty quickly.
  8. We shoot them a lot at my local match. I usually do 8's and spin them fine. I use a modified choke. I shoot the top once to get it going and then double tap the bottom as it starts to swing towards the back. Luckily MGM targets are located here in Idaho so I now have 1 to practice on at home. Prairie storm can do them in 1 but some places put a penalty on it if you knock the spinner over with shot.
  9. There is a company called 3 gun stuff that makes a plastic throw lever for the PA 1x6. I have one and it has worked great. Fit is good and have yet to break it.
  10. The Wolff EP hammer spring is part # 832603 from Midway. I didn't really notice an increase in trigger pull to be honest. But I have been a shotgun shooter for a long time and left the triggers stock on them for the most part. Instead of messing with the springs, I prefer to put a trigger shoe on to help with trigger pull. I used those all the time back I use to shoot trap.
  11. I just installed the Dawson's pin last week and shot the Ironman with it. No light strike issues at all and I have an early Versamax. But I do have the Wolff XP hammer spring from a Benelli so that is probably the difference.
  12. I have the DeTurk Vest in the Quad load 28 Variation. I really like mine. I can dual load off of it when needed. The 28 is super wide though. I have a little bit of a belly which helps it stay in place. But you can add some grip material to the back to help it not slip down.
  13. Aimtrue, I just went to Midway and looked up Benelli parts there. I was having the exact same problem. I replaced my action spring and firing pin with a brand new one from remington. I used Remington for the firing pin as I couldn't find a Benelli one in stock at the time. I replaced the hammer, firing pin retaining pin and firing pin spring with a M2 Benelli one. And I also got a Wolff extra power hammer spring for an M2 and that solved my lightstrike problems. i did also get the firing pin from Dawson precision and have a spare M2 extractor for when mine breaks. Wild Gene, I have the exact same thing with my stock as well. I have tried red loctite and blue loctite. Mine comes loose in 2 places from time to time. First is right at the back of the receiver where the action spring tube connects. I just re-did the red loctite on this and hope it stays tight. My stock bolt also comes loose as well. I just replaced the locking washer and blue loctited it so I hope that helps it out. I also found on my stock that what Remington refers to as the pivot block, was broken in 3 places on mine, so I am not sure if that contributed to it as well. I got all new parts installed so I hope she olds together for the Ironman next week.
  14. Extending past the end of the barrel isn't a big deal. I have the Carbon Arms Versa Tube on mine. I would consider this as it helps with some of the POI issues with slugs.
  15. Also, just a heads up for my fellow VM owners, Dawson Precision has a aftermarket firing pin for the VM. I ordered one and am going to throw it in.
  16. I have tried to not move my hand onto the area and maintain my grip as I do when shooting, but that is hard on my wrist. I am going to give the Nomex a try as I am shooting the Ironman next week and that involves a little bit of shotgun shooting.
  17. I just ordered some of that black nomex. What did you use to cut it? was there any fraying?
  18. So here is another weak part to add to the list. When you remove the stock, there are 2 pieces that attach to the back of the receiver to hold the stock in place. The bottom one on mine snapped in 2. I found it when I pulled the stock off the other day. I put it back in as I had a shoot on Saturday. The gun still ran but it was a little loose.
  19. I have a Match that I use in 3 gun and USPSA. I love it. I did almost all the work to it myself. I replaced all the springs and polished internal parts myself to give me a really nice trigger for cheap. I haven't had any issues with reliability. It has run everything I have put in it without any hiccups. I have probably around 2 to 3K through it so far. It is a great gun to get started with. Look at Henning for parts.
  20. One of the guys posted on our local forums that he contacted Vortex about this scope. The reply he got from customer service is that they should start rolling out in mid to late August.
  21. Ordered one from Remington last Monday and picked it up last night from the USPSA buy. Now if I wish I could say the same for the 700 in .308 I got with it as well.
  22. My link broke right at the back of the bolt. In it's defense, my gun was a high mileage used gun from a guy who shoots a ton. He also broke the link in his new versamax 2 months before mine broke. Also there was another local guy who's broke with under 3K rounds through his. I did change my firing pin, but stuck with Remington as I couldn't find Benelli in stock at the time. I try to post a picture of the broken link tonight as I still have it in the truck. So far my Benelli parts list is extra power hammer spring, firing pin spring, hammer and firing pin retaining pin.
  23. I have had my 3 gun stuff polymer one on there for around 6 months and have no issues at all with it. I also am not the gentlest when it comes to abandoning guns.
  24. So the link is the same? I broke mine and replaced it with another Remington one, but if the Benelli fits, I may grab that for a spare.
