Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I Just had my slide milled for an rmr and we cut it super deep and all I had to do to make weight was change the grips. We also milled the front sight down and installed a low profile Glock sight in front of the rmr. This gives me a super low cowitness backup sights that don't block my window at all.
  2. bushmeat When you looked through the scope was it on a rifle or just in the store hand held? I am just asking because when I first looked at one it was in a shop and I held it and thought the same as you but after getting one on my rifle I am really happy with the eye box! its not as good as the Vortex Razor but its better then a lot of other scopes out there. One reason people seem to think this scope has a small eye box is cause they crank it up to 8x and compare it to another scope on 4x or 6x All I know is that I was a lot faster with this scope in my last match then I was with my Vortex pst 1-4x The 200 shots were a lot faster and the true daylight illumination was faster on the close stuff and the really close stuff I used my offset sights so no difference there. both me and my friend had a vortex razor to test out and he shot the last match with it and decided to get the Burris rather then the Razor. I was really planning on spending up to $2,500 on an optic but ended up with this scope and truly love it. I have been shooting out to 600 yards and can watch the bullet splash off the steel!
  3. Let us know how the optisan looks I am looking for another scope for my backup gun. I just got the burris 1.5-8 xtr ii and love it but am trying to build a light rifle for my backup so thinking about something lighter.
  4. I have the Harris and The atlas, for me most of the time the 6-9 seem better to me. As far as quick deployment the Atlas is a bit slower but if you reach under and unfold the right side first and then the left it can be done very quickly and in most stages you have time while moving to do this. I can make faster follow-up shots with the Atlas that I feel will make up for the slower deployment. I think if you have one of each for different stages you will be happy 100% of the time.
  5. I guess it was on sale. maybe call and ask if he will sell you one for the sale price. Just shot my first match with this scope and it was amazing! The long range shots were so easy and the close ones were good too. I did use my offset sights on one of the really close fast stages but I would have even if I had a true 1x optic. I ended up taking 3rd overall and 2nd in Tac optics. If I wouldn't have shot that one hostage with my pistol I would have won Tac optics but that's another story. My friend used the Vortex Razor and is getting a Burris 1.5-8 XTRii instead! both of our decisions to go with the Burris had absolutely nothing to do with price. This optic Rocks I could spot my bullet impacts on the steel and watch the splash at 200yards.I had one miss at steel at 100 but that was because of running and being out of breath.. I saw the miss right away and was able to follow up right away. Calling shots on 200 and 300 yard steel is now possible. I know this is off topic but I Had a lot of fun out shooting to day and got one step closer to my goal of becoming a professional shooter. right now I am a few points from simipro and ive only been shooting three gun a year and a half. my goal is to make it to pro by next year this time. I love this sport! and I love all the wonderful friends I have made! This website has helped me tremendously and I hope by sharing some of my experiences I can help out some others shooters.
  6. My buddy got one of these last week and I got the burris 1.5-8 xtrii only about $150 difference and the difference in these two optics are night and day. The Sightron makes you feel like your looking through a small tube and it has a very purple tent to the image. the reticle is the MOA reticle and has the big center dot and covers up a lot of the target. The illumination is too dim for daylight. The burris has a big field of view and the black ring around the scope view is much smaller making it feel like the scope blends into your field of view much better even though its a 1.5 vs 1x of the sightron, The image was way brighter with The burris We also had a Vortex Razer 1-6 on had and the glass on that was way better then the sightron and barely better then the sightron. we also had a us optics 1-8 on hand and the Burris and Vortex were both way brighter and had a bigger field of view. The US optics had good image quality but the field of view was so small like looking through a straw. would be awesome scopes if you are not moving and your targets not moving but for 3 gun I just don't think they are in the game. So far for the price I think the New Burris xtrii scopes are going to be making waves in the three gun optic world. Te Dual focal plane reticle is awesome in the 1.5-8 and it is crazy bright. They also have a nice 1-5x for a little less money and it has a true 1x and daytime bright reticle.
  7. I got my burris on sale from Liberty Optics for $879 including shipping! Defiantly can't beat it for the price. I am really impressed with this optic. the more I use it the more I love it.
  8. What did you pay for your Bushnell?
  9. I am with openclassterror on this one Defiantly Tasco World Class.
  10. Did you figure out what was wrong? I am 99% sure the issue had nothing to do with the suppressor but maybe you found the problem because of it. im guessing it was not adjusted correctly and maybe the recoil was enough without the suppressor to jar the trigger lose but without as much recoil it just stayed stuck back. IDK though without being there.
  11. Shot about 60rds through this today from about 10 yards to 560 yards Had a bunch of scopes on hand even the vortex razor 1-6 and a US Optics 1-8 and to be honest I like the Burris the best. I was not expecting this scope to be as good as it is considering the price. My friend and fellow three gunner also liked it best too. The dual focal plane reticle is awesome! Illumination is awesome. Zero stop is super easy to use and very positive. zeroing the scope took only three shots then turn two screws on each knob move them to zero and tighten back up and both elevation and windage stops are set. One thing I don't like is that the bdc reticle gets thicker as you get to the longer ranges so it covers up more and more of your target. Another observation on the optics is that the glass is just as clear as the US Optics and almost as clear as the Vortex razor, however the US optics and the Vortex Razor are clear all the way to the edge of the glass and the Burris Gets a little blurry right at the edge of the glass, its not enough to bother me but its defiantly there. Some might not like the 1.5x vs the Razor true 1x but for me the 8x is worth the trade. I use offset sights for the super close stuff anyway. I have a match this weekend so we will see how it performs. I am really excited to shoot some of the long range shots!
  12. So I just got one of these today and have spent hours messing around with it and am very impressed I Have been comparing it to other scopes and so far I am super impressed! Tomorrow I will be headed to the range to test it out. I run offset iron Sights that are prototypes right now and they work really well so for close shots I use them because they are faster then my vortex PST 1-4 So the scopes I have compared this with are the US optics 1-8 US optics 1.8-10 Vortex PST 1-4 Vortex Viper 1-6 As far as illumination goes this is as bright as anything I have ever seen. Glass seems better then the PST and almost as good as the Vortex Viper but not quite as sharp. The US optics was close too but was defiantly sharper. Field of view is better then either of the US optics scopes. and both eyes open was better then either of the US optics scopes even though the one clams to be a true 1x. I am really excited about the zero stop on the windage knob. you can turn it 4.5mill in either direction before it hits the stop so its impossible for you to get lost. The Dual focal plane reticle seems to work quite well but for now im going to wait till I shoot it a bit before I give my opinion. The elevation know is quite stiff on mine and I am very happy with that. The windage knob moves easier and I am a little concerned it could get moved if I am in a stage with my gun slung over my back to start. Good news is its super easy to figure out if its moved and in what direction so if you look at it before you shoot you won't have any trouble. If you guys have any questions or requests please ask and ill try to let you know as much about this scope as I can.
  13. did the narrow field of view on 1.5 slow you down any compared to a 1-4x scope? from what I could tell off the rifle it looked like it would work good on 1.5x with the lit reticle turned up bright but it was hard for me to tell. right now I have a US optics 1.8-10 on my rifle and offset sights. however it has a small field of view on 1.8 and defiantly is slower then a true 1x
  14. Saw one of these in a gun shop a few days ago and it looked quite nice just wondering if anyone is using them for 3 gun?
  15. I would like to share a few things I have learned recently. I shoot with some guys who shoot benchrest pellet rifles.... not your average air rifle guys. if they don't get 23 out of 25 pellets in the same hole at 25 yards they are upset. and I mean exactly through the same hole not just a one hole group. I bought a rifle from one of them and can set primers up at 20 yards and hit them almost every time. Anyway what I learned was if you cant see exactly where you are aiming then you cant aim in the exact same spot each time making your groups bigger so for load development you cant get a scope with too much power, also cheek weld does not affect accuracy if your parallax is set correctly. Try not to touch the gun anywhere except where you grip it to pull the trigger. This is true free recoil. if your gun is supported correctly you should be able to have it sitting there and not even look through the scope and pull the trigger without it moving at all. If you see a heartbeat in the scope then your touching something you don't need to, or your gun is not supported correctly. I shoot free recoil with my AR and the only thing to worry about is getting your face too close to the scope and it hitting you in the face.
