  1. Fiat currency + near zero interest rates + monetizing the federal debt = PROBLEMS.
  2. It may require a beard to look correctly worn, also.
  3. Back to the matter of primers, I was having light strikes all the time with CCI so switched to Remington. I gather Federal are the softest so avoid them if for no other reason than safety in progressive presses. Is this really a concern so much as to go all the way to the hardest, or are we talking about rare flukes that are almost not worth mentioning?
  4. Firing pin inertia? Seems to me it could be from a pin stuck forward from carbon fouling.
  5. Shot a 2 gun match with rifle and shotgun and learned a ton, mostly by getting my butt kicked, but learned how to work in slug/buck into a stage plan pretty well.
  6. If you don't have a Match Saver, GET ONE NOW! It's WAY easier to adjust by one with that handy.
  7. Very fun match indeed, and quite glad we didn't get rained on! It was quite educational learning to use the shotgun effectively; I think I'll definitely seek out more events to use mine and get better with it. Looking forward to seeing everyone again next month!
  8. I was giggling to myself earlier while loading a batch of Blue Bullet 147's, that they look like crayons.
  9. 1. Sidewalk salt for the winter 2. Used deep fryer oil 3. Buoys for marking fishing spots or crab traps 4. Jug fishing for catfish 5. Raffle tickets 6. Bird seed
  10. The money you save on 69's, 77's, and varmint rounds well justifies reloading .223. As for 55's, well, it's in the eye of the beholder. As for swaging primer pockets, it's not just military only. Wolf Gold, some Privi, PMC X-tac, and a few others crimp, and a lot of Federal is what you might call semi crimped.
  11. Ah, well yes it's fairly straightforward to spot a crimp. What I meant to say was that it's hard to know if you've opened them up enough and/or if stuff you've picked up is too loose in the pocket. The gauge lets you know that. Combined with the swager I just zap everything once rather having to wonder. It beats the heck out of having to stop what you're doing on the press to deal with primers that wouldn't seat or find in the bin later a bunch of powder stuck to stuff because a primer came out.
  12. Just got a Dillon swager and a primer pocket gauge. Let's just say it's quite educational. No way would I have been able to guess which pockets were good or not without it.
  13. Everyone I talk to who does better at matches than I do is either using a 550 or 650,both rifle and pistol. Now, one thing that I will say is once you get above .308 almost everything then is using stick powders and then you're back to turret or single stage because big grain stick powders don't meter well thus not conducive to progressive reloading.
  14. Just did the same thing with a 550. I explained to my wife that it frees up spare time for me to clean the house and do other things she wants me to do.
  15. I love my Specwar 762 for multi rifle use.
  16. How is the 6.5-06 for barrel life and accuracy? I find a lot of used 700's cheap on LGS racks I could grab up and turn into that. A fair number of. 22-250's to do into 6XC too.
  17. It might get better w/ this whole battle w/ the organization.
  18. Awesome match! It kicked my butt again, though, BaDLY. Anyone know of any well enough paying job openings so I can afford a full time housekeeping staff to free up enough time to practice adequately?
  19. Is the problem with dummies that there isn't a material that won't wear out which wouldn't also put wear on the guns?
  20. Is Unique bad for accuracy, or just out of fashion at the moment? I found some on the shelves instead of my usuals so I grabbed it, but seems nobody here prefers it.
  21. Basically unless you're REALLY getting it all 100% right, you're better off with .40 and most people would be best to do a 40 to avoid the potential mess.
  22. Australian reloaders? I thought the gun laws down there got so stupid it pretty much wiped out all gun ownership, or at least reduced it to insignificance.
  23. Any reason not to use Unique with these bullets? My local source has a lot of it cheap and lots of old timers loved loading it for cast lead.
