A little more info might be need such as the gun, what you have done to it, type/brand ammo. Joe
  2. If I let the slide go lightly on mine in won't go into battery with the 13lb spring. It needs force or the speed of it slamming shut when firing to work. I'm shooting a G22 so I cannot directly to your problems. Did you cut any coils yet? Joe
  3. This is how I did it. The ISMI flat wound are pretty tough suckers. Joe
  4. Third Gen G22, Arredondo +5 basepads, THE Brass magwell, everything is good to go here. Joe
  5. Damn...Thats smoking! Draw and shoot 2 and reload, shoot 2 and reload and 2 final shots. Is this what you did in 2.8..+? $hit no, I wish. I haven't looked at this thread in a while. I don't remember how fast it was like that Merlin I just did it that way to work in reload practice without burning a bunch of ammo. My bad. JOe
  6. Currently I'm stationed at China Lake Weapons test facility doing avionics test and evaluation. There are about to be a lot of jobs opening up out here and I'm reconsidering the BP idea being as I will make better money at the other job. Also, I leave my current job on a Friday, and start my new job on a Monday at the same place doing the same thing, with better pay. It's contract work right now but soon to be civil service so I might be able to buy my time back. I'll be getting out with 8.5 years in. I went to honorfirst.com and read through most of the site. Thanks for the link and the time, Joe
  7. Well my time in the Navy is almost up and I'm looking at a career change. So in my job seeking I came across some U.S. Customs and Border Patrol propaganda and was wondering who actually does this and how do you like it? I have read through the website and look at the requirements and whatnot and feel that the hardest part of the transition would be learning Spanish but I took this in high school and did fairly well. So, what do you think of it? DVC, Joe
  8. Our club has about 70 members and it's the same way. My town, er should I say village, is pretty small though. I think Kruger has it right. DVC, Joe
  9. Are you talking about chopping off some of the mag and trimming to make it 170mm. If so and you get this to work, can you please do a how-to/write up with good pics? DVC, Joe
  10. Not sure if this is the right forum, but it's a bolt gun so.... I recently purchased a Savage 4x4 in .223 and am having a small problem that is becoming a PITA. I load the internal magazine with 5. Push the bolt forward and it strips a round off and up into the chamber. Fire. I then rotate the bolt, pull all the way to the rear in a smooth motion, and return the bolt forward, rotate. After the first round it isn't picking them up off of the top of the mag. The bolt seems to glide right over the top of them. I noticed when I was cleaning the bolt this evening that there were copper "lines" on the bottom of the bolt where the rounds had rubbed. I have changed the operator, me, and this happens with whomever is shooting the rifle. When I load the magazine I push the rounds to the back of the magazine. But if I push the forward an eighth of an inch it seems to pick them up. Any ideas? I posted this on Savageshooters.com also but thought this place has better traffic. DVC, Joe
  11. Sweet. Thanks a bunch. My G22 Limited/L-10 gun has one and I wanted it to be as smooth as a transition as I could make it. Thanks again, JOe
  12. So I got this new Glock in 9mm and was going to make it an open gun but I saw this really nice rifle that I had to have and blew the open gun funds on it instead. So I figure I might as well run this new Glock in Production and gets me a classification. So if I put a G21 mag release on it will it still be legal? Thanks, I searched and looked through the book and couldn't find exactly what I am looking for. JOe
  13. Got it squared away. Thanks, JOe
  14. Well I shot a match today with the 13lb spring and it worked like a champ. I like it a lot. JOe
  15. So we set up one of the new classifiers for the match today and got to shooting. What we didn't realize is that the classifier wasn't in our club computer. How do I fix this? I'm not sure if this has been posted so I searched but got so much it was hard to find if it was there. Thanks in advance, Joe Burroughs
  16. Well when I put the 15lb spring in it was REALLY long. Right around an inch and a quarter longer than the 13lb'er. It also smashed when the slide went all the way back. From what I interpreted through the vast amount of info on this site, smashing the spring is bad. So I ended up hacking off four coils, one at a time, until it fit in there without binding (I think that's the term.) It then felt the same as the 13lb spring when racking the slide. But not when shooting it. Please correct me if I am wrong, have ruined my 15lb spring, or am being a moron. Edit.. I didn't chop the 13lb. It worked like a champ. JOe

    Ipod

I have a 20gig mp3 player for my car that hooks up via the factory aux port. Works like a little hard drive that attaches USB style. You did the right thing by putting it away instead of smashing it. Then you would be mad for smashing it (loosing the money spent) AND for loosing your music. Commendable. JOe
  18. I'm on my 5th batch of a 1000 of Berry's 180gr 40S&W and have yet to have a problem with them. Ran in my Glock barrel and through my Barsto barrel without any problems. I ordered another 5k from Cabella's and paid 14 bucks to ship all of them. YMMV JOe
  19. I wasn't sure if this was the place being as I am talking about springs or if it should have gone in the Glock forum, but if I'm wrong someone will move it. Anywho, I busted my factory guiderod in my G22 and bought a stainless steel one to replace it. Along with it I bought a 13lb and 15lb ISMI spring. I put the 13lb in it and ran about 50 rounds through it no problem. Same with the 15 pounder. I liked the feel of the 13lb better. Which one should I use? The 13 or 15. Sorry, I'm new to playing with springs. JOe
  20. I haven't shot too many open guns but I shot this one at the Silver Buckle Match and I'm convinced. Open here I come. That gun is flat and fast. JOe
  21. Sounds like you have a control issue in seating the mag I do. I am so used to slamming the mag into my Para because that's how I had to do it. SLAM it. Then I start shooting the Glock and the mags don't take as much to seat because I'm only loading the mags to 10 (L-10) or 18 (Limited). I've been working on the left hand speed but I think it's going to take a little time on that. Ivan, like Big said, I was doing them SA style without one in it. From the looks of it, I need to be having one in it. Keep it coming, I'm off to practice. JOe
  22. When I try to go faster with the left hand I tend to launch the magazine into low Earth orbit. I'm working on it though. I put a G21 mag release on the gun and it seems to help push the button but I'm still having to flip the pistol in order to reach it. Experience is the greatest teacher, but lessons are the most expensive. I didn't make that up, someone said it but I don't know who. Thanks for the tip. I can't seem to get it slow enough to see it so I will take your word for it and work this out. Thanks, JOe
