  1. You are describing about 80 percent of the US Navy in that statement. I would like nothing more than to get out of the Navy and work somewhere that people actually give a s*** about what they do.
  2. I usually dismantle the pistol and drop it into mineral spirits for a minute or so. Every part of the pistol goes into the pan except the barrel. It goes on the bench with the foaming bore cleaner. I scrub all the parts with a toothbrush and set them on a rag. Blow them out with the air compressor, clean the barrel, reassemble and lube with Mobil 1 Synthetic. Done in about 15 minutes usually. I have a case of Brake Cleaner but at 3 bucks a can, I'm too cheap for that. Besides, I get the mineral spirits for 4 bucks a gallon at Home Depot and clean the pistol about 100 times before changing it. To answer the next question, I clean my pistol every time I shoot it.
  3. Well I went to the range today and I don't have much to report. I got some new gear today (Safariland Mag Pouches) so I had to try it out and of course everything was in a different spot from what I had practiced. The holster was in the same spot so my draws were on but my reloads were all over the place. I'm averaging a 1.5 second draw with an A zone hit at 15 yards and my reloads are between 2 and 2.5 seconds. Dry firing at home with my old rig I can get them down to 1.8 on the par timer (fastest and most consistent). As a side note, I think have figured out what "letting your eyes see" means. As I was shooting today I could see the sights move, the slide cycle, brass ejecting. It was weird.
  4. I usually carry a small snack consisting of a PB&J and some trail mix. Works like a champ.
  5. We shot this last weekend. Time was 12.35 and hit factor was 5.749. Don't know what this works out too. Hoping someone could tell me. Thanks, JOe
  6. A little background and info. Right now I am shooting L10 with my Para 14.45. I'm using a Galco Armortek holster and some Uncle Mike's double stack mag pouches. I have shot two local matches and am seeing my improvement over the time. I just can't seem to make my reloads any smoother. But it seems that they are only rough when I am on the move. For instance, if I am running around a barricade and trying to reload at the same time, I mess it up. The mag misses the tube, I can't seem to grab it right, something happens. So I have tried to reloading while standing still after the last shot is fired on the current target and it works a lot better for me. I have compared the times and the reloading standing still is faster for me because I am able to move a lot quicker not having to think about reloading. I guess what I'm trying to ask how can I improve the on-the-move reload? I ordered the books on this website and hopefully I should receive them soon. Thanks for the help. JOe
