  1. Based on what I have read here, I am with BritinUSA. This was a relatively new shooter and a female to boot. Odds are she will never shoot another match. The pistol was not hot and nobody was swept or in real danger. I think a stern and serious warning (preferrably off to the side) was in order, but that would have been it. I would not have sent her home.
  2. My Champion has about 250-300 rounds through it. 230 gr Win ball and lots of 200 SWC (Berry). No problems so far.
  3. Winchester Super Target. Been using nothing else in .45 for over a dozen years. Just started using it in .40 too.
  4. Since this was Glocktalk, I am wondering how any glock shooter can be bitchin" about running thru a course of fire without a safety engaged?
  5. I was going to school at night the 1st two years this show hit the air. I did not want to jump into the middle. Now, with all the fuss about this season being so politically incorrect, I decided I need to get up to speed. About an hour ago I ordered the first two seasons on DVD. Really looking forward to watching it.
  6. +1 both for Angus and Targetbarn. Will probably come down to freight to NM. I believe Agnus is closer to you.
  7. Go Cats! That was the first KY football game I have had a chance to watch since moving to TX. Darn few SEC games are broadcast here so I caught practically every bowl game with an SEC team involved. It was a rockin' bowl season! May have to get the college "ticket" on DirecTV next year. WOW!
  8. My wife is a PTA. She says there are new surgery techniques now that are not as radical as they used to be. Also a lot of the success depends on how had you work at re-hab afterwards. Good luck with everything! Rick.
  9. Ill fitting, gay looking clothes that I can take back to super crowded stores the day after Christmas. I am being realistic for a change this year.....
  10. Thank pal! Hope you and yours have a great one too! Actually I'll be in Grayson from Saturday PM thru Tuesday AM for Christmas. Rhonda's folks live there now. They are out at the end of Malone Lane. Hope to see some of the old AGC crowd. Best buch of folks I ever had the pleasure to throw some lead with!
  11. Blade tech has their quads on sale. I had my hand on the old credit card until I saw the post from Gary Stevens strongly suggesting we wait a few weeks before we buy any gear for SS. The quads seem to make sense to me. Heck of a lot smoother than resorting to the old back pocket for that last mag (or two)
  12. You know, having played these gun games for 20+ years two events stand out that really inspired me. The first was back in Ohio at a local IDPA match where I was SO. A guy in his 60s shot the whole match hobbling around on two canes. His knees were obviously arthritic to the point of not functioning. He shot the whole match with some old .38 revolver and a Uncle Mike's rig. Not quick and obviously in pain with every step...but he was grinning from ear to ear the whole time. The second was the Space City Challenge last year. A guy from LA came up the the stage I was ROing who had one arm that was affected by a birth defect. In essence that arm and hand were of no use to him. He had a plate on his belt so he could manipulate reloads and shot the whole match "strong hand". He was damn good too. Both of these guys were in my opinion, flat amazing. I think about them now when I get flustered with my "almost 50 eyes" or tendonitis flares up in my elbow on match day and I want to bitch about it. As far as I am concerned, as long as we can safely accomodate anyone with any supposed handicap they are more than welcome on any stage I am working. I can run a timer and push a wheelchair if necessary. Our sport is a lot bigger than scores and equipment races. Rick
  13. You will not go wrong with a new 550 and dealing with Brian. My first 550 was used. It gave me lots of problems. Finally found out the guy had substituted some non-Dillon parts and such. I ended up sending it back to Dillon for a re-build. I agree with the previous poster that anyone with a 550 would have to be in pretty dire straights to want to unload one. You will have one happy husband. Wish I could get my wife off the clothes for gifts kick. Merry Christmas!
  14. A sad day indeed. However, I would imagine he is roaming a magnificent veldt somewhere with trusty firearm in hand. DVC and RIP Colonel.
  15. Same thing happened to me in Ohio. The only gun game within an hour was the local IDPA club. Darn they disliked me. I showed up early to help set up, stayed late to tear down, became an IDPA SO...really tried to fit in and make myself useful. No use. USPSA guys need not apply.
  16. 5.5 Gr WST with a Berry 180 gave me 961 FPS/ 173 PF out of my Schuemann bbl Para P16. On the same day, WWWB 180 grain gave me 1021.7 FPS/ PF 184. The temp was 95 deg
  17. I switched to WST a couple months ago for .40..been using it in .45 for many years. No problems for me so far.
  18. Update! This is unfrickin' believable! A little background to set the stage........ At the January funshow at Reliant I sold off a couple safe queens and came home with two Glocks. A G17 and this G34 both with OD frames. Mrs.KyReb looked them over and really liked the feel of the G34. We joked at the time that it was to become "her" gun. This had no real meaning until the shit started hitting the fan around here. (NOLA evacuees) Since then, she has really gotten serious about shooting and self defense. We both took our CHL's over the 4th weekend, she is reading my Jeff Cooper books, shooting regularly...you name it! She is darn near as obsessed as I am with the gun hobby now. (I have posted this stuff here previously) So...Saturday morning I am still stomping around, still mad as hell that we had been robbed and that through my negligance one of my guns was on the street. I was fuming about the G34 this...the G34 that.... Then this conversation takes place... WIFE: I am sorry about the "G34" but I am sure glad they did not get MY Glock. Me: What???? Wife: Yeah, I saw it sitting in its case in the computer room. I decided to go over the manual again and brought it upstairs the other night. Yeah...upstairs where perp never got because he tripped the motion detector and ran off. Upstairs under the bed where she had stowed the manual back in the case with the gun before she went to sleep. Upstairs right where the G34 was still nestled in its case and NOT Stolen! So...wife never made the connection that "stolen G34" I was talking about was HER Glock. Tomorrow I am calling HPD to correct the report. Looks like the only thing the perps got was a 10 year old 35MM camera. Otherwise, we are just out a couple hundred bucks to repair the broken window and screen. So we have decided this was a cheap lesson. We found the holes in our security system and we are addressing them now. Futhermore...there will be no lax attitude about proper firearm storage. With the exception of defense pieces, everything else stays in the safe ...period.
  19. Wife and I just completed TX CHL course over the 4th of July weekend. You have to be a resident of TX for 6 months minimum before you can apply. Now we are waiting the 12 stinking weeks to actually get through the background check, processing and receive our CHLs. We cannot legally carry until then. Wife had just really got back into shooting with me to get ready for the CHL qualification. (I posted about this recently). She really started getting into it. Had one of my G17s talking. She picked up my copy of Cooper's Principles of Self Defense and read it straight through. She just came home for lunch to check out the damage. 1st thing she said was "We are going to the range tomorrow!" Thats my girl!!!!
  20. Just got back from cleaning up all the glass. The adrenilin rush is subsiding too. It made a heck of a mess. They threw a 6 X 6 paver stone through my window. I have a couple outdoor speakers sitting on them to keep the speakers off the ground. I'll tell you what, I hate losing the Glock, but it could have been worse. Thank God they waited until Mrs.Kyreb left. She probably was not out of sight before the bastards smashed in. Also, I have pretty much outgrown my safe, I had about a half dozen other guns stached around. Four are deliberate self defense pieces hidden but asscessable from about anywhere in the house. But I had a CMP Garand and a Rem 700 30-06 in a closet of the room where they grabbed the camera and Glock. I do not know if they did not see them or they could not hide long guns while they ran off down the street. Mrs. Kyreb saw a scumbag watching her leave this morning. Also some neighbors got a good look at them climbing back over my fence. ( He dropped my Bianchi 007 holster as he jumped over) . The cops got a good description. They are a couple of the better known thieves, banger crackheads at one of the several nearby slum apartments. I am waiting around for the window repair guy now. Sitting here typing away looking out my smashed window. I did strap on a G17 and a couple mags full of hydrashocks. I know it its like locking the barn door after the horse has ran off...but somehow it feels good right about now. Maybe just my security blankey......
  21. Got the call this AM just after I sat down at my desk. Our intruder alarm going off at the house. Drove home and found the back bedroom window smashed out of the house. They got through the downstairs pretty well before the tripped the motion sensor heading upstairs. Cops just left. So far I know they stole a Glock 34 and my 35MM camera. The camera was no big deal but that Glock was sweet. Just picked it up at the Reliant show last January. Probably had no more than 30 rounds through it. OD green frame too. I had brought it in from my car last weekend, got distracted, and did not put it in the safe. Damn. damn, damn..I am mad as hell! I am mad at myself as well as those damn crackhead sons of b!tches hanging around the dump apartments that ring this nieghborhood. Thank you Katrina, FEMA and Mayor White! I am also concerned the bastages got a real good look at my gun safe. I had six empty long gun cases downstairs from my move that they rummaged through too. Now I got nieghborhood gang banger crack heads that know there is a safe full of guns to be had here. We are probably at the top of their list for a home invasion now......
  22. 4.7 WST Berry 200 gr SWC Win LP primer Whatever brass I can scrounge.
  23. Just to wade into the fray here Kreb........ I have had the same trouble setting off 40 brass in 2 of my 610's, but had no trouble setting off 10mm rounds (both using std Fed primers, not Mag primers) I did some measuring and found .40 brass to have a thinner rim by approx. .005, some brands even a bit thinner Do you know how thick your moonclips are ?? The current S&W's are .036 thick, the Scher's from Brownells are .040 thk. Not sure about others. The newer 610's have a tighter headspace for use with the thinner clips, this would be the unfluted cylinder versions. (I only know this from multipule trips of my 610 back to S&W) Sorry I didn't see your post earlier, on one of those 610's the extended firing pin fixed my problem, on the other one it's an older version, I had got lucky and found a hammer with a longer firing pin protrusion and that fixed the problem. When you have nothing else to do and want to really get confused, do a search about extend firing pins here, you'll get a lot of info Thanks for some good info. I am using a couple S&W moon clips and another dozen that came from Dillon. I am at work right now but I'll measure them once I get home. I feel ammo is probably at the root of the problem. The brass I have been using is a duke's mixture with assorted variances in rim thicknesses. If I ever decided to get serious about shooting the revolver in competition, I'd use dedicated virgin 10 MM brass. As it stands, I'll satisfied to let Clark work out the bugs in the 610 and I'll address primers and brass once I get it back. Like most of us on this board, I enjoy tinkering some with firearms...just got in a little deeper than should have on this one. I knew I'd catch some poo for posting about my situation with the 610. But hey...who would have guessed an old IPSC guy would get caught exceeding his limitations on an endevor?
  24. The 610 is in the hands of UPS on its way to Clark Custom for a makeover.
