  1. I have one of those w/ a taccom 2-port brake that served me well for a few matches before I went to an ULW barrel. Federal Syntech 150's did not pass the plunk test, but that's a FP coated bullet. If you're interested I'd make you a heck of a deal. PM me.
  2. Yep, they make take a while, but they'll make it right. It seems like they've realized PCC is the next AR explosion and they don't want to pee in the pool. Just tell them to swap it out with one of their upcoming 'premium' models that they've partnered with leadstar on
  3. Have seen a few vids and was waiting for that one, but got impatient. Curious to see what the street price ends up being vs. buying a used or NOS mpx and adding a lancer HG + Timney or Hiperfire trigger. The thing I was most excited about was the gas system changes they previously mentioned, but nothing about it in that video, so...
  4. Get a concentricity gauge and find out. Or just shoot the stuff and see
  5. Primary Arms is blowing out an upper/lower set from Diamondback Arms. No experience with it, but for the price it's hard to argue with.
  6. Have you called the NFA branch to check the status and make sure your dealer didn't just lose the Form4 somewhere/lost in the mail? I've had some take 13 months, but lead times are down to 6-7 months now unless you get hung up in the FBI background portion (they're busy investigating high school parties). I did have my dealer 'misplace' my stamp for a few months until I called and told him it was approved several months ago. FWIW Silencershop/kiosk is THE easiest option, but you pay for it. I am on a single-person trust and have bought from online dealers, local dealers, and silencershop. All with varying degrees of headache. Place like GunProDeals sometimes have KILLER prices on cans, but you're talking about form 3 wait time + slow warehouse shipping + ship time + filling out your own form 4 (depends on your FFL) + local FFL fees. Have to decide what that's worth to you.
  7. Well, if this is any indication for you: I was at my buddy’s farm testing out my new Franken-guard build. It has an 8” barrel with an 8.5” Taccom extension WITH a port. As I was wrapping up he pulled and I knew he had an mpx he bought many years ago and never shoots, so I told him to grab it. I loaded up an MPX mag and a Glock mag with 10 rounds of my 135gr Bayou’s over 3.1gr of clays. I shot the guard and then immediately had him hand me the MPX... I bought it from him on the spot.
  8. One of the (albeit somewhat few) benefits of buying a complete PSA unit and not molesting it is... PSA will fix it/replace it. Instead of chasing the dragon.... why not get in touch with PSA? I bet they take care of your buddy if it's doing it w. factory ammo too.
  9. My question is... why? If you're not trying to go lighter and are happy with what you have, what are you hoping to gain other than a $150 hole in your pocket? That said, AR Stoner makes/made a 'lightweight' 16" barrel for under $75. It's what I started with and still have it in the safe. Was plenty happy with it other than a somewhat short chamber that most generic 9mm barrels have.
  10. It would be damn hard to beat a PSA unit for <$500 to start with. If you want to move to an MPX from there, cool.
  11. IMO Just buy the MPX. I'm on like my 5th itteration of AR9. From Colt mags, to Colt mags + ULW barrel to Glock Mags to Glock mags + guard, etc. My advice at this point is either buy an MPX or a Guard whole and call it good, with the edge going to MPX. The mags are absolutely fantastic.
  12. I bet that is SOFT. Does 3.0 clays make PF out of a 16" barrel? I love that load, but I have to push the max load to make PF out of a 5.5" barrel, not worth the risk for me.
  13. If you know you have a mandatory reload, don't load 32+ rounds just to drop it on the ground. Give yourself some margin, but download it to there. I bought some cheap ASC 20 rd. mags just for classifiers when I ran the colt mags.
  14. Do you have (even a mild) issue with gas to the face? If so, Raptor-SD. I ran them on my suppressed 556 ARs and loved them, tried it on the 9mm blowback and it got rid of what little gas to the face I was getting.
  15. I'd say the idea is that you can mash your whole extended finger against the release since you now have extra leverage as opposed to having to curl/stiffen your finger and hit a specific button. Same idea w/ the Odin on my colt-style lower. You CAN use it as a larger 'button' but the extra leverage allows for enough margin of error to just mash the thing. fine vs. finer motor skill That said, tightening up the mag is a double-edged sword. Your 'sweet spot' for locking in a mag during a reload is going to be smaller, along with ease of insertion of a loaded mag. Just something to think about.
  16. I posted this somewhere else in here, but I have/had several setups - Armaspec Stealth - Regular 5.X oz buffer - Blitzkrieg Hydo buffer - Taccom 3-stage Softest: Hydro. By far. More dot bounce though Fastest: Armaspec w/ homemade short-stroke spacer (delrin w/ hole drilled for center-rod to pass through) Best combo: Taccom I would imagine the Taccom w/ the SS upgrade would be the same as the armaspec in speed and still retain an edge in recoil management. My wife now shoot the blitz, since recoil is more of a concern than speed for her. I have no experience w. the MBX, but it looks like a better/fancier mousetrap as compared to the taccom. If I were smart enough to make the Armaspec adjustable via spring rate I'd probably still be running it. Didn't play nice w/ 5.5" ULW barrel.
  17. Which shows, b/c on the Glock mag lowers, it's all one piece. To the OP, I got an Odin and I can tell you the leverage you obtain over the stocker is MASSIVE, which is a nice benefit. Mag play seemed to be about the same, but that was vs. a brand new plastic one. Since I'll be a running a guard setup, I had to remove the ejector, so I'm relying on the Odin as my insertion-stop. I sure hope it's up to the job.
  18. Not an MPX, but I like a lower than normal mount on my optics and run two DPP's currently. I used a 0.5" UTG Pro riser mount. I think it cost me a whopping $6 on Amazon. I just run it under the cross-slot mount. Loctited it down and haven't had an issue on either rig. Here it is ETA the Leupy riser plate is also 0.5" at 8x the price. It is a slightly cleaner setup though.
  19. Bumping this thread from the depths. Buddy has a Gen 1 8" MPX he's willing to trade me for a Bren 805 'pistol' that I never shoot. With Gen 1 mags seemingly 'around' but hard to find/not cheap anymore are there any downsides to the Gen 1? Reliability, mags, parts? I have no desire to run other calibers. Will strictly be for USPSA PCC. I figured I'd be replacing trigger, adding stock assembly, Lancer HG, ULW extension, and Timney MPX Trigger right away anyways. I'm currently building a Franken-Guard and have been shooting a Franken AR-9.
  20. Side-charger with a cheater knob laid on the LH side comes in handy. Faster to charge (slightly) and props the grip up off the table just a bit.
  21. A LIGHT chamfer on both the top and bottom of ramp. One or two passes with some emory cloth/super fine grit sandpaper should do the trick. You'll break most of the edge when you widen that ramp at the bottom anyways. Think of it as a funnel. Widening it at the bottom gives you more L/R, but if you have a sharp edge on the bottom, it'll catch there too. Don't wait. Break out that dremel, some sandpaper, and the polishing wheel and get it done. Pretty easy fix IMO. You've already done the hard/stupid part
  22. To me it looks like the ramp dog-legs from right to left. Rounds are likely hitting the ramp 2/3 of the way up and getting pinched. You want it to taper down towards the chamber, but it almost looks like you've got it the other way around. I'd open up the bottom of the ramp and I think you'll like it. I also dremel'd my 5.5" BA barrel as an experiment and it seems to work just fine, but I was working with colt mags which required an even wider taper.
  23. Not just you... Thought maybe it was a defective unit. I tried the 'elite'/green version and had that issue w/ backlight. Could clearly see the rectangular circuit board, but the 'green' was Holosun's own design, so was hoping the normal 510c would be different. I have one on the way.... sad to hear that, but oh well. How do you remove the hood on the 510?
  24. So I have a regular 9mm specific buffer, Armalite Stealth (JP SCS knock-off), Kynshot 9mm buffer, and now a taccom 3-stage jobber, as well as some wave springs off of Amazon. I also took a JP carbine spring, cut-down tubbs, and rifle-length ar-15 spring, spring I took some time over the weekend inbetween rain drops to do some unscientific testing. Here's what I came up with: Rig: Colt-mag Franken-AR - 5.5" ULW taccom bbl - FMP Colt-specific bolt - 150gr. syntech ammo (until I get my LnL AP online) Interestingly enough I found: - The SOFTEST combo proved to be the flat-wire spring and kynshot combo. With the wave spring it was slightly faster dot recovery, but I found my dot movement up/right to be significant. I also took the BCG weight out, which again was a mild increase in speed. I'm going to set my wife up with this one (with BCG weight intact). Keeping recoil down to have her enjoying the sport is more important than speed at this point. - The LEAST DOT BOUNCE combo was the taccom setup w/ BCG weight removed and the rifle-length spring. Much closer in speed to my 'backup' gun that won me my first HOA which has a full 16" bbl, 2-port taccom comp and the Stealth Armaspec. My issue here was I couldn't get it to run right w/ the wave spring installed. I would get occasional FTE's and, for some reason on the last round of any mag, the trigger would fail to reset, but seemed fine (no following) when loading a new round? The recoil was assuredly much 'snappier' but still flatter than the kynshot. So for now I'm running the taccom/RL spring. The JP carbine spring seemed like I was picking up too much bolt speed and I was back to dancing dot again. So now I'm tempted to order the short-stroke kit since I ran one on the armaspec with good results.... but I can never leave well enough alone and ordered a CMMG guard bbl/bcg ?
