  1. I asked the question who it considered an Amateur on Facebook and its sounds like anyone else who wants to sign up an compete for the $25k amateur prize table versus the Pro prize table. They mentioned a WSB committee so perhaps there is a chance that someone could get bumped but it's not like the amateurs have to submit resumes like some of the Pro entries did.
  2. Check the video on tho previous page. Jerry talks about it.
  3. Full sized Glock mags are 17 rounds stock. Get a few 140mm extensions to go on the high caps. That should give you 22 or 23 rounds of 9mm for M&P, XD, or Glock 9mm. Taran Tactical extensions are popular. I also like the Dawson Precision ones. Also she might want to look at the M&Ps which seem to be much more popular for USPSA right now. They don't have the grip safety so that's one let's thing to worry about.
  4. Because it requires better stage planning. You can't just indiscriminately load the shotgun w your chosen number of rounds at any time you wish.Actually it requires less stage planning. You can't load off the beep you can load more when you have time or space. It forces u to shoot 8 load 8 or shot one load one, etc. It's an arbitrary rule for the number of rounds based off of an out dated barrel/mag tube relationship rule from SOF days that only serves the purpose of slowing the match down by forcing you to load less shells more often. One thing it does favor is weakhand loading because the gun can be loaded on the shoulder with less on/off the shoulder gun manipulation. It also favors weakhand loading because you can easily top off regardless of the number left if the tube whereas quad loading obviously likes multiples of 4.
  5. I love Production but if my wife were to show interest in would start her in Limited or even Open. Ever Limited minor might be good to get her a feel for the game without having to worry at much about changing mags and planning for reloads.
  6. Oh, I will warn that I don't know the weight on them yet. I have been meaning to check that to ensure I don't add more than 2 Oz overall on Production set up.
  7. Any chance this is with a new Pmag loaded all the way up?
  8. Time for a trip to Home Depot to get some dowels.
  9. These are the new 17 round CZC magazines but the 17 round MecGar sized SP basepads fit on them just fine. It's a safe bet that CZC had MecGar make those mags for them as they look identical to me even down to the Blue follower.
  10. I am not sure what to say. Before writing this today I tested a dry fire at .71 some it works for me.
  11. To each their own. But when I'm not in full kit with a firearm I wear a phone holster with my phone in place of where my my pistol holster would be. I have not pulled my pistol out to answer my phone
  12. I had better results wearing the ShotMaxx on the opposite side of me wrist so it is closer to the gun and then turning it to AirSoft mode. Also, understand that a partime beep will affect its ability to detect the hammer fall off of the mic only.
  13. As to the last point about Windows slowing down over time, Windows 8 does have a couple of features to "Refresh your PC" without affecting any of your program files. If it functions as advertised it should clean up the crap without affecting too much of what you care about. I haven't tried it yet but it's a nice idea if Windows is what you use.
  14. It seems like with the empty chamber starts there is now more leeway with unsafe gun handling. Think about a possible time penalty for dropping a gun coming out of a holster instead of a DQ... I like that most 3 Gun matches have some sensible allowances for gun handling but there needs to be a line somewhere.
  15. At the last match at Quantico Shooting Club they mentioned that a few civilian memberships were available for around the same rate as is mentioned for Izaak Walton. There is even an opportunity to open trap stations a few times a year to pay for your membership fee. They are holding USPSA and steel matches. The USPSA match was 5 stages and I was in my car heading home by 11:50 (and not because of a DQ). I will by trying to go there more often, especially since it doesn't take all day like some of the more popular clubs.

    New Rules

Yes, but doing this while not pretending to type targets is "gaming" and therfore reprehensible.
  17. Rule? Perhaps 10.6.2 "Other persons may be expelled from the range for conduct which a Range Officer deems to be unacceptable. Examples of unacceptable conduct include, but are not limited to, failing to comply with the reasonable directions of a Match Official, interference with the operation of a course of fire and/or a competitors attempt thereof, and any other behavior likely to bring the sport into disrepute."
  18. Not saying that is an issue here but I have seen some use "my hits are good" as a crutch that you prevents them from really opening up and being more aggressive in shooting stages. Your hits need to be good enough and it's your hit factor that you needed to worry about getting up.
  19. How well does the ported 17L work compared to a 17 with a comp? Is would depend on the load add the comp. Most comps need major PF loads to really work as intended.
  20. This is true. With a comp on a 34 it would be pretty long. However, comp's really don't work well at all unless you are using a slow burning powder, light weight bullet and a lot of speed behind the bullet. A 9mm would not really fit the bill on this but a .357 sig would. There are more than enough shooters shooting Major 9 in a Glock. I had a 17 with a good comp that made Major with a 124 gr bullet and 3N37. I guess I could have asked what tho oven gun is for. If steel challenge than you can get by with a light 9mm load and perhaps some barrel porting. Same goes for a 3 Gun open gun.
  21. The 2011 guys see the like CCI but most shooting tuned striker fired or double action competition guns shy alway from them. I have years shooting a Glock with a light trigger (it only ran on Federal) and I definitely avoid them for striker fired guns, Double/singles and revolvers that have had significant trigger work. M&P might not be quite as bad a Glock but using Federal or Winchester would give you a little more confidence for ignition.
