    Gray vs. Burke?

Bruce's triggers will be lighter. My current P320 pulls at 3 lb 4oz with stock, uncut factory striker spring and triggerbar spring. He is also starting to make more of his own barstock parts and springs that are going into his trigger jobs versus using modified factory parts. He is still dead set on having drop in kits available soon but in the meantime his hands-on work is the best. The wait will be longer but it's worth it.
  2. Great article. Thanks again for the information today regarding the new TDL and slide catch.

    Sig P320

The new slide release and flat takedown lever are shipping on new guns. You can also call SIG directly to order these parts if desired. https://www.recoilsports.com/2015/12/new-features-of-the-sig-sauer-p320/
  4. No to this... Just, please, no. It's not even funny.
  5. Sharing my response here too: ... A shoulder stock should be required in order to meet the Federal definition of a "rifle". The BATF has ruled that shooting a brace-equipped pistol off the shoulder is ILLEGAL under Federal law. If folks want to shoot a pistol, they have 7 existing divisions to choose from. So you could shoot a CZ Evo pistol waiting on a Form 1 in any of the seven divisions you mentioned?
  6. When I wrote up the proposal I envisioned it would be for people shooting an AR-like rifle chambered in a Pistol Caliber (9, 40, etc.). My thinking at the time was if everyone is shooting a shouldered rifle like we do in the rimfire rifle division today it would be easier to define the start position. How would someone shooting an AR-Pistol chambered in 9mm start the stage? Would they hold it like we hold our rimfire pistols now? I'm sure our new President and members of the board are smarter than I am on this stuff so they'll be taking it into consideration. If you have input you want them to consider prior to the January meeting email them but again please keep in mind we are talking bout PCC for Steel Challenge. That's the only proposal that was put forth and approved as a provisional division. In my proposal I didn't request consideration for USPSA matches. That should be submitted as a separate proposal. For a start condition it could be as simple as adding "or arms fully extended" as opposed to just shouldered.
  7. Based on what's been discussed so far, braces wouldn't be allowed. Rules say attached stock is required. Of course it's all subject to change though. Why would the rules require that? If someone wanted to shoot without a stock of think they would be at a disadvantage so why prohibit it?
  8. Sharing this post here too: "I don't think they should break out into two divisions. Dot's for rifles can be had pretty cheap and even iron sights on a short barreled rifle are much more accurate due to increased sight radius over what we are used to on pistols. Almost all 3 Gun competitions now toss Irons and zero magnification rifles into the same division. Also, I don't think it makes much sense to restrict based on muzzle device. Most will come with a flash hider already. Folks should be able to run with that or swap out for a brake. Also, we should have some provision allowing silencers/suppressors. I really do think a run what you brung for PPC makes the most sense. Unless someone can point to particular technologies on the PCCs that would constitute a big disadvantage over other setups. I am curious how we would handle pistol braces too. "

    P320 Limited gun

Most of the polishing I did was on the side of the stainless steel FCU, where the trigger bar rubs. That can clean up to the nice mirror shine. On the trigger bar itself I was working with 800 to 1200 grit and so far it looks like I didn't go deep enough to remove any plating. It know when Bruce gets done everything gets some kind of Teflon coating. Hopefully he will have something there for you to feel at Shot Show range day assuming you can make it out.

    P320 Limited gun

I think he is pressing forward on this again now. That is great news and news that I think many want to hear!I need to add that the stock 7#!!! trigger does not feel like 7 as it is pretty easy to shoot well as is. Taking a pound off of that is fairly easy. Polishing just the contact points between the trigger bar and the FCU (and maybe a couple other small parts like the striker safety engagement surfaces) should easily bring it down a pound and smooth some things out. You can also see how well it runs with only one of the two sear springs set into place. Beyond that it gets a bit more difficult. Changing geometry in a few key areas requires more than just work with some stones. My competition gun is sitting at 3lb 4oz with a stock, uncut striker spring and trigger bar spring. It sets off anything I have tried and it's nice to have a Production gun that doesn't require Federal Primers to run.

    P320 Limited gun

I think he is pressing forward on this again now.
  13. I broke my MPX out briefly after we finished setup for tomorrow's USPSA match. This would definitely be fun shooting at a USPSA style stage. USPSA has am important opportunity with PPC. It potentially missed an opportunity with 3 Gun, but no one that is know of is doing PPC matches on any significant scale. There is room for USPSA to step in if it can be reasonable with the rules on things like scoring and weapons handling off of the line.
  14. They are illegal on "pistol." if you want to run one then you need to be formally SBRed or have a 16"+ barrel.
  15. I vote for all minor. It makes the logistics of getting a competitive gun and load so much easier. Most will be chambered in 9mm and many will be SBR. It's easy to be very accurate with them at speed.
  16. Do we need a PCC forum now? I took my SIG MPX to the range today. I think I am just about ready for PCC. This could be fun.

    P320 Limited gun

I have used both the Taylor Freelance and The Springer Precision 140s. Both work well. Pick one and go with it. If you get Springer then make sure you get springs from him as well. I think he uses a Grams kit that goes to something else so it will give you 23 in 9mm but won't lock back. Not sure about 40 capacity but it should be around 20 +-1. Springer is still the only game in town for magwells (unless you do it yourself which is not easy). His magwells are a permanent modification on one of his grips or on yours. Not that big of a deal since grip modules are so affordable. Most of the folks going for Limited are using the brass mag well which adds 6oz. I have a guy who will machine a brass slug for the rear channel that adds another 2.5oz in a large grip module or 1.5+oz in a medium module. He was looking into carbide but it ended up being too much of a pain to machine. The 6oz Brass magwell should be enough for most people. I just bought an extended magazine release. I hadn't picked one up until recently since I had no issues reaching the magazine release; however, missing dropping a mag at a couple of recent matches made me change my mind. I think I pushed the release but since I was in a hurry I didn't quite push it hard enough. The extended release seems like it will give me a margin of error to ensure that doesn't happen again. Quality is good and it is working as expected.

    What Spare Sig Parts?

Out isn't too bad. Just turn the FCU over, push down and forward on the spring and use a pick or something to unhook it. Getting it back in I have found needle nose plyers to be a must. I think I have stumbled on a better way to get it back in as well that involves unhooking the rear leg of the trigger bar to get the spring in place. It's hard to explain but I will try to get it on video in the next couple of days. The internal diameter of springs might make a difference. I guess you can try putting a stock 1911 spring on. To remove the factory spring just hook the end over the captured wing piece and start screwing. I would, however, recommend just buying a new guide rod from Springer Precision or Gray Guns. They are thicker too so they add another .5oz of weight over the factory guide rod alone.

    What Spare Sig Parts?

Extra parts are still hard to come by but you might be able to call SIG and get some ordered. Brownells now sells trigger return springs and I would get a couple of those. When disassembling are reassembling the FCU those springs can be pretty tricky. If you aren't careful you can deform them when reassembling so it's a good idea to have one or two available if you are the type of person who wants to completely disassemble frequently. There are several little tiny safety and sear springs that would be nice to have spares of just in the event that you lose one when the gun is torn down. After about 15,000 rounds I have broken the small striker return spring. I assume a lot of dry fire contributed to that. It didn't affect the function of the gun when it broke and I didn't notice until I tore it down all the way and saw that it came out in two little pieces. I have also replaced an extractor but I wouldn't worry about that unless your ejection starts to become inconsistent. For recoil springs I use an aftermarket guide rod so that the recoil spring can be replaced using common 1911 style. So far the P320 has held up very well to abuse.

    What Spare Sig Parts?

Thankfully the design on that pin has changed so in the newest ones coming from the factory it is staked and will not fall out on you. Presently it's only something you have to watch out for when removing the FCU from the grip. I actually prefer the non-staked pin.

    Bullet weight?

I have done both. All things equal I like the 147gr with a stock P320 slide. Toss an aftermarket guide rod on there and a 13 or 14 lb recoil spring while you are at it.
