  1. because some people don't like Open.
  2. So, did the board open CO up for Level 2 and level 3 matches?

I have seen more people mention Gen 2 issues than Gen 1 for sure. Are you running Gen 2 magazines? If it keeps up you should contact SIG for sure.

Gen 1 or Gen 2? I still haven't had any failures with the Gen 1.
  5. Looks like Max is all in for Carry Optics. That's going to make it pretty hard to win with irons alone.
  6. My thoughts exactly. That's why you lean on USPSA Rifle, Shotgun and Multigun rules. The "P" in "USPSA" doesn't stand for Pistol by the way.
  7. It's almost like we have done this before. 5.2.3 Except when within the boundaries of a safety area, or when under the supervision and direct command of a Range Officer, competitors must carry their long guns: 5.2.3.1 Detachable magazines removed. 5.2.3.2 Competitors must use a chamber safety flag, or clear chamber device, that is easily visible externally to the gun when transporting from vehicles or stage to stage. Anyone found in violation of this rule will be immediately escorted by a Range Officer to a suitable range or safety area where appropriate corrective action shall be made. 5.2.3.3 Unbagged long guns must be carried, shouldered or slung from the shoulder with the firearm reasonably vertical. Match Directors may require this to be "vertically upwards" or "vertically downwards" providing this is made clear to all competitors in a reasonable manner. 5.2.3.4 Long guns may be transported or stored without a slip or case, whether or not reasonably vertical, in a mobile rack or carrier as long as a chamber safety flag is used. 5.2.3.5 Transporting non preloaded long guns from the staging area to the start position and back from where the shooter unloads and shows clear, the gun must be carried muzzle vertically upwards with the bolt locked open or closed on a chamber safety flag. 5.2.3.6 Transporting a preloaded shotgun from the preload table to the start position the firearm must be carried directly to the start position with the muzzle vertically upwards. 8.2.2 The competitor assumes the start position as specified in the written stage briefing. Unless otherwise specified, for a handgun start, the competitor must stand erect, facing downrange, with arms hanging naturally by the sides. For a rifle or shotgun start, unless otherwise specified, the competitor must stand erect and relaxed, with the firearm held in both hands, stock touching the competitor at hip level, muzzle pointing downrange and with the finger out of the trigger guard. Different stages may require the “ready position” to be prone, kneeling, sitting or as otherwise stated in the written stage briefing. A course of fire may permit a competitor to start a stage with a long gun mounted into the shoulder and pointing towards targets.
  8. Check the Multigun rules. Also, my SBR doesn't fit well on most racks.
  9. It would and the gun would still function but you are left with a gap under the slide where the recoil spring is visible when using a full size slide on a subcompact grip. For best results you should use a full size or Compact grip and cut it down to fit subcompact magazines.
  10. I think the submission deadlines for the FBI and MHS were sometime towards the end of this month. Actually, the base pad that was on the Target model was referred to as the FBI base pad. I noted in the RFP that the FBI wanted the base pad to extend some specified distance in front of the magwell. I assume SIG must have made other small tweaks to assure that it was meeting the letter of the RFP as much as possible. Who knows how long the competition will take and it's hard to believe that there won't be a bid protest but I can't wait to see the results.
  11. Maybe Shawn from the SIG Team or Scott Springer then.
  12. They had thumb safety models on display at SHOT Show. Really? Was it just for Military and Police? No, this one will be hitting the civilian market sometime this quarter. I only saw Compact models but suspect full size would be available as well. I think this will help with compliance in some states, but also there seems to be a demand from some of the carry crowd to have this additional safety measure for reassurance. I took one apart. It looks like the mod is just in the FCU and two new vertical slices in the grip module. I suspect the slides are unchanged.
  13. I have seen a few people do that. I think A.J. Stuart was one of them. You could find him on Facebook and ask about the experience. Basically most anything that fits the P226 dovetail should work, but many types will overhang on the P320. Bruce said he plans to offer milling for the P220 site above as a milling service. The new Target had a fully adjustable LPA on it that looked pretty good.
  14. It's not Yong's as it doesn't have the silicon carbide grip job. Yong is actually back to using the stock slide with fixed sights. That one has an adjustable milled in that comes from a P220 Elite. Bruce was also showing off one like this during Range Day that had a Grayguns prototype bull barrel.
  15. From looking at Natchez and OpticsPlanet it looks like the street price will be $300 for the sight alone or $350 with the pistol mounting hardware that has a number of dovetail mounts. I am not sure yet if the cut and screws holes are compatible with another dot or mounting plate but it know someone who I can ask.
  16. The glass looked good and it had a great range of brightness settings. I have been using a Deltapoint-pro for a short time and if I get a Romeo 1 soon I will do some side by side, but it honestly don't have enough time on either one to do a fair comparison. I am looking forward to the top load battery and having click adjustments, but obviously this dot still needs to prove it's durability. The Optics team say they have like 10k rounds of 10mm through one but I am anxious to see field tests back that up.
  17. At SIG Range Day and Shot Show I got a chance to shoot and play with the SIG P320 RX which is the P320 model that is scheduled to start shopping in February or Match. At a head scratching $799 introductory MSRP the gun looks to be a great value since thats price includes the P320, the milled Romeo 1 MRDS, and the cowitnessed iron sights gets (night sights on think). The Romeo 1 looked good and seemed to work well during range day. The battery loads from the top and hit has auto shutoff after minutes without movement. The sight adjustments require no set screw and work on 1/2 MOA click adjustments. Right now it's a 3 MOA dot but the brightness settings can help to compensate. I am still working my contacts to see whether I can get a demo model before the official launch.
  18. Is there evidence that SIG was pushing for one? Efforts by SIG to make a line of Optics and to equip it's guns with those from the factory were ongoing long before CO was being seriously considered by USPSA. Also, SIG is releasing optic mounted guns not only for the P320 line but also many of the legacy heavy guns like the P226 and P220. Just because Phil got a job there doesn't mean that he has anything to do with things that have been set in motion for years. These conspiracy theories are ridiculous.
  19. Yes. I can find a picture in a bit. I back filled epoxy inside the grip module and took a bit more than 1/4" higher. Honestly I didn't like it much because it removed a leverage point that the web of my hand had at the top of the grip.
  20. The people responsible for making it have more aggressive shopping dates in mind. Not all things go as planned but they want to get this out in Production legal numbers as soon a possible.
  21. Definitely did not copy the CZ/Witness grip profile. Roy from Bruce Gray's shop actually made the first prototype of this grip by taking a stock P320 grip and a bunch of DA290 epoxy to address the suggestions for improvement that the team shooters had for the current grip. It started with the mag well (losing the wing chops and making it easier to hit the front and back on a reload), and got rid of the thumb grooves by building up everything on the sides where your hands should contact. He left a nice shelf to ensure that shooters wouldn't accidently hold down the slide release, and raised and extended the beavertail as a nod to everyone who likes to use the phrase "bore access." The trigger guard was undercut, because why wouldn't you if you have a blank slate to work with? The shape at the back was found to help with controling the gun in recoil and the shape of the front strap was a result of building up the front without being obnoxious. I have been doing a lot of glue and grit jobs for the team so I will take partial credit for the design of the recessed grip tape panels which can also serve as convenient areas for glue and grit jobs. Finally, the bottom was specifically designed to make it easy to add an extended magwell for those shooting 3 Gun or Limited. No other gun was really looked at; it was just a hunk of plastic and epoxy that took naturally shape around our requirements and I think it's really cool that SIG will be producing it.
  22. I have known this gun by several different names already and possible that this is the gun that Max was hinting at months ago. It has gone through some evolutions and will likely have a few (smaller) additional changes before it gets released; however, I don't think SIG will be close to done innovating when this gun comes out. There are still plenty of very compelling enhancements that have been suggesting which could find their way onto a gun in the future. Regarding Open, you saw that the Target already has a magwell addition. Springer Precision already has 170mm extensions that I have run in my P320. The two additional things that I would want would be a frame mounted optic and a compensator. The compensator might be the more difficult of the two since you need a longer, threaded barrel for comp mounting and since SIG uses 13.5x1 LH threading. I am not sure what SIG's plans are for a threaded barrel for the target. It's certainly a possibility but I would expect to see threaded barrels for the full size to be available first.
  23. Maybe that's what happens when you have heavy input from competition shooters in the design of a grip. The preferences is to function and performance above cool looks. I hear Ruger has a new gun available if you just can't stand it.
