My local shop has had Federals for about 4 months now, Last weekend he said alot of his suppliers are out again. I stocked up on 4,000 of them , but looks like its going to be a dry summer
Toss up between Federal and Winchester for me . Have a few thousand loaded of each. But If I had to pick just one, it would be Federal. Never a single problem with sizing or priming. Just seems like the way to go
I have never "precleaned" a case before reloading . I have run easily 20k cases thru a carbide die without a trace of die scoring or wear. 1/2 hour in the sonic cleaner, then clean primer pockets and inside with q'tips and into the tumbler with crushed walnut and nufinish for 2 hours and the brass comes out like new
I always check case length on used brass that i buy or scoop up at the range, and never found any that were really even close to max length. Just wondering but for other then uniformity or crimping does anyone really trim their cases ?
Its been over a year and a half since i've seen any pistol powder in s/w Florida gunshops. just paid $216 on g/b for 4 lbs of titegroup. My local says at least another 6 months before he may see any. around here 231 or hp38 is just a page in the history books. If you wanna shoot you gotta pay. Weird thing is the local Walmart usually has the 550 pack Federal 22lr for 23.95 and always has 9mm ?? go figure
Started with a F/A that I ran for about 2 years. Was okay and got the job done but was very loud. Went to a Lyman about a year ago and it made 1/2 the noise, guess Im sticking with Lyman
I have always used the Federal Match small pistol primers, at least 10-15 thousands and never had any problems at all. I'm loading 9, 38 super and 40 cal
