  7. Winchester 231 and Hodgon HP38 , (which is the exact same thing , in fact Hogdon makes 231 for Winchester) , is all I've ever used for the simple fact if my gunshop was out of 231 , i could use the HP38. Now that 231 and hp38 is no longer is available , Titegroup seems to be the the way way to go (until that dries up)
  8. Thanks miranda , I have both those plus others, and they are close , but I want to duplicate exactly. I'm sure there is some formula or quantum physics equation to replicate what ive been using . just got to figure it out somehow
  9. Let me begin by saying math is my mortal enemy, so I need some help from the Pro's. I'm shooting a 38 super SVI using 115 grain Extreme fmj bullet, 5.2 grains of hodgdon hp38 for 1123 fps , with col of 1.250 . The gun runs awesome with this setup, but due to the fact that hp38 is not available at this time , I'm am switching to Titegroup . What I need to find out is how many grains of Titegroup to duplicate the same bullet performance I was getting with the HP38 . Thanks in advance guys
  10. Having no problem getting primers at all from my local gunstore. Bullets I get from Two Alpha supply who carries Extreme and offers free shipping and his prices are very good. Powder is always available if you want to pay the price on Gunbrokers. No matter which way you look at it , if you shoot alot ..............reload !
  11. They said the 38 super std was a factory replacement , whereas the 38 super comp was approx 1/2 the height for extended mags . From what i gathered you could probly "squeeze " 1-2 more bullets in the mag.
  12. Thank God he has is mothers looks !!
  13. the followers, but as long as were on the subject , theres a difference in the brass
  14. Hi everyone, new guy here. Shooting 38 super SVI with a Caspian upper and comp. Want to order new mag followers from Speed Shooters Int and it asks if I want 38 super std or 38 super comp . Whats the difference ?

  16. Hi everyone. New guy here with lots of questions. Been shooting forever but just getting into race guns. I have a S/V lower with a Caspian upper and only 3 mags for it . I want to buy more mags for it but the listings are confusing. some say STI/SVI 140mm - some just SVI or STI 140 mm . do the mags interchange or is something different about them ? Thanks in advance
  17. 1) resize with rcbs carbide die 2) run thru second die to open case mouth 3) clean primer pocket with Hornady 3 stage power brush attachment 4) put in sonic cleaner with setting on high for 30 minutes 5) dump brass on pile of rags and use baby qtips on the inside and regular qtips in the primer pocket and remove all burnt gun powder 6) tumble for 4 hours in treated walnut media with nu-finish 7) dump out brass in sifter and reclean each primer pocket with qtip again to remove any dust 8) stand back and admire 400 rounds of brand new looking brass 9) prime, fill with hp38 , seat your bullet 10) take a well deserved nap
  18. It does say Strayer Voight on the bottom of the frame . I have 11 mags for the gun , all very slightly used so that should not be a problem for a long time . I did however wanted to order a bunch of replacement folowers. I assume the sti/svi should be the same. Great information Bamboo, thank you
  19. I ordered the multi pak spring sets , both the ulta light and the calibration pak . That should give me what I need. Thanks for all the good information. This Caspian is a whole new ballgame for me. I've always shot Witness because of the extreme accuracy , hopefully the Caspian will do as well or better

  21. Went to Wolff spring website looking for recoil springs for my Caspian 38 super race , and the only listing for caspian were mag springs . They have the assortment pak of springs listed under Colt , does anyone know if they are the same spring and if they will fit the guide rod ?
