  1. I may not be competitive enough to actually practice, but I'm definitely competitive enough to hate scrolling down through the Overalls to find my name. Limited for the Win!!!
  2. I know it's fun to play with hypotheticals, but I'd be pissed if I needed to sell my limited pistol at a huge loss to buy a 9. I'd do it, but I'd feel differently about USPSA from then on. CClassforlife: You sure you don't like this idea because you'd suddenly be higher in the overalls with your Carry Optics bug gun?
  3. One way to get some mags would be to buy a Canik that comes with a bunch of them off the classifieds section. Getting a backup gun could be considered a bonus. Just sayin, lol.
  4. If it were me, I'd try the CGW bushing and .357 bullets first, before buying a new barrel, slide, or replacing the whole pistol.
  5. The CZ video with Grauffel showcases the new lineup, and there was no Orange model in the video. That makes it pretty clear to me. Makes sense too, the orange color would turn the Timmies off, and there's way more Timmies than Gamers. Orange was an odd choice to begin with, why not red, or really any other color?
  6. If you go ahead, don't worry about windage, that recess depth isn't really going to make a difference. If you zeroed at 25 yrds, then you'd be hitting 1/8" to the left at 50 yards. I'd be more worried about the offset screwing up your index, and every time you look at it you'll be thinking "This looks janky".
  7. I've never tried lok, my previous grips were the cz factory rubber, with silicon carbide applied. I'd say these are equal in the way they hold onto your hand. For me, they are ideal. I have the hands of a tradesman though, so the peaks of the grip don't bother me at all. Someone with softer hands might not enjoy them. I bought these grips and my magwell just to spiff up my pistol. BTW, through this experiment I learned that not all anodizing is equal. The purple on my Armanov grips came off completely in 2 minutes. The orange anodizing on my Toni Systems magwell took 6 applications and an hour of the Oven Cleaner to remove the color. I can't say enough good things about the quality of the design and finish of the Toni Systems stuff.
  8. There is nothing specific for shooting that you wouldn't also want to wear for a hike or any other sport in the same weather and on the same surface. We move for 15 seconds then wait for 40 minutes to do it again. If you can crouch, and if your shoes can grip the surface, you are good to go.
  9. I'm intrigued by the tanfo option for carry optics. I have a canik and it is just way too small, I want a steel pistol that fills my hand like my CZ TS. (The CZ shadow feels small as well.) Looking at the Stock 1, 2 &3, I can't see why the 2 became the first choice for uspsa vs the 3, and why the 1 is hundreds of dollars less than the 2. I'm actually drawn to the 1 with the finger grooves. Are there important internal differences? This info is elusive, and I'd rather ask people that love to talk about them, instead of doing hours of research.
  10. Its not a matter of skill or method, those things just suck to put back on. I have 2 FF3s and a vortex rds. I plan to sell the FF3s and just use Vortex as my cheapo rds.
  11. Ridiculous! I like goofy and outside the box, but it looks you are also killing the usability, with all the weight way out in front.
  12. I like the magwell idea! It would be slick like the Dawson magwells with the inserts. nice work!
  13. I'll third the Bul, and their Govt model can be found for closer to 750-800. mine runs like a top.
  14. I ordered from them Friday and got a confirmation email. They also replied to an email question I sent them earlier in the week.
  15. It was 125gr, 135gr, and I think 147? its been a while. I tried different diameters too. they all just wrecked the barrels with leading in several pistols. Lots of people here had the same experience. Sounds like you got lucky somehow.
  16. Word of caution, if you do the Oven cleaner trick and leave it on too long, you can start some dark staining on the aluminum. If that isn't where you want to go with the color then just let it sit coated in oven cleaner for 2 minutes, then rinse and scrub it off.
  17. Armanov grips come in lots of colors and thicknesses. The less popular colors can sometimes be found on Amazon for super cheap. I bought these medium/short CZ grips in purple for $20. Easy Off oven cleaner removes the dye in the anodizing in just a few minutes. Now they are an innocuous silver, and I can use Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black to make them my first choice of color. I also ordered the Toni Systems czechmate aluminum magwell in a goofy in-stock color, instead of waiting 6 weeks for the color I really want. same plan.
  18. jb weld is what I always use. This is the stuff I got on Amazon-
  19. you'll be happy, I promise. It is so easy to do. I did my grips years ago and they still are perfectly grippy. I had grip tape still on my front strap of my TS and last night I pulled it off and did the silicon carbide treatment right over the waffle checkering. It came out nice, much nicer than the grip tape.
  20. the buffer won't hurt it but it might make it less reliable when its intact from shortening the stroke, and it'll stop your pistol when it starts shredding, which happens fast. I recommend not using them. I think most people don't use them.
  21. stop using grip tape and just silicon carbide them. 60 grit from Amazon is an exact match to skate tape.
  22. Where are all these "slow guys that caught up eventually"? I think that is an exceedingly rare person. We all know lots of the fast people that moved through the classes quickly.
  23. Forget that. Ejection distance is not a consideration for a major PF race gun.
