By the way, definitely try much lighter recoil springs. I use a 9lb RS, you'll likely end up in the 9-12lb range.

I can always find my brass because its up against the side of the berm, 8' past everyone else's. Its always been that way, I've got at least 30k rounds through my TS. Don't worry about it, pick your recoil spring based on sight movement. You could make your Dodge Demon last twice as long if you drove like a grandma, but that's not what its for.

ULShooter, Did you have to trim your (I'm assuming, short version) grips to fit to the magwell? I really want that magwell, and I'm wondering if I will need the Toni grips for there to be a proper fit between the magwell and grips. Toni Systems makes the X3D grips with a palm swell, but I just don't know if they are thick enough for me. I know that Armanov spidergo thick grips would work for me, but I don't like the idea of trimming aluminum grips. It aint hard, I know, but after spending $200 on grips and magwell I want it to look nice. Also, in the pic it looks like there is a surprisingly large gap at the backstrap. Can the magwell be slid forward to close that gap?

Considerations when buying pistol bullets
obsessiveshooter replied to Ontarget's topic in General Reloading
their lead is too soft. I'm thinking the higher velocity of 9mm has an affect on the coating, I don't really know. -
Your base pads are golden, definitely not the issue. The CZC followers and springs kinda suck, in that if they get bent the wrong way you'll have lots of misfeeds. Once bent correctly they work great. I'd try the grams springs and followers as a first step. I also kinda wonder if there is a burr, maybe or an issue with the extractor not letting the base of the case slide up the breech face. Or, what if the previous owner bought a 9mm barrel and a 9mm extractor and he left the extractor in. Something is really wrong because it should run perfect.

The above was complete satire, for the record.

They have 563 completed, boxed, ready to ship pistols, but the the 2008 Dodge ram that they bring the boxes to the post office in has dead fuel pump and the replacement fuel pump is on a container ship in the pacific. They could get a replacement part on Ebay but the Dan Wesson purchasing manager is a stickler for high-quality OEM parts. Something like that.

Armani’s grips and techwell mag well
obsessiveshooter replied to G17fan's topic in 1911-style Pistols
Yes they fit, they are specifically cut for both techwell and wilson magwells. -
No. 1911s and Hi Powers only.

If you can afford it, then that makes sense. 2 years ago I would have said, "why would you want to have and store 30k primers??"

TSO in 40, is that shock buffer needed? general feeding questions
obsessiveshooter replied to Guitarmageddon's topic in CZ
If it were me, I'd put the thumb rest back on now and see if the feeding issues come back. -
Why would you want to own 25 mags for any pistol? Wasnt that like $1000?
-
You don't need a thumb rest. Most Limited shooters don't want/need one.

Scam? primer primers1.com (10.21.21)
obsessiveshooter replied to meeesterpaul's topic in Announcements
I just saw a site with the ridiculous generic name "midwayusa.com" and I had 10k SP federal primers in stock, in my cart for $500. But I wasn't born yesterday! I didn't follow through with the purchase. I sent them a nasty email instead, the filthy scammers. -
I bought a PSA PCC 3 years ago. I needed to polish the sharp lip on the barrel's feed ramp, and after that it has run flawless. I put the 3.5 lb PSA trigger in it that they are now including with their PCCs, and it's a great trigger. The handguard they include is very nice also. Turns out I don't enjoy PCC as much as pistol, so it's good I didn't spend a bunch more to try it out. The difference in performance between a Lead Star and a PSA is probably negligible.

It looks like regular, proven 2011 comps have an 11/16x40 threading. Wouldn't it make the most sense to get one of those and a thread adapter?

I'm sorry that fix didn't work out for you. Obviously it did for me, but I agree, if I was starting over there is zero chance I'd get the CZC springs/follower combo again. I had the same issue with a CZC spring/follower in an SP01 mag with their +5 baseplate. I'm still not sure I've worked that one out 100% and I hate to waste ammo to try to test it as extensively as I ought to.

I'm looking to buy a 1911 45.ACP... But which?
obsessiveshooter replied to Rasmilling's topic in 1911-style Pistols
I bought this BUL 45 new online for $700. It runs flawless, and came with nice grips (I changed them for thicker ones). For the money, nothing else will come close. -
Thin Plastic L-shaped Probe for checking gas block alignment
obsessiveshooter replied to Frankly's topic in Rifle - Technical
Cover one end, blow into the other and you can hear when the block is lined up. -
Considerations when buying pistol bullets
obsessiveshooter replied to Ontarget's topic in General Reloading
precision, sns, blue, gallant, BBI, bayou all ought to be pretty much interchangeable as excellent options. The only brands I've ever had issue with were J Ames (horribly inaccurate, other members had same experience) and Brazos (they lead my barrels in 9mm but are fine in my .40). -
Best beginner progressive reloading press?
obsessiveshooter replied to Obvious's topic in General Reloading
loathmaster, that's funny! I have 4 Lee presses, and its no joke, they suck at priming. Lots of wasted components. Besides priming, you can load excellent ammo. With primers currently being precious, and me shooting less, I decided to hand prime while watching TV or whatever. Then, I can really crank out ammo on the press, never stopping to refill primers or deal with a priming issue. For the person on a serious budget, the Lee is a workable route if you prime off press. If you can afford a 750, avoid a Lee press at all cost! (Lee dies and powder measure are A+ though) -
Has anyone tried both of these guns? Comparison
obsessiveshooter replied to Liontracks's topic in Tanfoglio (EAA / IFG)
A local GM used to shoot the tanfo in limited. He broke them one after the other and moved on the the 2011 because of it. I've been shooting a TS for years and I just never have problems.
