  1. I will tell you what competitors want.... I was a production shooter for a long time. I still love the division; however, I no longer shoot it. It used to be the most competitive and popular division. Now there are 3 people show up (used to be 30+) at the local match. There are 2 people shooting SS as well. There was a section match in Florida in December with ZERO production shooters. Does not that show what competitors want? We have too many divisions with the equipment rules that no longer make sense. It is diluting competition and ultimately kills it. So at this point I see no problem allowing 2011 in CO as well as combining Production and SS.
  2. I'd also put SS into Production and get rid of at least one division
  3. I have done it both ways. A LOT. CZ is a good gun. But I am shooting 2011s now.
  4. I would not be surprised if 2011s become allowed for CO considering that pretty much else is good to go these days. What difference would that make?
  5. Not sure what you mean. I use grams stuff in all my magazines. 20rds reloadable and reliable as well
  6. I broke two things. 1. The ejector (from EGW) I think it was too long and I was hitting it during the reloads. The replacement was shortened to address that. 2. I also broke a dawson mag release. I use the IDPA length mag release from dawson because it's shorter. I broke it during the major match unfortunately. It looked like it was defective from the beginning. I called Dawson and told them about it. I got the replacement. it's a cheap part that takes 30 sec to replace but the timing was bad. Freak incident
  7. I was a production shooter for quite a while. Started with glocks, then CZ. I had issues with all of them especially when I used some aftermarket parts. I shot limited with CZ for a while as well. Also had feeding problems with some modifications and aftermarket parts. Everything was fixable even though some issues took longer to figure out. I broke quite a few things on all guns especially with 40sw. That included a barrel, frame, sights, and slides. I am not even mentioning springs, slide stops, and other small things. I even had to change a gun at the nationals in 2018 after multiple issues with my CZ... I used to think that 1911/2011 platform was outdated and too high maintenance. However, many people around me were shooting various 2011s with zero issues. I am talking about guns that are shot over 50K a year. Two particular examples of STI DVC were not cleaned properly and never disassembled in 2 years yet worked without any problems. The person who owned them just didn't know how to do that.... So I switched to 2011 last year. In my experience it has been the most reliable and low maintenance gun I have ever owned. I bought MBX, STI, and SVI magazines. I used Grams and TTI gutts. Everything works. The SVI magazines are indestructible. Yes, the gun is way more expensive. Yes, I broke a couple parts in it as well. But compared to anything else I had, it's just amazing how little I had to do to it.
  8. Rowdy, I have a question. What was your experience with the Legion X5 accuracy? A few threads about it on this forum got me curious. thanks
  9. While this advice is correct in general, my observation is most people do not understand what it means. If a gun feels good in your hands it doesn't automatically mean it is good for shooting... My advice - get whatever is logistically easier and start from there.

    X5 Legion accuracy

From various sources... it looks like the original 320 X5 pistols were very accurate while the Legion uppers do not shoot nearly as well. I just heard that someone who is a high round count 320 Legion shooter recently bought 4 320 X5 slides to replace his Legion uppers because their accuracy was poor. Barrel swaps don’t fix the issue, it relates to a change in the Legion slide. Any idea what is the difference?
  11. Yeah, I've heard about that. I need to check it out as well. The legion is logically easier I think
  12. I shot shadow 2 for 2 years. I liked it. Then I switched to limited because Production was dying rapidly. I am shooting 2011 and like it a lot. Recently I decided to double down with CO and got a CO slide for my shadow 2. As of right now I hate the feel, the weight distribution, and the recoil of shadow 2. It's good but compared to my 2011: 1. It's nose heavy. The weight distribution is radically different. I played with various recoil springs and could not find anything I liked. 2. It does point higher and even with 3 weeks of daily dry fire my index is not where I want it to be. I did get my reloads to where they were during my production time.. 3. What is worse, when I go back to my 2011, the index with 2011 is now off as well and I start missing reloads. 4. Shadow 2 is an excellent gun. However to me, the bottom line is I can't switch between shadow 2 and 2011 easily. For that reason I am thinking of getting a x5 legion for my CO (And Production) games. Legion has the same feel as 2011 and it is the deciding factor to me.
  13. In my area, production was the most popular and competitive division 4 yeas ago. It went south quickly. There are 3-4 people still shouting production here while CO gets easier 30-40 for a club match
  14. I think low hit factor stages are easier in general to be competitive because any mistakes including make up shots on steel for example would cost you more on high hit factor stages. This is just how the scoring system works... As a long time production shooter myself I feel the same. I did switch to limited just because I got tired of broken dots. However, to me, the biggest thing that killed production wad those 50oz "production" guns that are essentially limited guns. When everything was allowed by those infamous emails what is the point of different divisions???
  15. Just use the Grams stuff. I was in the same situation and went through all that modification jazz. Eventually I threw everything away, bought the Grams springs and followers and forgot about it.
  16. You can't put a R3MAX on CZ S2 OR. The cut is too short.
  17. SS and Production should be in the same division for sure

    X5 Legion accuracy

I tested one with iron sights. The accuracy was not good at all compared to my CZs and 2011 guns. I didn't spend much time with it though and I disregarded my results just because a lot of very good shooters shoot X5s successfully. I just assumed it was me struggling with a new gun. This thread and others on this forum make me think again.

    X5 Legion accuracy

It appears that the accuracy varies between identical X5s. Perhaps due to some quality control issues.
