  1. That's not worn, it's clean! I know it's a Glock, but clean and lube that badboy and I imagine you'll see an improvement. No need to get fancy - just some brake cleaner, compressed air, and CLP.
  2. I feel you on this. I placed an order 7/31 which also just shipped today, but delivery is scheduled for 8/20. Of course, I ordered them for a match 8/23, so assuming they hit the normal delay in IL (seen on my last 2 orders) I'll be spending next week working up a new load. But, you can't beat their price on plated... I ordered some Bayous - delivered day 3 after ordering. Assuming they work out I'm done with Xtreme.
  3. My finished brass gets a quick towel dry and then goes in the sun or the oven at 175 til it's dry, then is bagged with dessicant. Stays shiny.
  4. Did you use the lighter striker spring when you installed it. I believe it is supposed to come with a heavier trigger return spring installed - maybe they goofed it?
  5. Yes I use Xtreme 147s and load to 1.145 OAL.
  6. That advice is right on. I load 4.3 PP at 1.145 w Xtremes and get right around 900 FPS.
  7. Probably a cost thing. A "good" (by modern standards) 1911 style trigger needs either extremely tight manufacturing tolerance or hand fitting. On the other side, everyone seems to be copying the Glock style action now that it's off patent even though it's a "poor" trigger. But it allows for cheap cost, wide tolerance, and great reliability.
  8. The Walther has a fantastic trigger and ergos. I have 2 PPQs - a 5" and a M1. However, factory adjustable sights are worse than Glocks and there's really minimal aftermarket support. Cheap mags cannot be had for the M2 as they can for the M1. I wish they had done a better job of marketing it on release - the landscape might be better - the trigger really has to be felt to be believed.
  9. You need to zoom way in on that pic. That said, they look OKish from what I can see.
  10. Smart seller - no BIN. My plain barrel cap was covered in swarf. They must really be rushing to pump these out.
  11. I find this incredibly hard to believe. Have a sample policy you'd care to share?
  12. Never one to let a bad idea stand in the way of an ill thought out response, I wonder if you could cut and polish a .140" section from the end of a piece of 40 S&W brass and put it in the chamber, essentially reducing the chamber to .40 length? Not sure how long it would last (and if you'd be able to get it out once it got good and dirty and swaged) but thought I'd throw out what came to mind.
  13. have personally participated in no less than 3 find the front site exercises at various matches. not mine thankfully.. Good to know - thanks!
  14. My 629 has a quick change and that's never come out even with some pretty stout loads, so, does that happen? I prefer DWs method (set screw) but never had an issue with S&W
  15. Doubt it. Mine is pinned and has a 7/3 build date. The 986 has a quick change.
  16. Few other thoughts. If you are using the ogive seater then based on the brass the bullet is being seated in, the ogive will press into the shoulder a bit more with some brass then others, which as noted above will cause inconsistent OAL. There is also some flex in all progressives. You will have different OALs (all else equal) of the case being resized is sticky or there is not a case there during a cycle for whatever reason. Tolerance of +- 3 thousandths seems to be what I see with mixed brass even if you use the flat seater. And that shell plate bolt will loosen (and cause a number of issues) during a session unless pretty right.
  17. Did not know that but it makes sense. I'm back to hoping it just shoots out. A
  18. I don't think so. It closes and locks closed fine (other than the fact it spins as I'm closing it). If I intentionally close it between stops, I can spin the cylinder clockwise freely. The ball of the cylinder stop looks like it is angled on the left rather than square, but light wasn't good. I'll take pics when I get back Thur on the road a few days this week.
  19. Mine came in today. Also only one moonclip - were more expected? I know my 986 came w 3, but Id already ordered some from TK so an extra 1 or 2 won't make or break it. One issue though. When I close the cylinder after reloading I'm using applying pressure in the cylinder clockwise to get it to lock solidly in place. But it won't. The cylinder just spins not locking up until it stops moving. It will then engage the stop. The stop doesn't appear to be sticking - I'm wondering if it's just a bit short or perhaps gunked up inside. Well see when I get it apart later this week. Trigger is about what I expect to see from a new PC gun - nothing special. Hopefully a cleaning and some shooting clears up the issue...
  20. I use an RMR with lone wolf 6 port barrel, 11 lb spring. You'd be better off w sjc frame mount for an RMR, I use a dovetail mount. Zev fulcrum and magwell rounds out a cheap(ish) open gun. I run 100 GR bullets about 1300 FPS with power pistol. You'll want a slower powder and lighter bullet to work the ports / comps.
