  1. This is an old thread but i found it very interesting. For some reason, I can't see the pics of the fps.
  2. Well, we like shooting with you! We don't care if you fence or not. We definitely need to get you into limited though. It's so much more funner.
  3. I would think that there are many answers to your question and it would be different for each black person that had ever thought about shooting this sport. I'm in the same boat with most other shooters in that I shoot with a very diverse crowd. I've invited lots of people, of all different colors, to shoot a match and I don't think I've had one person take me up on the offer. I've even offered to loan people the gear and still get turned down.
  4. I hope like hell that they run a half day format next year. We started at 8am and finished around 7pm. Good lawd! This would be a perfect match for a half day format too. Thanks to the RO's for busting their humps.
  5. The bullet on the left is from my first order. They both weigh 180gr.
  6. I just started shooting the precision Delta 180gr bullets. I started wit 1000 last month and I liked them well enough that I bought another 2k a couple of weeks ago. I was originally loading to a 168PF but loaded a few with an added .1 gr of powder. They seemed to be more accurate so I finally chrono'd them. The 1st 3 were running around 960fps but the last 5 were only running around 935fps. I thought that it was my cheap ass chrono on the fritz, even though it has always been the same as every match chrono they have been run across. So, I come home today to load up for SC sectional and I am loading with the new batch of Precision Deltas and I notice that my OAL has gone from 1.165 to 1.180. I had loaded some of these for the Spartanburg match too but they were mostly from the older batch. I think that is why I had different velocities. After I noticed that the new batch was longer, I was looking closer at them and realized that they were not the same profile. The new batch is more narrow at the tip and has a longer profile. I'll post some pics when I have a minute. I thought it was kind of weird. Anybody know if they are using a newer mold or something? Thanks
  7. I've been using live rounds, unless I'm practicing unloaded starts, then I use one dummy round on top. I guess making 20 dummy rounds would be safer. I just never even thought about it.
  8. This right here. I was having much the same problems so I finally took my dry fire outside. I use four scale targets, 2 each on the right front side and right rear side of my house. I use sticks as fault lines. I draw and shoot 2 targets, mag change in 1 step, haul ass to the fault line and shoot the last 2 targets. I do this moving right and then I do it moving left. It is imperative to have that magazine changed within 1 step, then I can focus on the spot that I want my plant foot to land. I'm an old fat bastard but this drill has taken an average of 7 seconds off my match times on a 5 stage match.
  9. I'd definitely send it back. I have around 13k through mine and the barrel looks new. Well, It does if I clean it.
  10. I carry 3. Starting mag comes from my magnet.
  11. That's the truth! If you don't register within the first 12 hours that a local match opens, your not getting in. That goes for every match within 2 hours of Charlotte NC.
  12. Legal during make ready. Your original post states that the shooter loaded a magazine into the pistol and then proceeded to dry fire. It did not say that he had a finger inside the trigger guard while inserting a magazine. 8.4.1 When loading, reloading or unloading during a course of fire, the competitor’s fingers must be visibly outside the trigger guard and the handgun must be pointed safely down range or in another safe direction authorized by a Range Officer (see Section 10.5). If the shooter had his finger inside the trigger guard, while loading, at the make ready command, it would be a dq. 10.5.9 Failure to keep the finger outside the trigger guard during loading, reloading, or unloading. Exception: while complying with the “Make Ready” command to lower the hammer of a gun without a decocking lever, or while initially loading a revolver with a spurless hammer.
  13. I heard it was like a toll bridge. You have to put money in it and then it starts moving.
  14. I think you need to tighten up stage 4. Maybe throw in 10 or 12 no shoots or something. Stages look awesome. I can't wait for Thursday! It looks like there's still about 20 or so slots still open if anyone wants to sign up.
  15. I just finished loading 450 rounds for Sunday, been eating kale and fish all week and popping ibuprofen from a pez dispenser! I think I'm ready for the win. There's 2 O's in Goose bishes! Wooooo!
  16. This statement is contrary to my results. I just worked up some new loads with xtreme 180gr rnfp. I loaded 20 at 1.200 oal. I shot 10 of them over the chrono and was making a 161pf with 4.2gr E3. I ran the remaining 10 back through the press and seated them to 1.180 oal. It increased my average velocity by 55fps and brought the pf to 170pf. Not doubting your results, but it odes not seem logical that 0.02 change in oal will result in an increase of 55 fps which you stated increased the PF by 9. It is not possible to get a increase in PF of 9 (using VV reloading data) when using N320 and loading 180 LTC (which LTC and plated are suppose to be similar in loading data or at least for a starting point) the reloading table states a max increase of 0.6 grains (from starting load to max load) and only yields an 85 fps increase which is a 15 PF. In my thought process, I can not understand how a 0.02 change in oal influences the velocity so much as compared to the powder load. E3 is a very fast powder. That's the only reason I could think there is such an increase. I'm new to .40 but noticed similar increases in 9mm when changing the oal.

  18. because this f'ed up country is passing laws that say your ID doesn't matter. You can self identify as any gender you want at any time you want. So if you self identify as female or non specific eventually , you will be able to sign up however you choose. If things keep going as is, your ID cards will no longer have gender on them according to law. This is the truth.
  19. Being nervous is part of the thrill. I love the big matches. I shot my first area match last weekend, it was awesome. 12 stages of pure dee fun! Shoot it if you can get in, you will not regret it.
  20. Mine came with everything I needed to set the holster up. I was using a blade tech also.
  21. My CR Speed belt had seen better days. I am going to be buying a new belt pretty soon and was curious what everyone thinks is the best. Right now, I'm considering either the CR Speed or the Safariland. I run a CR Speed wsmII holster. What's your preference?
  22. My pf at area 6 was 173 with a lucky 13 180gr loaded at 1.180 with 4.1gr of E3. The smoke is gone as well.
  23. When we looked at the stages,on Friday, we were very underwhelmed. They looked like very simple stages. However, on Saturday, some of that steel looked awfully small. The stages were much more challenging than we thought at 1st glance. I was worried about about stage 2, 10, and 1. Those ended up being my best Syesha of the day and I really screwed the pooch on stone simple ones. It hurts when you shoot 8 shots, on an 80 point course, and you don't do your mandatory mag change! It was a great match and I can't wait to do it again!
