  1. On the $495 price Angus posted somewhere that price was a very special offering on the first shipment into the country. He said the retail price should hover around $550. Just a heads up - that's all.
  2. George, the reason that Flex asked about origin of the springs is that there were some problems with a batch of ISMI spring that were sold through Brownells. They weren't tempered right and with compression they took a set which made them less effective and they would not return the gun to full battery as you described. CGR springs should be fine. So should a 13 pound spring in a G17 or a G34. I would definately clean the gun and remember with these Glocks that they need lubrication just sparingly - don't over do it. One G34 I run with a stock rod and an ISMI 13# spring. The other G34 I run an oversized SS full length guide rod which is larger in diameter than will work with the ISMI springs so I run a 12 # Wolf with that one. IDPA doesn't allow tungstun and the extended length with large diameter SS lets me game the gun to the max and stay legal. Clean the gun and if that doesn't work buy two more springs - another 13 and a 15 and see what happens. I've shot 4000 rounds in the last four months through the G34 that is set up for Production/SSP with the stock rod and 13# ISMI with absolutely no issues whatsoever. If you are shooting a G35 maybe a 15 pounder. By the way on CGR web page he has an article called spring wars. Read it - you will find it interesting if you haven't read it already. Rick
  3. George, forgot about the different springs. Might sound funny but I hold them both in one hand at the end and then bend them with my other index finger. I can tell which one is stiffer and that one has the higher weight rating. Try it and you should be able to tell. Rick
  4. George, tell me about the problems that you had at the range today? The reason that I asked is that when I first put in an extended, full length guide rod my slide would bind. I thought that the part was defectice. It would slide up to the top of the hole and bind on the slide. I then figured out that the springs have two ends. One end is smaller and should go toward the front of the muzzle which will center the long guide rod and not cause slide binding. Maybe I am all wet, but when you said what you changed out and then that you had troubles, this is the first thing that I thought of. If I am way off of base forgive me. If this is what happened to you, put that lighter spring back in and the extended guide rod and you WILL notice a substaintial difference in getting back on target with less muzzle flip. I am currently running two G34s. One is set up for SSP/Production and the other is my ESP gun. I put a JP magwell on the ESP gun to round it out and really enjoy shooting that one. My splits and transitions are quicker with it. Again, sorry if I am way off of base here. Rick
  5. USPSA just seems like it has somewhat of a backlog and could use some more help entering data. Maybe it was just a short streak, I hope so, but it seems like clubs were updating the USPSA site by the first weekend of the month and the results were not getting posted until the next month. I guess that is a good sign that everyone is shooting so much that they are behind some.
  6. Sounds like a great time. It's funny that we will spend much bucks on equipment, but there is something in many male thinking that says "I should know how to do it" and many won't INVEST in training. Silly concept - most professional athletes have a coach. Sounds like a grand time.
  7. Matt made me remember that Comp-Tac makes a drop and offset locking paddle. It's called a Diva. I bought one for me wife but might actually shoot USPSA with it to see how it handles. It's not in the catalog but they make it - just ask. They can pretty much build them how you want it. Love working with Comp-Tac. Rick
  8. Ben, thanks for the insight. I see that things are up for discussion these days. No comments from the peanut gallery except to say that when things shake out I hope to shoot the state match. Ben and other Wisconsin shooters one side comment - Jay's having a match at Omro on Saturday. New club in Wisconsin, if anyone is interested. Personally, I will be trying to chase a turkey around the woods. Wish that I could do both. Rick
  9. Did you shoot LaCrosse this past weekend? Who said there isn't going to be a state match this year? Here is a link with the match dates set on July 30 and 31st: http://wisconsinidpa.com/calendar.htm As far as the clubs that I have shot in Wisconsin lately, everyone was just plain ignoring the new rules. No one ever has done any equipment checks and given anyone any feedback. I wasn't able to shoot this past weekend. Was out scouting for my turkey hunting stand location. Will hunt this weekend and back to matches the following weekend. Love to hear more info on what you found out. Rick Ingle
  10. Safariland 560 is popular. I shoot a Comp-Tac with the chainmail finish. I don't know if the draw is any faster, but it sure LOOKS good.

I know you didn't ask, but if you ever intend on shooting the "other" game (IDPA) you must have all safeties functional. Check out item "E" from the following cut and paste: 1. Non-IDPA-Legal Modifications for ALL Divisions The following modifications are NOT ALLOWED IN ANY DIVISION unless otherwise specifically mentioned. A. Compensators of any type including hybrid or ported barrels. B. Add-on weights for a competitive advantage (this includes, but is not limited to, weighted magazines, tungsten guide rods, brass magazine wells, weighted grips). C. Heavy and/or cone style barrels without a barrel bushing. D. Sights of non-standard configuration (i.e. Ghost rings, Bo-Mar rib, etc.). E. Disconnection or disabling of any safety device on any gun. F. Lights mounted on guns. Rick
  12. You guys make me glad that I shoot 9mm in production. Ran the numbers again tonight. Components cost 87.50 before shipping and tax and to buy the ammo it cost 91.50 before the shipping and the tax. Both numbers are per 1000 rounds. I'll shoot Blazers and let 'em drop.
  13. The light bulb is slow to turn on today - thanks.
  14. Maybe a goofy response, but have you cleaned primmer pockets on that particular batch of brass lately. Uniform primmer pockets are a good place to eliminate problems. Just a thought.
  15. Shred, I might have missed it - it's one of those days - can you explain: sho and who? thanks
  16. Thanks Steve, I was falling into the grip, rip bang camp with no sight picture and when I read about not dropping the hammer and aquiring a sight picture that made much more sense. Thanks for the great info. Rick
  17. How about a little twist to the thread. I see where many upload to USPSA the day of the match or the next day. How long does it take for USPSA to post the results? I think that 5 or 6 weeks is too damn long. Won't complain too much, but what's up with that?
  18. Ron, tell us more. I see where Steve Anderson doesn't pull the trigger on multiple shots since he is looking for a sight picutre not just a trigger pull. Maybe he pulls on single shots, maybe not. Is this what you are saying? You don't actually pull the trigger just look for the sight picture?
  19. No comment from Wisconsin.
  20. Why does everyone want to change the rules all of the time? If someone shoots the classifier and hits an established goal why would you want to put them down? I am sure that there are masters who shoot better than other masters, so what? Forget the whole classification system and everyone shoot scratch. Guess what, some people are still going to shoot better than others. By the way, I'm not close to a master class shooter, but I would never try to take something away from someone who earned their classification. If you want to add another category is one thing, but to put down some guy for meeting the requirements of the sport is another. Do some Experts beat some masters, yes - then they should move up - no need to tear someone's accomplishments down. Just my thoughts.
  21. I shot a USPSA match at a place that had a full auto competition later that night. While talking to the owner about what it took to legally own one he spoke of a woman who opened here deceased fathers foot locker and found a Thompson in pristine condition and brought it in to him to ask about it. He told her that she couldn't sell it and it was illegal to posses. He did set her up with a museum and she donated it and took it as a deduction on her taxes, but didn't just give it to the cops.
  22. Mathew, was it the Tactical that was about $1000? Hell of a deal for $500 for the regular handgun.
  23. sfinney, the P-01 has the street price of $495 not the SP-01. There is quite a difference between the two models.
  24. Axxman, buy as many of the sp-01 for $400 as you can carry and give me a call. I'm a hell of a marketing agent. I bet we can sell those $1000 guns for $700 and make a killing. It's just nice to know that IDPA isn't the only shooting org with controversy. Can't I just pull a trigger and have fun - politics is about interests, not about principals. Rick
