Guys, Thanks for your comments and help. I have started shooting with grip tape on the grip safety bar to assist in positive release.

Another posibility for IPSC may be a different grip safety that is offered as a factory option. It is well known that Sevigny showed up the the last World Shoot with Heinie sights on his Glock. He was also armed with a factory letter stating that heinie's are a Glock factory option. Q. is: are there any other factory option grip safeties offered by Para? I will contact Para and ask if they have another factory option that I could substitute - don't fancy my chances. Thanks
  3. Gents, I have a Para LDA in 9mm. Occasionally in firing the grip safety re-engages. I assume this occurs because either my strong hand grip is too high or too loose on occasion. It does not happen often, however annoying when it does. Specific question is - can I pin the grip safety and still be legal for IPSC production division. I wouldn't think this was allowed. Alternatively - can I replace the Factory Grip Safety with another - which has a raised base to ensure positive depression of the Grip Safety to prevent accidental re-engagement during firing, and still be legal. I note para has models that do have a raised base on the Grip Safety, and not on the LDA. Any help appreciated. Thanks Kiwi
  4. I normaly shoot Stock with a P16-40 SA, and have had a real kean interest I have just started shooting in Production division and begun with the purchase of a LDA P18-9mm. Wanting to reload my own rounds for minor PF, and looking for the softer loads, I have purchased some 147gr JHP to use. Is anyone else out there using the same or similar 1911 style pistol, and reloading with 147gr JHPs who would be willing to share some reloading data. Thanks Kiwi
  5. Fleximoney/Detlief Thanks for taking the time to reply to my questions. I'm real clear now - no more doubt at all. I think I did read a thread once about spring recoil, and in production guns, which led me to believe the spring change was somehow permitted. When I look at the rules now I clearly see the strict limit on modifications is quite clear. If its not covered explicitly then its not permitted. I actually agree with it and if I have caused anyone concern or offence through my questions please accept my apology, as niether were intended. The gun is a Para Ordnance P18-9mm that I'm using. Any advice on best loads would be appreciated for 147gr JHP Thanks again.
  6. Okay thanks for clearing that up for me - no shock buffs, thought as much. The reason why I have employed a shock buff is that I was experimenting with 147 gr JHP projectiles, over 3.6 gr of N320, and did not want to damage the gun in recoil if the spring was too light. Intended on leaving it there for security sake, and did not want to brake the rules. I have the understanding under the rules that main recoil springs could be replaced, and that in doing so I have reduced the recoil spring to 10lbs. Are you saying under Rule 19, 20 fitting recoil springs of less then OFM issue spring weight are not premitted in Production? If so then I will need to reflect on this carefully when working up loads - presumably so will many others. Any advice gratefully received as I obviously an knew to this
  7. This subject may well have been covered off, however on an initial search I could not locate the answer. Is the addition of a shock buff a modification to the internal workings of a IPSC Prouduction pistol that is illiegal? Can some one answer this for me? Much appreciated.
  8. To shoot Production I have just received delivery of a Para LDA P18-9, could well be the first one into NZ. I have loaded 147gr JHPs over 3.5gr of N320, which I tested at the range and recoil was really way down - allowing good frontsight retention and control. Probably hardest thing will be geting used to the trigger - it sure is smooth though. Swapped the recoil spring out for a Wolf 10lb as well, leaving all other springs as standard. When I finish the chrono I'll post some results. I'm interested to hear of anyone else doing similar or different things with a Para LDA P18-9, and what works or doesn't work for them cheers and all the best for the New Year
