Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. THANKS to everyone for their advice. Tom
  2. I have an AR-15 carbine, 16" barrel, 1:9 twist. I have only shot 55 grain bullets at ranges out to 200 yards with it. But how about heavier bullets for 300 or 400 yards. They should be more accurate, handle wind better, etc., but will my slow rate of twist be able to stabilize them? What has been your experience? What would be the heaviest bullet you recommend for 300+ yards in my rifle or don't I need a heavier one?
  3. I agree with the above- contact Vortex and have them solve the problem for you.
  4. I have to say that I have ALWAYS been pleased with all their products and dealing with Dawson Precision.
  5. Vortex for clear glass, great reticle, wide FOV, and great price at Southern Guns. And their "you break it, we fix it" warranty.
  6. Vortex makes some awesome scopes. I suggest you look through their line up. The Vortex Razor 1-6x is the choice of many but it's over your $900 budget. Then call Southern Guns and ask for the BEnos Forum price before you say they are too expensive- www.store.southerngunsllc.com
  7. I was told that the low prices Enos Forum Members receive from Southern Guns should not be posted so they don't get in trouble with Vortex. I think the individual selling the Razor that Pat Miles grabbed is indeed a screaming deal. Congrats Pat!
  8. I had been looking for a scope for carbine matches for a while. I currently have an Aimpoint red dot CompML2 (that I am now selling). After going to several stores, looking on line at dozens of scopes, reading many dozens of reviews, I wanted the Vortex Razor HD GEN II with the JM-1 reticle, but could only find it at $1400. That is until I read on this forum about Southern Gun. Several posts said to call and ask for Omar and say I was a Brian Enos forum member. But when I called Omar was on the phone and I talked to CJ instead. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my dumb questions. I couldn't be happier with the deal he offered me and have to recommend Southern Gun, CJ, and the rest of the crew there. BTW, the day I called CJ said they had sold five Razors.
  9. A very experienced friend uses the following for 38 Super: 8.4 gr Silhouette 125 gr Zero JHP 1390 fps
  10. I bought a used STI Open gun in 38 Super. Loaded the exact load the seller quoted me except for OAL. He said he used 1.285 and I didn't see how that would fit in the mags. So I used 1.235. He said the PF was 168 and I got 160. I chronographed three ten shot strings. I don't understand why?? Anyone have an opinion?
  11. I just started reloading 38 Super and had to actually (it is embarrassing) buy new brass (PMC). The first 200 I sprayed with One Shot (cases on a cookie sheet.) The next 200 I did not spray and could tell no difference in my 650. I'm saving the One Shot for the used stuff.
