Please please oh please ask our friends at HK to give us a full size 22LR platform! Or how about a conversion kit similar to the ones offered by Advantage Arms for Glock. I love my P30S and will always look for an ambi-friendly platform like the P30. But there are times when it makes sense to train with 22LR. Thanks and good luck with your shooting!

Hello all: My grip tape arrived pronto. Other than the obvious (unload and ensure the firearm is clear), what should I do? Clean the grip and just stick it on? I was planning to wipe it down with 99% alcohol and let it dry. I remember reading something about using heat, but I don't remember where I saw it. It did not come with instructions. Thanks. EDIT: Duh, never mind. I see the instructions at the top of this thread. It's been a really rotten week so not quite up to speed.

There is some advice I just take on doing an IDPA match sooner than later! On my first Speed Steel last month I wasn't the very lowest score, but very near the bottom. I shot from the low ready position, used just over 300 rounds, and average string was in the 16 second range. This month I was a tad higher from the bottom. I shot drawing from the holster, used 219 rounds, and average string was in the 11 second range. Not great by any means, but better than last month. Our club has an IDPA next weekend. I'm planning to go watch if I have available time. If it doesn't look too scary I may just give it a try before the year is out. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks everyone. There is truth to every comment : ) Based on my two Speed Steel matches, I admit there could be a valid reason to switch to a striker fired pistol that has no thumb safety. Yes I am slower getting my P30 out of the holster, sweeping off the safety, and getting the first round on the steel. I started drawing from a holster this summer so still developing that skill for ANY handgun. I'm most interested in improving my defensive shooting and I see the Speed Steel matches as good experience for a new-ish shooter. Maybe later when I've improved my speed I will try some of the other defense-oriented competitions. And I really don't mind the gun advice as much as I think it's funny. After all, the HK people know that WE have the best and everyone should be shooting HK ! ! !

I have an HK P30, which I love. I am a lefty. I choose the P30 because it fits my hand and it has a great fully ambi slide lock and mag release -- both of which I can actually reach and operate. I can handle it okay on the range, I've been able to take several classes this summer and I've done a couple Speed Steel matches just for the experience. I'm not an great but I'm competent and I'm progressing. Here is what puzzles me. I've lost track of the people who ask "What do you have?" And after I tell them, they immediately say I need to get this gun or that gun -- sometimes even before they have seen me shoot or even know that I shoot left handed and why I picked the HK. I just smile and thank them for their advice, after all it is offered with good intentions. However I wonder if this is normal gun enthusiasm, or people are not familiar with the HK name and they think it's Hi-Point, or maybe they think I don't know how to pick a gun because I am female? Nobody tells my husband he needs a different gun . . .

I had some light primer strikes with the 10lb hammer spring and winchester primers. All the federals popped with the 10lb spring though.. === Reviving this thread. What does "light primer strikes" mean? As in, the new lighter hammer strike was not sufficient to ignite the primer? As a new-ish shooter, this terminology is new to me. Thanks.

My P30S goes into battery from slide lock when I slap the magazine in. If I am wimpy about it, the slide will stay locked open. Also I've noticed if the gun is really dirty (like 1,500 rounds between cleaning) the slide will often stay locked open in a magazine change. But it continues to perform just fine. I don't normally let it go so long between cleanings, but I got kinda busy with other stuff and hey, it is good to know how the gun will behave under a variety of conditions, yes?

I was turning them upside down, but just wasn't filling as if I meant it. The guys at Airsoft Outlet in Forest Grove, Oregon, gave me a quick lesson and some test fires and all was good. Nice store and great customer service there.

Oh yes, on the reloading. He works the Dillon 650 while I mainly scavenge for brass : )

I've been shooting consistently since summer 2013. My husband (the spousal unit) shoots as well. I'm mostly shooting an H&K P30S in DAO/SA. My interest is defensive shooting but I'm venturing also to Speed Steel and other disciplines to improve my overall shooting. I don't give a crap about match scores but I do care about putting rounds on target when it counts. I am left handed end and naturally right eye dominant. But with training I can switch to left or right eye sight acquisition ad hoc. Being a lefty this is the reason I chose the HK for its fully ambi controls. When I'm not shooting the HK I'm shooting a Ruger SR22, an S&W M&P 22 rifle, or a New Frontier Armory AR-15. The spousal unit has his own NFA AR-15 rifle, Glock 40 and 45 ACP but the Glocks are not my thing right now. We also have numerous revolvers between us but we seldom shoot those. My goal is to improve in all areas of pistol- and rifle-craft so I welcome all feedback -- good, bad, or otherwise : )

Good feedback -- thanks. I developed the ability to call my shots this summer. I've been able to take several classes and do a lot of shooting on my own this summer, and one day I realized I could tell if it was going to be a good hit without looking at the target to see where the bullet actually hit. But I do struggle with inconsistency, jerking the trigger, off/on flinch, etc. Like I'm really good 80% or more of the time and really crappy the rest of the time. For me anyway the laser trainer has been helpful in cultivating a smooth trigger pull. I'm willing to consider any tools that may help me improve my speed and accuracy : )

Not sure if this is the correct Forum for this question. Please advise if there is a more appropriate Forum. Has anyone used the LASR software from SureStrike? If yes, do you feel it's worth the expense? What's the effective distance from the target? https://www.laser-ammo.com/L.A.S.R.-Professional-Software-License.html As you may know, the software works in concert with their SureStrike red laser cartridge for various pistol calibers. I have the cartridge for 9mm and the 40 S&W + 45 ACP adapter kit for the spousal unit. Really like the cartridge for dry fire. Wondering if I sure spring for the software.

Update: user error on filling the magazine! All better now : )
