  1. I think it is up to you. I have two Stock II's and one is dry fire gun majority of time. To me it is just easy to get parts misplaced or put the wrong springs back in etc. if it's the only gun your shooting. I read that for dry fire it was best to remove FPB, the XL FP, and FP spring you use in competition and then put back in place afterwards. FWIW
  2. I have a Dillon 650 and load 9mm and have 2 quick changes for .40 and .38 Super along with the conversion kit for .40 and wanted to know what all I would need to do if I wanted to start loading .38 super comp instead of just .38 super. Would all I need to buy is the conversion kit? Essentially I am thinking of changing to SC as super brass seems harder to find and my Tanfo Open gun will run both super and super comp. I was assuming the conversion kit would be all that is needed or could I just get a few certain parts needed for super comp and use some of the 9mm kit parts as well? Thanks in advance. Gump
  3. I've read and been told that with EG pin you should have a dedicated match setup and dry fire setup. Basically remove the EG pin and FP spring and put factory parts back in. Can it hurt? Guess not. Do I personally think it causes undue wear? No I don't but again parts are only meant to last so long. I dry fire a lot and it's not worth time to be swapping out all the time and I've once ended up using the wrong spring at a match and had light strikes. Personally I say run it how you would in a match and worry about dry fire vs changing parts every time.
  4. I got a pair of silver EG grips if interested? I need the ones that'll fit a large frame with magwell
  5. I've shot 10,000+ rounds of Bayous through 5 different Tanfos and have not had a single issue. I generally clean mine every 2 months or so or like every 2K-3K rounds but I'd venture I could prolly go longer. Bayous are great bullets and Tanfos eat them all day long. Just my experience
  6. I can't see any difference in accuracy between any of my 4 iron sight Tanfos, all a very accurate, I'm just not sometimes, lol. 3 of them have the cone lock bull barrel and 1 just the regular straight and all are dead on. I shot my Limited yesterday for the first time in a match and loved it. It was great to handle, ran flawless, the only thing was me coming from production, you gotta seat those 140mm mags when they're loaded full, lol. That stage was a disaster
  7. You can order the blade tech holster from Ben Stoeger pro shop. They have a few choices for the Tanfos. I got one that fits both my Stock II, Stock III, and one that'll fit my Limited (use the DAA Racemaster but could use Stock III blade tech one if wanted) and the prices are good.
  8. I'm using an 11# recoil spring in mine and it feels good. I did some live fire practice today and I've shot minor PF 98% of the time so the 169PF is a change but gun cycles beautifully
  9. Guys, I finally decided to do some spring cleaning of all my Tanfos and collection of parts and I've got a pair of silver EG grips "full size/length" that I don't have a pistol to put them on, lol. However I am in need of a pair of EG grips "mid length/short" however wanna call it that'll fit with a magwell. Anyone wanna do a straight up trade? I'd prefer black but honestly any color is fine. These are in great shape, no nicks or scratches etc. PM me if anyone has a pair. On a side note.......The newest edition is getting run tomorrow;-)
  10. No, I don't have one but I should be able to get access to one at the very latest the end of the month.
  11. That's a very good perspective to approach this gun. I agree the support in the states for Tanfos is lacking but one good thing out of that lack of support is I've learned to diagnose and do much of the work needed on my guns. Granted I am not a "true Tanfo gunsmith" but know my way around them for general purposes. Also I would assume that most 1911 platforms would be similiar in designs and functionality (again just assuming) and I am lucky enough to have a local gunsmith who specializes in 1911 style pistols among other things. Lastly I think the price is almost bargain basement all things considered.
  12. Do you know what Grams kit you used? Got one today and got 27 in fairly easy but 28 is way too hard to shove in but that's with factory basepad which shouldn't make a difference?
  13. Has anyone ever shot or had any experience with the Tanfoglio 1911? I don't own a 1911 and I'm sure their are numerous other models that are superior (maybe or maybe not) but I simply love the Tanfoglio line of guns. I have 2 Production guns, 2 Limited guns, and an Open gun which all are Tanfos and thinking of adding this so I'll have Single Stack covered and the ability to shoot any division for years to come. I did find one online at a good price it seemed below: http://grabagun.com/eaa-corp-witness-1911-45acp-8rd-2t.html
  14. I know you've posted a few chrono results using the same powder and OAL I'm using in my .38 super Gold Custom. Have you noticed a certain load that's shooting the flattest or seems to be utilizing the comp and ports the most?
  15. I have both the match grade 9mm and the .40L and I have one in .38 Super coming. They had .38SC but came out with the .38 super about a week ago. Checking rounds 100 at a time is so much faster than 7 at a time with the EGW. In case anyone looking for the new .38 Super for their Open rounds you can get them at Ben's pro shop http://www.benstoegerproshop.com/mobile/Product.aspx?ProductCode=CG38SR-100
  16. Dealer price is close to $900, so I think it's fair to say that you are not going to see them for $950. The only way you are going to see the price come down is if the availability increases, which isn't going to happen anytime soon. Finding one under $1500 is prolly a steal right now considering supply and demand. I've got a pair of Stock II's and it'd take a LOT more than $950 to get one from me
  17. I load my 147's at around 1.130, I could prolly load tad longer but I've never had a single issue with that length
  18. The grips that are thinner than the stock wood grips but thicker than the EG grips would be awesome, especially if they were aluminum grips. I also wouldn't mind seeing some different barrel/comp options for the Tanfo open guns.
  19. I know some of y'all have Tanfo Gold Customs and run .38 super. Ben's pro shop just started carrying them in .38 super and also have these in other calibers. I own one in 9mm and .40L and they are WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! I just ordered one and these make case gauging so much faster. You won't be disappointed. Tell them Gump sent ya and Tim will take care of you!!! http://www.benstoegerproshop.com/100-Hole-38-Super-Semi-Rim-Chamber-Checker-p/cg38sr-100.htm
  20. Thanks Scott, I think I need to chrono again to double check my results
  21. I think will depend on shooter cuz can't use in Production and can't in Limited unless wanna shoot Limited Minor (think gotta be .40 or more for Limited major) so I'd just put what you got in it and then discount being used and go from there. It's gonna be worth whatever someone willing to pay. Just my opinion it'd be harder sell in my mind than if was .40 but I could be wrong, may go in 10 minutes of posting.
  22. I want two and now just need to get them. 28 reloads in a tube will do just fine with me;-)
  23. So it's 170mm on the dot in length? That's the Tanfo factory 25 rounder? What kind of capacity are you getting with that long boy? I need one of them;-)
  24. I'm thinking 8.0 may be a sweet spot to get it flat. I've got some 115s too and will load up a batch before long and test those little devils out along with some PD 124s
