  1. You're correct. 9 mm Lugar/Parabellum is the standard 9 mm case people are referring to when talking 9 mm. It's 9X19 whether you load to minor or major power factor. 9 mm for major is for open guns. There are other 9 mm cases however. I'm no expert on this, but there is 9X18 (Makarov), 9X21, and I think our .380 cases are referred to by some as 9 Kurz - or short. You can neck down other cases I believe, but 9mm Lugar is so prevalent and can't imagine folks would spend the time doing so.
  2. The 1050 swage system has a backer rod that inserts into the case to support it. It takes the stress, not the shell plate.
  3. I haven't the answer either. I have 3 case feeders and the 2 on my presses are on a solidly mounted bench - no wiggle. They run 100% for the 9, 40 and 223 calibers that I load. The case feeder for my Case Pro is not mounted as solid and has a little bit of wiggle. I've been too lazy to stabilize it and it does what the op's post is about and only on 9 mm and only on rare occasion - but enough to be irritating. It has never done this on the other calibers I mentioned and I roll size everything, and have been through many thousands of rounds of each caliber. This inspires me to add support to the mount and retest but all my inventory is processed so it will be a while before I fire it up again.

  5. i run the 10-round Tripp's - 10R-10mm-RG and have not had any issues with them. Some people run the 45 mags and claim they work great too. There can be feeding issues depending on OAL, so folks play with mags to make them run. I've run Winchester white box and my loads from 1.7 - 1.2" OAL and all have fed flawlessly. Best of luck.
  6. Thanks Jack. I think you're probably right that more is better. I shot lesser loads the previous week as I was trying to figure a good minor load and working up to major. I shot 10 round strings that time. I'll give 20 a go with this load the next time I'm out and see if the numbers don't smooth out.
  7. On Friday, I chrono'd the following out of my STI Trojan and Executive: 180 gr MG JHP, 1.2" OAL, 5.3 gr N320 yielded a low of 168 PF and 174 high (SD 16). SAA but with 5.1 grains was 161/172 PF (SD 7) and 5.5 grains was 178/181 PF (SD 7). I can't figure out why 5.1 and 5.5 grains gave me good SD's, but 5.3 was so high in both gun. I don't usually shoot MG's, but I got a great deal on a case that I couldn't pass up. This at least gives you an idea of a jacketed round w/ N320.

  13. Yeah. I loaded a bunch at 3.5, just haven't shot them in so long I just can't remember. It's possible that is the better load. And I'm not sure how I went from 3.5 to 3.8 as I usually work up loads in .2 grain increments...
  14. This was the load I tested the other week. I also loaded 3.5 grains but didn't get a chance to shoot that. I really liked the load below and have shot it out of my G34 as well. Below is my data from my Pro Chono a few weeks ago. It'll at least give you an idea. Best of luck!
