  1. You clearly had a profound impact on this man's life and no doubt many others. I very much appreciate your service and am glad you shared this with us!
  2. It does, but if you visit the forums regularly, you'll be amazed at how many posts you can contribute to. To all you English majors, sorry in advance for ending a sentence with a preposition, but wording it correctly just sounds so weird to me...
  3. For shotgun, I use the small plastic flag as Eric described. I use this for my AR's. I've had them long enough I forgot where I got them.
  4. Very sorry for your loss.
  5. Have a blast and welcome to the forums!
  6. I know. The crazy thing is, today I tried all 3 things Dillon recommended. Removing the bearing fixed my issue. It's a S1050, not a 550 though. It didn't make sense to me either, but my issue is gone. The bearing does not negatively affect me loading 9mm.
  7. Just some thoughts you can try if you already haven't. I have a similar issue with my S1050 where the swage backer rod hits the case mouth on my rifle cases, ever so slightly, and maybe 10% of the time, it dents the case mouth. Dillon suggested that I, and maybe you should too: 1) push down on the shell plate opposite the problem die. If it's springy, tighten the shell plate. 2) if you are using the aftermarket bearing, remove it, reassemble and try again. 3) remove the shell plate, set it on a flat surface, as it would be on the press, and see if it rocks at all. Not likely, but you could have a bent shell plate. That's all I have. Best of luck!
  8. Bummer! Been there, done that. Hopefully you can get a refund and try something else.
  9. It bugs me too since the forum moved. I don't subscribe to other forums so did not realize it was specific to these forums. I haven't tried to learn the ins and outs of Tapatalk, so I can't really offer any suggestions., but I feel your pain.
  10. No to modifying the unit. He sells an aluminum support that goes over the shell plate housing (same black plastic housing piece on the S1050). It adds support to prevent breaking the CP housing, if there is a serious jam. He also has a piece that keeps the cases from being sucked back into the die and jamming the system. JMorris has a fix for this, but I wasn't savvy enough to figure out what he did. I thinks that's about it, other than adjusting the the arm between the slide and motor assembly. I haven't received my parts yet, so can't speak to everything. A lot of people here have added various versions of automation to their CP's with success.
  11. I have a PW driven CP I bought here a few years ago. It runs 100% for my rifle cases, but I have to use springs and endless tweaking to get only descent reliability on pistol cases. I've been working with Mike and I think we're close to resolving the issue. He's been great to work with. I'm no where near as sophisticated as JMorris or some others here, so I recommend that if you want to automate yours, buy Mike's. There are a handful of modifications he does to automate the unit.
  12. I read on one of the ss pin supplier's website, can't remember which one, they recommended when the pins turn dark, to run them using Simple Green. It worked great, so I ran a batch of brass using water and Simple Green. I have a water softener. I have a gallon jug from Costco on hand. It worked better than my usual Dawn and water formula. I haven't tried the Armor All yet, but plan to. I lube my brass before loading anyway. Perhaps the Wash and Wax would make that unnecessary.
  13. Mine came setup for 9 mm. Worked fine. I've since added a toolhead to process 5.56, and therein lies the rub. Arkadi, your picture helps a lot and makes it seem obvious how to set it up. I didn't pay close enough attention to mine when I converted and the Dillon manual photos weren't cutting it for me. Yours is great. Thank you.
