  1. Does anybody else feel like they are getting ripped off. Expensive guns that are needing work like the old Colt 45's use to. I thought the purpose of all this CNC machining was to keep the tolerance tight enough to control problems and limit the hand work needed. Those before pictures look like barrel fit job off a $300.00 gun. jus my HO
  2. Like I said I not familiar with Dawson pads. When Para changed there basepads design they had to make the tubes a little longer, about a 1/16". Old tubes with new plus 1 base pad would not lock in. Now I'm talking old para, my are from year two of the wide body production, right after they fixed the cracking frame problems. Para made at least three different followers also. On my latest rebuilds I ordered every kind of spring, and followers that brownells had. What worked the best for me was the new design factory followers, and the factory springs. The wolf, and ismi springs just didn't function as well. Nor did the arrendondo followers. I use factory ammo. Runs all the time, I don't clean the gun or the mags just wipe down with oily rag until next match. Once in a while I take a M16 toothbrush to breach face and extractor. I even mix ammo brands in a mag, wolf, winchester, pmc. They all feed just fine. So maybe your para isn't that old, wish I wasn't as old either. Look in archive of springs session, there was lots of discussion some time back about this.
  3. Gas tubes need to be replace when the little bludge on end gets worn down and doesn't provide a good gas seal. Kind of hard to inspect the topside of it. They last a long time if they are aligned correctly. That is something a lot of people miss when building AR's. most times a little tweaking is necessary. If a good gun starts to have problems short cycling look at gas rings and tube and pickup thing on top of bolt for wear. If you've worn down a gas tube, you also may have to replace pickup on bolt also.
  4. Buy 870 turkey gun and your on your way.
  5. Couple of things, the followers, brand of springs, and length of the tube. Para change all those things over the years. What I use is the new followers, new para springs, then my old long tubes will hold 17. You need a thumb buster to get them in. I have not used the Dawson base pads.
  6. I thought this stupid idea had been proven wrong ages ago. Repeated testing in Florida has proven that lead does not migrate to the water supply. the only way animals get lead in them is to eat it. Florida even pass a range protection act. Let them test they will find nothing. Lead is stable just like gold is.
  7. Did anybody get a copy of the overall posting. I'd like to see the how limited did compared to open.
  8. Thanks much faster than getting an answer from uspsa web page!!!!!!
  9. What does a club have pay each year for renewal? What does uspsa charge per shooter with one classifier per match What does uspsa charge per shooter with no classifier per match What does uspsa charge per shooter for special classifer per match Doing the books for next year, and can't find it posted on uspsa page.
  10. Boy that is ugly. So it is an expansion chamber with bore size hole in front? Will that pass as not being a comp? Is that a 4.15 slide on that?
  11. I've got a FFL, want to buy a STI frame, maybe a tactical maybe a short. Want to order a slide, tri top, with bmc cuts, and lighten cuts in 40. The STI sight mentions the lighten cuts and gives a price of $60.00 on retail side but shows no pictures. What kind of fit does a do get from a non matched slide frame kit? Interference fit that needs fitting? sloppy? won't go at all and need some mill work? Will any of the distributors listed order for you? I've looked at all the web sites and can't find this kind of info. Thanks in advance.
  12. STI gram says. With the IPSC decision that the "TruSight" gun is "legal" for Standard Division, the influx of orders has started with a "bang". USPSA has inferred that it will meet the definition for "Limited" in it’s original configuration. We are still mulling over the "expansion chamber". We find no Rule in the current Rule Book that would prohibit it. We’ll keep you posted. I can't find anything out about what this means.
  13. Cut off the stupid hammer drop lever then you can carry it locked and cocked. So it will be just like 1911 except the safety is in wrong place. Have somebody drill trigger for overtravel screw and it actually will become a fairly competitive gun.
  14. On a 1911 the grip models laser don't work for a lefty. For some reason I like them on my shotgun but not on my pistol.
  15. You should have hit it again when Alarm went off. Then say you'd love more in the afternoon, but gotta go now.
  16. It is pretty close as is. But..... I like to see Heavy metal, as class by itself with limited, open, & tactical. Or should we just say major power factor. Scoring to me is problem. To make Heavy metal competitive I think the A B C D scoring value needs to change between major and minor PF's.
  17. Although looting is bad, the real looting will come later when the scammers, come in for the fixup. Like in Florida and FEMA scams.
  18. I've got a problem with pistol on all the time. Some guy with a 2lb trigger and pinned grip safety is rolling around in dirt with holster that exposes the safety on the 45, so ambi safety gets pushed to off. Lets also say that holster is a new plastic fantastic that leave the muzzle exposed. Gun gets pushed out of holster or muzzle filled with mud. It ain't going to happen often but it aint' keeping with the belt and suspenders approach to safety. Not without going back to holster rules.
  19. Eye candy is wonderful. Some even speak. I use them for motivation to exercise. I try and go to pool three times a week to do laps. I always swim faster when some beauty is in lane next to me in her thong. Only problem with a University is that they never got any older and I did.
  20. Check to see if you've got the little plastic thing inside the extractor spring. Or try the Defender oring to increase extractor pressure.
  21. Gene Hackman, "If I ever see you again, I never see you again"
  22. brownells carries the california comp models. I don't like them. They are for 3 inch shells and are sloppy with the 2 3/4". Choate has similiar product just for the 2 3/4" shells and sells on line.
