My Ruger has eaten everything I have thrown at it from factory ammo down to mouse-fart 95PF loads. I currently have a cut-down and sleeved barrel to shave weight and love it for RFRI in Steel Challenge. The only rounds it didn't like were the 125s from Precision Bullets. They have a more rounded head and on ULSC the head would get caught on the rifling and I'd end up pulling the bullet and leaving it stuck in the chamber and power all in the receiver. This may have been solved by loading a little shorter but I don't use them anymore anyway.

Every match I have attended has been squad paint. Occasionally you will see a staff member go and paint as well, especially at bigger matches where there are more than 2 ROs on a stage. This has happened at WSSC a couple of times, but that was rare and simply an RO just assisting to move things along. If a match is squad paint then I firmly believe it should be the shooters going down to paint. Not the parents, not the spectators, etc.

I have a 33 with the TF Goliath and works great. The ETS 40s were also great. No issues with magpul or stock mags. I shoot Steel Challenge so the smaller mags are all I use now.

if they make this a thing for SC then I guess I'll have to get an adapter for my single stack 1911 to put a dot on it. Actually my current CO gun would still fit into the Limited Open category already. My current Open gun also fits. So I guess if there is going to be a Club 14 then I'm all set. My Caniks are already set.

Not that I'm arguing with Zack on this but just wanted to point out that it says "may" start with the safety off (for PCC, and RF). If you have a process of flicking the safety off on the signal, then you do you. It's shooter's choice. On a side-note, not that it would have stood, I had an RO at Area 7 SC in 2021 ready to DQ me for my PCC safety not engaged. I explained it didn't need to be, he looked at me like I had 2 heads. The looked at the rest of the RO staff and confirmed. But then kept looking at me like an alien. I finally asked him if it would make him more comfortable if I engaged the safety while I was making ready. He told me it would. So I engaged the safety, loaded the PCC and flicked it right back off once I was pointing at the flag. SMH

per a post from my AD there were some concerns about the language of the slot award proposal along with the fact that not all Areas have Steel Challenge matches. And apparently voting and commenting on the proposals were less than what was expected. Although I'd have to ask what was expected considering that there was just a special election for president and only 20% of the membership participated.

I shot a 15-22 for a few years. I've moved over to 10/22 but my 15-22 was stellar and can easily be lightened.

Just saw a post on FB from Weapon Shield founder George Fennell that Steel Shield Technologies is no more (this includes Weapon Shield). If you drill down the comments there is some hope that the company could get reformed and restarted. Yes, there are a butt-ton of CLPs out there, but I've used WS for years and for me nothing compares. Plus they were a PA-based company (where I reside). Hopefully George can get it back and running.

Yea, but you can go golfing just about any day of the week. Not always the case with shooting and competitions are only on weekends.

this is mine with the iron sights and my thumb (or the meaty part of my hand) are not in the way. And this is with really low irons.

Availability is getting better, but the prices aren't. I just got all excited for getting 5K primers for a total of $450 which included tax, shipping and hazmat.

I cannot speak to the JRC, But I started PCC with a Ruger. As I'm a Steel Challenge shooter, I still use it for my PCCI gun. I upgraded mine with Tandemkross parts, plus their Upriser chassis, and had Wiland cut down the barrel to remove about a pound off the front end. If you are going to run this in USPSA (and you are a righty) I highly recommend a right-side release no matter where it comes from. Another barrel option is from Taccom but you will lose the "takedown" ability... if that is even important to you. My Ruger runs Magpul and ETS mags like a champ (for some reason the ETS 40s worked better than the 30's). But the ETS mags can be a little tight and might not always drop free.

A good number of the folks in my class had only been shooting for a couple of years. They were taking the class mostly to get a better understanding of the rules.

I would recommend Everglades. They have fast and free shipping. Not to mention they have various sales throughout the year to save a little more. Berry's is another good option.

I don't see USPSA wanting to put on 2 WSSC's at the same time. But it could be possible... That being said, a WSSC in SD would be great. Just need 8 bays for competition (2 of them large enough for Speed Option and Outer Limits), practice bays and a place for vendors. Although not sure what the weather is like in April/May.

I was using a 15-22 when I first started RFRO. I was able to get the weight down with a Volquartsen CF barrel and a lightweight carbon fiber handguard. I dropped in a good CMC trigger. I also upgraded a number of parts from Tandemkross over the years. I have since switched to a 10/22 but my 15-22 still runs great. I had very few issues with it, I just wanted to go lighter. (The pic is showing a Taccom stock and barrel. I have since sold those to a friend that is a rimfire GM using his customized 15-22). If you are looking to get something for multiple people than the adjustable stock is a good idea.

Not sure what rule you were looking at in regards to aiming point... 8.2.3 is pretty clear: 8.2.3 In the Rimfire pistol, Rimfire rifle, and pistol caliber carbine matches, there will be an aiming point (marker, cone, flag, or sign) centered downrange directly in front of each shooting box 10’ away and a maximum of 2’ high. For Showdown and Outer Limits an aiming point will be placed in front of each shooting box. The competitor, while waiting for the start signal, must be pointing/aiming their gun at the aiming point with their finger off the trigger and the finger outside of the trigger guard. Each firearm may start with the hammer cocked and, if applicable, with the safety off. As for Showdown order typically you see the order of 1-2-4-3-S from the left box and 4-3-2-1-S from the right (assuming the small plates are 2 and 3). And yes, the boxes may have been a little off. Took the class and passed the RO and Steel Challenge tests today. Not that they were that difficult, but it's nice to get it done and passing on the first try.
