  1. Well, in your scenario, kinda. But that would only be if your GM times have now fallen below GM percentages after a peak time update. If you were already a 100% GM and don't shoot that anymore, not much you can do as the times won't drop THAT much. I would also think that most GMs would keep the title. As for me, not sure yet. I'm a GM in PCCI, but not by much. If the peak times change and it puts me back in M I might consider going back down just to try and get there again. Good way to be able to push myself.
  2. @ZackJones just an fyi - sent you a couple of emails
  3. #4 is primarily for shooters that classified in one level but after a Peak Time update they are now (technically) in a lower class. I'll use myself as an example. I made B class CO but just barely, like 0.5% above. Then the peak times were changed and now my classifier time falls into C class. But since SC goes with the highest class achieved I would have to take my high-C ability up against every B shooter at a match. Since every SC stage is a classifier, only your best times are kept. But if the changing of peak times drops your percentages #4 allows someone to reclassify. It's not really sandbagging since peak times are only updated once a year and if you went to a match an purposely did poorly, that doesn't reflect on your classification scores. So you are just hurting yourself
  4. I'm running a Tactical Innovations receiver. I'm currently running the Tandemkross bolt in my build. I'm going to run a test with the VQ spring on my charging handle to see if that helps run the SV with that TK bolt. VQ bolt w/ guide rod and spring = 6.84oz Ruger bolt w/ factory charging handle = 7.16oz
  5. My Wiland builds were running SV just fine with a Volquartsen bolt. I just switched to another bolt and it's heavier and with the -10% KIDD springs it still has issues. I just run the MiniMags, Blazer or Force. Interesting side-note, even though the Eley Contact is "SV" it also runs. Guessing it's a little hotter than regular "SV" or the CCI SV is not hot enough. If I have to run CCI SV then I'll just switch bolts.
  6. interesting... already knew this, but thank you for the clarification to squash the rumors thank you. love this, especially if you just barely moved into a higher class and then PST update technically puts you back at the previous class Truly appreciate all your hard work. Now we just need our SC-only RO class (will be moot for me since I'm taking the full class in a month)
  7. I am trying to picture the scenario you are describing. I can't think of a time when someone would uncase and then hold the PCC vertical while in the box. Every match I have been to there is a table/barrel/etc. there to put the case on. The shooter unzips the case, removes the PCC and keeps it pointed downrange. Those who choose the cart route the PCC is typically pointing towards the ground at an angle. When the make ready the cart is moved up to the box and they remove it from the cart keeping it pointed downrange. An exception to this is shooters that have a scabbard or one of those rifle sleeves. They will typically point the muzzle down, but still angled towards the berm. The rules have no provision for breaking the 180 vertically. They simply state to carry "reasonably" vertical. Again, still don't see a scenario where someone would stage their case and on Make Ready take the rifle out and hold it up. I have seen shooters DQ'd for breaking the horizontal 180 when casing/uncasing their flagged guns. I had to warn a competitor this past weekend that he was close to the 180 when taking his RFRO out of the case. He thanked me and changed his uncasing procedure so the muzzle was more downrange. In Steel Challenge you are seeing less and less that cart their rifles and just leave them in the case since there is usually someplace to put the case next to the box. I wonder what @ZackJones thinks...
  8. I will also echo the Everglades. Very consistent weights, sizing and plating. I'm running the 124s at sub-minor for Steel Challenge and they are plenty accurate for my needs. After the 124s are gone I might switch to the 115s to reduce the PF some. Plus Everglades has multiple sales throughout the year. sign up for their newsletter.
  9. I would then ask them to quote the rule that they would DQ you under. Or what rule prohibits you from entering the box before "Make Ready" (hint: no such rules exist) Just like one club near me that tells it's new shooters that they will be DQ'd for sweeping if they reach in front of the muzzle when zipping or unzipping the bag, even if their hands are free from the firearm. That is NOT sweeping. 10.3.6 makes that perfectly clear.
  10. this is a point of contention for us SC-only shooters. We are lobbying for an SC-only RO class. It could be done in 1 day vs the USPSA 2-day course. But as of right now that is not the case. So I have to take the 2 day class to get RO certified and then take a 2nd test just to get SC certification.
  11. Roundabout was my downfall at A7... that pavilion really messes with my head. I refuse to shoot NJ State after my 1 and only experience in 2018. Although part of me does consider it each year. But then I remember it's New Jersey...
  12. The 1 minute starts at the "Make Ready" command. Ideally the next shooter should be stepping into the box and staging what they need as soon as the previous shooter vacates. So while the plates are being painted the shooter can stage mags, air gun, etc. Everything but open the gun case or unholster. Then when they are given the "Make Ready" all they should be doing is prepping the gun, taking a couple of actual sight pictures and moving on. I have had to remind many shooters that it is perfectly fine to be in the box and prepping non-firearm items while waiting for the range to clear of painters. While it's their prerogative, from an RO and moving the match along standpoint it is kind of annoying when the shooter still stands outside the box holding their cases and waiting for the command. Then they step in and finally start getting prepped after "Make Ready". Even more annoying when it's Showdown and the shooter puts the case down and THEN stages a couple mags on the other table. Yea, I know they get 1 minute, but all of that could have been accomplished while the plates were being painted.
  13. It's all a matter of what works best for you. I know some folks that went uber light on their rifles and found they were over-swinging the plates. They went a little heavier and that worked for them. My RFRs are at 3.5lbs and my PCCs are 5.75lbs. They work for me (well, when I can actually shoot well that is) I will say that maybe if someone named "Squirrel" was a little bit slower in PCCO at A7 then I wouldn't have finished 1.61s behind for 2nd place Master... (Just sayin')
  14. Since I'm a SC shooter, PF means nothing to me. I have experimented all over the map with different weights, powders, etc. I've more-or-less settled on 124/125gr. over 2.9gr. of Clays. This is really soft and works for me at 115pf. Now I say "more-or-less" because this winter I plan on experimenting with the same charge and 100gr. Berry's. If my estimations are correct that should get me something in the neighborhood of 100pf. I know my PCCO will work that since it will work a 90pf. Not sure about my PCCI (PC Carbine) yet.
  15. interesting that my Lee decap/resize die doesn't work. The pin gets stuck and pulled right out. I'm just a little more careful now.
  16. looks like I'm mistaken on the Jeff Jones all-13. I thought it was a couple years ago but looking at the results the most i see from him was 8 guns a couple of years ago. My bad...
  17. A couple of years ago Jeff Jones shot all 13 divisions at the WSSC
  18. not to mention getting enough staff to run 2 matches at the same time.
  19. Just an update, I found that my Canik TP9SFx and my Ruger PC Carbine can handle the CCI SRPs.
  20. While this is just speculation I think that would be because the recoil impulse is more of a push than a snap. Plus they can use less powder for the round. As a test I loaded a 124gr and a 147gr with the same charge. Personally I didn't notice a difference in recoil but the chrono showed 120pf for the 124s and 135pf for the 147s. So they might be loading heavy heads for one competition and lighter for another. This way you don't have to change your powder drop. In Steel Challenge we aren't worried about Chrono...
  21. A7 SCC is just a couple weeks away. Who's going? I'm shooting Friday & Saturday morning.
  22. one shooter on my squad this weekend was using one of these: https://www.doublealpha.biz/us/ced-pcc-rifle-sleeve It half-zips so that you are unable to unzip it past your hand. The problem is trying to get your rifle out and back in without sweeping yourself. I imagine the purpose of this particular sleeve is more for transporting to and from the range and using a safe table to cart your rifle. TacSol used to sell sleeves as well and I've seen a number of them on the range. Same with Ruger. I haven't seen anything homemade though.
  23. Personally I'm not a fan. I've had to DQ a few people because they swept themselves either removing or putting back in. But they are legal and when ROing someone with one of these I'm even more vigilant to make sure they don't DQ.
  24. since I shoot Steel Challenge I am not worried about PF. But I am always on the lookout for something reliable that is like shooting a .22. I just tested the Everglades 95gr with approx. 3.0gr of Clays (I say approximately because I didn't weigh each charge). Testing was done with a PSA AR-V with a Taccom XLW Barrel and the Taccom Air Buffer. The brass just dribbled out of the ejection port. It was soft and accurate as best as I could tell. Am I making the switch? Probably not. My downloaded 124gr load works just fine and I'm sitting on a mess already made. Bullet Wt. Powder Charge Primer OAL Vel: High Vel: Low Vel: Ave. Spread Std.
