If you have taken the time to laser-level your stages in their bays then it would be a good idea to make sure that the sticks for that stage are all wrapped up together. This way you aren't hunting for the right height sticks on setup day.

There is no valid reason to have a WSB for Steel Challenge. OK, MAYBE for Showdown and Outer Limits with the boxes. But if you are at a L2 or higher match the competitors should already know this. It's 5 plates, shoot them in any order you choose, shoot the one with the red stick last, repeat 4 more times (3 if OL). It's Steel Challenge, not rocket science. There are no poppers, no "best x hits on paper", no ports, no leaning around walls, no activators, no mandatory reloads, no need to walk through the stage, etc. When I saw that in the rule book I just shook my head and more-or-less ignored it. It should be removed in subsequent publications.

New shooter or not, he should have been more familiar with his own equipment. That's not to say an experienced shooter also couldn't have a slip like that as well. Anything can happen at anytime. In my eyes there shouldn't be a next time as this should have been a HUGE lesson about safety. Hopefully he will practice on how to safely lower the hammer whether its the pinch method or the thumb-roll. Don't get me wrong, I love when new shooters come out. But they are responsible for how their equipment functions and how to safely shoot.

As long as there are no other violations, this shouldn't be an issue. Yes, prior to Make Ready the shooter should have staged mags as long as they didn't have to go into the same compartment as the firearm. Personally I would have mentioned to the shooter (after the CoF) that it would be better to stage prior to loading the chamber. Reduces the risk of bad things happening. I actually did this myself this past weekend. After Make Ready I was loaded and at low-ready but there was a timer issue. So I put my RFPO down on my case, pointing downrange, to free my hands to fix the issue. After correcting the issue I picked up the pistol and got in position again. Now, had I AD'd when picking back up, then that's on me.

I'm running the Everglades 115 v2 for the most part. Still sitting on a couple thousand 100gr. Berry's as well. There really is not much of a difference. It all depends on the recoil setup. I also tried the Everglades .380 heads, but I'm not a fan of having an OAL that tiny.

money... I got the Berry's when i had some gift certificates. They are great but I can get the same performance at a reduced cost elsewhere.

i was loading these under 3.0gr of Clays and running at about 1.11 OAL. I was looking at right around 100pf. Really soft and worked great in both my PCCs. I'm now running Everglades 115s over 2.9-ish and they are right in the same area.

as someone that shoots both the Ruger and the ARV, I can say I like them both. The Ruger can be lightened up and there are aftermarket triggers available. CMC just released a drop in system at 3.5lbs. The Ruger has eaten everything I have thrown at it. I also have an ARV and love the reliability. I'm running mine lightweight and it feels great. Plus can you beat 35-round mags for $15?

here's another stupid question... only because I'm looking at getting one of these. How tall does the setup end up being (from the bottom of the press to the tp of the case bowl)? My current bench might be too high and I'm worried the case bowl will not fit under the rafters in the basement.

What are you using for hold down die in the priming station?

All of these were ECSC? Obviously happened years ago and not recently. Rest assured, the new RM does a better job. The old management is out and new management is working hard to restore a good reputation. An unfortunate by-product is that getting RO help is difficult, so you sometimes have to take what you can get. This results in non-certified ROs running the stages. There is no rule stating that ROs need to hold an NROI certification.

depending on budget.... I started with the Ruger PC Carbine, upgraded it with Tandemkross chassis and parts. This is now my dedicated PCCI for Steel Challenge. If this is for USPSA then I highly recommend upgrading the mag release. This rifle has been 100% for me and eaten everything I've thrown at it. For PCCO I run a PSA AR-V that I built light-weight. It uses the CZ Scorpion double-stacked mags and Has been very reliable for me.

8.1.6 - When casing or uncasing any firearm at the firing position, the muzzle of the firearm must always be pointed downrange. 8.3.8.4 - Pistol Caliber Carbine – show clear, close the bolt, pull the trigger, insert flag, case. The bolt must be closed on a chamber flag. 10.3.2 - Pointing a firearm up range (breaking the 180-degree line). 10.3.6 - Sweeping or pointing the muzzle of a firearm at any part of any person’s body during the course of fire. If the firearm is in a case and not in the competitor’s hands, sweeping does not apply. D8 13 - Rifle to be transported in a closed case, scabbard, or “3-gun” cart. Chamber flags must be used regardless of method of transport. I have competed with a few folks that have "folding carbines". While I can't tell you what to do, I HIGHLY advise to unfold it at a safe table and transfer to another case. Better yet, unfold it at home and transfer to another case before leaving. My opinion is there is no reason to keep folding and unfolding during the course of fire.

+1 on the "what failed" question. I have been running the CMC 3.5 flat AR trigger in my AR-V and have had no issues. This is the standard, not the PCC version. I know CMC's customer service is excellent and will replace broken triggers, NQA

I will always recommend the Tandemkross DoubleKross mags and internals. When they changed the design a bit then I stopped having breakage near the feed lips. I like the polymer TK feed lips more than the stock steel from Ruger. I've seen that metal become rough and pitted. The polymer is nice and slick and have not had any issues. Every couple of years I do like to replace the feed lips just to freshen them up, but that me.

I tested a 135 in a Canik TP9SFx a few years ago... ETA: "Clays - C" is the Canadian version of regular Clays.
