  1. Just wondering what happenend to the sixth stage? the all rifle with 3 clays and 10 paper. That was my glory stage and now its gone.
  2. Jon, a really fun match. i really enjoyed it, especially only needing four rounds on your Newbolds. Thanks for all you do and happy birthday. Jim Shema
  3. Retired in 2006 and still vaguely remember the " W " word. My condolences, It's great on this side( other than the creaky joints).
  4. Tony and all who set up and ran this match, a hearty thank you!!!. Had a great time and appreciate all your hard work. Sorry the HP shooters screwed over your schedule and especially sorry you didn't get to shoot a match you worked so hard to set up. Jim Shema
  5. You are going to absolutly LOVE the multifocals. It's been a little over two years for me and a year & a half for my wife since we had the procedures. I'm still in awe at what I can see. Have not shot my open gun since, so much fun seeing the sights.
  6. +1 exactly. Any positive depiction of the shooting sports on TV will "help our cause". (1) People are angry because "it not an exact TV show of _my_ sport"... c'mon it's just entertainment, don't take it too seriously. Without shows like TopShot, the only time the average person sees a gun in TV is going to be in a negative context. 1: Outdoor Network shows doesn't count, only people who watch that are _already_ shooters. I agree totally. Yeah , it's got it's flaws and for real competition shooters a lot of it is pretty lame but IT SHOWS SHOOTING IN A POSITIVE LIGHT. We can't get enough of that.
  7. The only problem I ever had with Winchester primers were light strikes in some 'tuned' revolvers where Federal seems to be the go to choice.
  8. Was anyone else embarrased by the "challenges" on this weeks show? I mean, a playing card at 30 FEET ? With a Rifle? I guess the experts forgot you have to hold high that close. When I first saw the cards, I thought they were going to be edge on.That would have been a pretty good test with a .223. Pretty easy with a 45 ,though.
  9. That was my claim to fame. Beat him at MC and Napannee, well sorta. The guy had tremendous grip control. We were sitting around a campfire one evening and another group of shooters had raised a flagpole of a lodgepole pine about 4' in diameter at the base 75 to 100 yds away. Ken had an early laser training device on one of his guns and ran that laser up then down that flagpole stronghand and never lost the beam off that pole.
  10. I shot it 1988 to the last in 1998. So many things to remember. I especially liked BCBC and LRPF. i shot it
  11. I love USPSA but Second Chance was the most unique shooting event ever. It ran eight days, and one main event entry got you three meals a day and free camping on the range. there were three main events, stock gun, pin gun and ,later, open gun which consisted of six tables of five pins, throw out the worst for your score. Their were a ton of side events for all rifle, pistol and shotgun that were kick ass fun. I miss it a lot .
  12. I remember Ken from Second Chance and the Masters before it went south. Saw him clean the 9 pin in 3.6 seconds once. Anyone hear of him?
  13. It certainly has it's flaws but does show shooting in a positive light, i'd hate to see it go.
  14. There are no rules on reloading your SG other than the use of speed loaders and mag fed SG is restricted to open division. Look in the multi gun section. Lots of good info there.
  15. Really liked the 1500 yd challenge. No advantage/disadvantage to anyone other than skill. It did look like choke time for William on the shootoff.
  16. From the other side of the counter. Had a guy come in and ask why he couldn't zero the scope on his muzzle loader. I told him the hose clamps he used might not be his best option. Had two county swat team members come in with their just issued 1911's carried in their tacticool thigh holsters cocked and UNLOCKED. I asked why they were carrying that way. They said their INSTRUCTOR told them it was unneccesary since the pistol also had a grip safety and it was a lot faster that way. I asked what happened to the grip safety when they drew. Blank stares. Had a guy come in for some shotgun shells. I asked what guage and load he wanted. The green ones he said. I have LOTS more.
  17. I have run fmj 147's in a Kimber 38 super, S&W M627 and S&W M&P pro and have had great results. The 627 really didn't like anything but 147's. My wife has arthritis in her hands and the 147 minor load is the softest shooting I have found.
  18. Just got my Otto 24 round rig and it looks like weak hand for me. I tried over the shoulder strong hand and, even though it's not supposed to be possible, I managed to slice my thumb on my C-Rums modified lifter. Just talented that way I guess.
  19. I'm with you. Pin shooters or bullseye shooters would have nailed that. I mean they had 2 MINUTES for 20 shots. 6 seconds a shot if you don't miss and you shouldn't miss at 35'. And the gum ball challenge, if you do the math on what size a .22 bullet would be worth at 100 yds vs 35 ' , thats a 6 minute target. I guess he didn't read David tubb on shooting offhand in the wind.
  20. Could M4 stand for Mossberg 4?
  21. After five days cold turkey, you got it whipped! I quit in 1986 at 42 and still occasionally get an urge. Then I remember how it felt being winded halfway up a flight of stairs and hacking up a lung when I lit up the first one of the day. Stay with, it only gets better.
  22. Was sorting some range brass the other day and found you CAN shoot 9 mm in your .40. Brass looked kind of funny, though.
  23. It is , of course, Bush's fault.
  24. It was Kindergarten shotgun basics 101. Pretty nice product placement for Benelli, though. I did have to laugh when they talked about the "soft shooting" Vinci and the video showed them rocked back on there heels shooting trap loads.
  25. I contacted Burris a few weeks ago about a speed mount for the VM as I wanted to use one for turkey season. They aren't planning on making one they replied. Maybe that will change if there is more demand. Remington advised the Weaver # 418 base will fit. That is a 2 piece base, so depending on the optic, you will need one or two.
