  1. I heard the movie was good so of course I grabbed a Child book "Persuader" and couldn't get past page 10. The guy is a complete idiot when it comes to guns. He has a .44 mag "shattering a (car)radiator and "blowing up a front tire in a spectacular explosion of black rubber debris "yards of blown tread whipped through the air" He's going to shoot a guy and" then I used my left hand to cradle my right forearm against the Colt's four pound weight" He shoots the guy and" the guys chest seemed to explode in a huge cloud of blood" If you're going to write about something write about something you know or consult a pro. I think i will reread one of my Steven Hunter, Vince Flynn or John Sandford novels to get the bad taste out of my mind.
  2. If you are loading on a Dillon, you do not want the die touching the shellplate. Did that the first time I loaded .223 on my 550 and set the shoulder back too far. The AR extractor will NOT hold the round against the bolt face to fire. You must use a guage. Pulling 300 rounds and trashing the cases taught me that lesson.
  3. Are you saying that Apex makes the S&W factory installed barrel? I checked my march 2011 barrel against my new 1 in 10 twist replacement barrel and they are identical in all respects in the lockup/chamber area. The barrel that was replaced did have less"beef" in that area.
  4. The 147's were lead and the 124's were fmj. Just a few hundred lead 147's left and then all 147 jhp Zero's . Got 6 K of them
  5. Received my 2010 produced M&P 9 pro back from S&W with a new barrel and it is the new 1 in 10 twist. Shot it at 25 yds with 147 and 124 and it groups 2.5" with both off hand.
  6. +1.I have had my Nordic tube off and on many times on my 26" and have had NO zero problems with slugs.
  7. I had C-Rums do my lifter last year and have had zero problems without modifying the chamber.
  8. Got it back monday with a new barrel installed and ran 150 rounds from 2 diff lots of reloads. It ran perfectly. actually, My wifes gun is one year newer and the new barrel is identical to hers. A lot more beef around the chamber.
  9. Spent case collected 4-20-2010.
  10. Well it definatly is a barrel issue. I ran 150 rounds from my 125 gr load in the first gun, swapped that barrel into the new gun and repeated 150 rounds trouble free. Back to S&W.
  11. Sarge, did your problems include super tight stuck cases?
  12. I recently picked up a safe queen from a friend, He shot maybe a mag through it so it's practically new. I initially shot 15-20 rounds to check zero and shot the first multi-gun match of the season with it sunday. I had two stuck cases in approx 90 rounds. They were stuck so bad it was squib rod pounded against a wall to free them. Yes, I know I should have shot it more but I bought my wife one about 4 or 5 years ago and that one runs anything you can get in the mag. I shot that one enough to be proficient , so I thought, no problem. The load is 3.9 w231 -125 precision-mixed cases. Today I tried another load, 147 zero jhp over 4.6 gr of tru blue. 73 rounds and same stuck case results. Both of these loads have run in the first pro. The other fired cases of the tru blue load drop free of the chamber as if they had been sized. Anyone else had a similar problem?
  13. I got the 26" about a year ago and like it a lot. I have had zero issues with mine. I had C-Rums weld the lifter and added a Nordic mag extension with their clamp and the OS bolt handle. Some have mentioned a impact shift with slugs after removing and replacing the mag extension. That has not happened to me.
  14. You might try e-mail. They have been super busy with all the craziness. Took me 15 minutes hitting redial before I got on hold. That only took 30 minutes more.

    No Choke?

If the object of shooting threads is a more open pattern, why not shoot spreader loads for the close targets? I get about a 8" pattern at 30' with a standard wad and a 14" pattern with the Poly wad insert at 30 '. This is through my Versa max IC choke. They are very easy to reload and Poly wad does offer factory loads also.
  16. Wow, I should have been more explicit. There was NO CHARGE to me.That is the amount of parts Dillon replaced at NO CHARGE. All I paid was the shipping to them.
  17. So, after loading about six months worth of ammo, I sent my loosy goosy 1994 xl 650 back to Dillon for refit. Now, I know they have been crazy busy with all the silliness going on so I was prepared for a long wait since they are so backed up on orders. WRONG!!! They received it on Feb 19, I got it back today. I had to look hard to see that it wasn't a new machine. Well, most of it was to the tune of parts worth $322.11. Now I know they could have assembled and shipped a couple of new machines in the time it took to refurbish mine and i wouldn't have blamed them, I mean they do have to make a profit , right? But, obviosly customer service is king at Dillon. And you would buy anything else, because?????
  18. I sent my 1994 650 in for a rebuild last week. You're right about busy. When I called to verify the shipping address, it took about 15 minutes hitting redial and about 30 minutes on hold to get a rep. I have no clue as to current turnaround time on a rebuild but, luckily i have enough loaded to get me through a few months.
  19. Actually, it's more likely the crazy rates AE charges merchants. I didn't accept them when i was in business since they charged 5% on sales and Visa,MC and Discover were at 1.65 % for me.
  20. I have shot mine out to 500 yards and can ring a 12"x18" plate if I do my part.
  21. Hey guys, Give them a break. The demand is crazy and they sure can't grab help out of the sky. Someone's got a 650 LESS casefeeder on Gunbroker with a bid of $1200 on it, and you wonder why they can't answer the phone instantly?
  22. That's what I went back to and, frankly don't see much difference.
  23. Yes I have. i started to have numerous failures to eject and last round lock backs two years ago. This was with the gas screw backed way out. The carrier showed some external wear but didn't look excessive. I called JP and they asked for the round count. I said about 2 K and was told thats about what they were good for. Thats obviously why they are not made any more.
