  1. Yeah, I saw the writing on the wall for Limited and bailed after 2019 I think it was. It sucks, I like the division and I was pretty decent with a limited gun. End of June I guess isn't the worst but it's not ideal. I probably wont shoot my first major until may and really don't get shooting a regular until April. It doesn't give me a ton of time to prepare. Late in the year give even northerners time to fully prepare and bring their A game. It's also just seems weird. I think of Nat's as being like the conclusion to the season, and concluding the season of the biggest most popular division in June seems odd. At that point the logical choice is jump to LO for the rest of the year. I think maybe that's by design. Also based on what happened this year "handgun" nationals next year is really going to be LO nationals with a bunch of little iron sight side matches lol.
  2. Most of the really good shooters I know will just go where the heat is. I say most, some will do the opposite. For now CO is still the place to be. But as more guns get finished, and another year of CO Nats being stupid early we're setting up CO to fail. I too would find a more restrictive version of CO to be interesting and would pick that over LO. I'd like to see less of the nonsense. Less brass, tungsten, thumb rests, maybe dropping to 15 rounds. But I realize I'm weird liking more restrictions, most people want to add gadgets and such. @motosapiens I'm in a similar boat of not really knowing what I'll shoot next year. I like to pick a primary division for the season and every year I know long before now. I have decided I'm sticking with my plastic canik and I'll probably just decide on LO or CO based on who's shooting what.
  3. The real question...have they fixed these things yet? I kind of want one but damn it's gotta work.
  4. I'm far from offended. I pretty much count on a post from you to chime in with who you think is weak. It's your card and you play it, gotta repect that right? I'm not at all surprised LO is doing well. These guns are immensely popular outside of our world. 40's just aren't, it might suck but given the market it'd of been silly to build a division around something no one is using. But I'm still not sure if there is room for two so similar divisions in our game. I think CO will probably die out pretty quickly, so if you like it enjoy it while you can.
  5. Controlling the recoil of a minor gun is easier, the accuracy standard of major is also easier. Anyone questioning manhood based on division choices that don't align with there own is projecting.
  6. To me these sentences seem at odds with each other. How can recoil not really make much difference, but you get more points for worse accuracy and still call that harder? The fact that the recoil isn't making much difference is enough to want to get rid of major for the more challenging accuracy standard or minor.
  7. Assuming it's the same width as the other models you'll be really close to the max width. Likely slightly over and hope the box has some wiggle room. My Rival and my mete SF are like 1.390 to 1.400 wide the CCP and Bug limit is 1.375. I may run my mete SF in CCP some, I've considered getting a extra slide stop and cutting it down to give me some wiggle room. It easily fits inside the older style plastic boxes, while I've not tested the new metal boxes they seem like they might be tight. A buddy of mine failed inspection at IDPA Worlds this year with a gun that he's tested in every box prior to the match. Definitely something to be aware of.
  8. There are a lot of things that make uspsa less practical, minor optics guns aren't on my list. In fact I'd say a CO gun is more practical than a limited or open gun.
  9. You're right, statistically defensive shootings happen just outside of 2 arms reach. So like 3 yards. The odds of being involved in a mall shooting or similar where distances are more extreme are vary rare. You're probably more likely to get struck by lightning. That said, I know a dude that's been struck by lightening like 3 times. I'm fine carrying with irons, I also don't carry a spare mag.
  10. Seems silly. Just lube the crap out of it and shoot it.

People on social media seem to be having lots of trouble with these. But, people on their complain about everything too.
  12. People would for sure sandbag even with no possible prize or trophy on the line. Example. I remember when I was younger playing halo 2 online. They had a system that ranked you based on skill level so you'd only play against people at a similar level to you. It went from 1-50 so if you were a 35 you might play against 30-40's. I can't remember exactly. There was zero gain, other than the number next to your name may imply a skill level. Some players would "de-level" meaning they would intentionally loose game after game to lower their level. You'd have guys that were 50 loose over and over just to drop down as low as the could stand. Why? So they could beat the crap out of people at the bottom instead of playing challenging games against guys at their level. No prizes, no trophies, just ego. 100% this would happen here if we were allowed. People generally suck and will for sure sandbag.
  13. I'd shoot a match like that. It'd be fun. I probably wouldn't travel more than a couple hundred miles for it Locally we have a IDPA major that does that every year. It's always Revo, their version of SS, and CCP which is the more compact division. All fun divisions that no one really shoots. It forces you to pick one and is a good time. All those divisions are basically dead at every other match.
  14. I've been back and forth on the subject. Right now I don't have one, Overall I like optics, I shoot them better, they're the future. I even shot my carry gun with a 507k in a IDPA major and didn't have the dot on during a stage. So I just used the optic like a peep sight and won the stage. So even if it dies on you, it's not game over. I think the tiny window may of helped me, just a theory. One thing I consider is I know most likely I wont need to use the gun to defend myself. If I do I many not even need to fire a shot. When you do shoot the vast majority are of cases are 7 yards or less, with the majority of those being just outside 2 arms reach. That's about 3 yards. Given all that it's really unlikely the dot is going to help me any. But, in a world of mall shootings, and church shooters and things like that going down, situations exist where a optic might be the move. Just realize you're more likely to get struck by lightning.... but hell I know a guy that's been struck by lightening 2 or 3 times. So who knows lol.
  15. I think they feel vary different and would also recommend trying them. And if you can shoot some 125's and some 147's out of both. I tend to like the gun to be faster and snappier. With striker fired guns I don't notice it, but with a 5" 2011 and 147's the recoil impulse feels weird to me. My 5" guns are sprung light and have shock buffers to shorten the stroke and help speed up the gun. Not that I really out run it I'm sure, I just don't like the chunky feeling of the longer guns.
  16. Your right, there are lots of reasons the division is dead. I didn't really say they don't like it, I like SS too. But when the only way to motivate people to shoot it is to take away all other options, it's not really a sign of a healthy division. USPSA is fun with any gun so people will turn out, the only other option in this example is don't shoot. If it was reasonably close I'd dust off my SS rig and shoot it.
  17. For that matter, why wait for you to shoot any? We could just automatically classify you in all divisions as soon as you classify in one. I'd assume the intent is that after you shoot your 4 you might still end up equal to your other classification. It's not crazy to think someone who's a legit A in CO could put up A out the gate in LO. If you just make them B, maybe they never bother to shoot classifiers to they can sandbag at majors. One could just always shoot CO/A and then go to majors and shoot LO/B. I'm sure this is already happening to some extent.
  18. This shows how dead the division is. Clearly lots of people have all the gear they just don't want to use it. The only way to get them to turn out and shoot is if you don't allow the divisions they want to shoot.
  19. I think I'm running a 29 n rune striker spring. I sourced a longer lighter TRS, and lightly polished the top edge of the trigger bar where it contacts the firing pin block, and polished the same spot on that FP block. I mainly did that polishing because there was a little bur their that was bugging me in dryfire lol. Then add the freedom smith. I tried a couple FP block springs and they all made my trigger heavier so I just left the stock on in it. Maybe I'll order a ghost to try next time I'm ordering springs. I've been neglecting cleaning this thing and I don't think I'd want to go to crazy with the trigger if it means I need to do more maintenance.
  20. Do you run a really light striker spring to get that low? I think my Rival is right a 2 lbs with a 6.5 lbs striker spring. I'm not really looking to get lower I'm just curious what it took to pull that off.
  21. It's ugly, but all that really matters is how many rounds will it last? I did see someone that cut those two protective rings off to reduce the size and weight a little for a gamer gun. But that'll nuke any warranty so I'd not do that unless they prove to be vary durable. For now I'll stick with my holosun.
  22. I imagine what you could do is pull the slide and color the bottom of the FP stop plunger with a sharpie. Then reassemble and pull the trigger a bunch of times. You shouldn't even need to rack the slide. The trigger bar should rub the sharpie off where it contact the safety. I would think you could remove as much material as you want to allow for clearance as long as you keep the area of contact intact.
  23. I don't know, the ultimate gamer is a 38oz 2011. Or a steel framed P01.
  24. A drastic decrease locally. My local club is really the only IDPA club in the area. The next closest is 110 miles from me. The local club used to hold 6 matches a month and a State Championship. They got tired of IDPA rule changes and confusion. Now they run 5 matches under their own rules and 1 IDPA match. The state match didn't happen last year. Rumor is this year they're doing one but it's really intended to promote their own game which they'll be hosting a major for the day after.
