  1. We don't need to vote on every detail of the org. But if the AD's are going to make the calls they need to be talking to members and survey's are a easy way to reach a lot of members at once. Maybe form committees for things and let people know how to contact those on the committee. Any form of transparency in the process would be a step in the right direction. Propose changes and allow comment periods like they did with Prod15 vs just dropping it on us like they did with flashlights, magnets, holster locations, "small parts" in production, weight limits, revo capacity, PCC, CO, and what ever else they've changed in the last few years.
  2. He's not wrong though. Many shooters at the local level aren't paying attention and aren't super serious. They'll likely show up and shoot the match either way. But the MD is likely going need to explain to them why they aren't getting a classifier at the match because they want to get out of C class. They don't know or really care what's going on. Some people grossly under estimate the value the classification system brings. It's flawed sure, but that doesn't really matter. It's a carrot on stick and keeps peoples attention. That said, things have made a major shift way more people are talking about this now and I think all the BOD seats are likely getting flipped here soon.
  3. Playing with your math some. 100 pts in 15 seconds is 6.66 HF as you stated. No one shoots major in revo so we should look at minor numbers. So A/c on all 20 shots is 80 points. 80/6.66 = 12.01 (time to shoot same HF with 80 points) 15 - 12.01 = 2.98 seconds (total time you need to save) 2.98/10 = .298 seconds per Charlie. Did I math this wrong?
  4. Revolvers are slow, so their hit factors are lower. You used the example of a 10 HF major scoring stage to get 1/10 of second per Charlie. How often do revolver shooters shoot a 10 HF?? Almost never is probably the answer. If the revo winner has a HHF of 4 one Charlie is worth .5 seconds not .1 seconds. At revolver nationals there were several stages with HHF's under 4. Lower hit factors shift the balance making accuracy more important. . As points matter more the gun that's easier to aim fast will become more of a advantage. Typically lower HF stages also have more difficult shots which will shift the balance even more so toward the guy with the optic. Nationals will probably have harder and longer shots with lots of partials and lower HHF's given the current trends. It would be silly for someone like @Fishbreath to go to nationals with out a optic if they're allowed. So to allow them is to require them.
  5. IMO not supporting major doesn't remove power from the game. Certainly not just because LO doesn't support major. If we did like PCSL is doing and removed any requirement for power factor I would agree with you. And I think Open should always have a place in the game. But, allowing major in LO basically breaks the division. Look at all the 9mm SAO guns that dropped at shot show. No one is rushing out to buy 40's. If we stick to our guns and keep pushing 40 major we're going to drive ourselves into the ground. I do think the best way to save CO might be to make LO major.
  6. Are we voting what we think USPSA will do? Or what we want USPSA to do? The legacy BOD will likely make it a full division as it is currently. If new blood comes in to fill all the empty seats who knows what they're going to be thinking. Really we have bigger things to worry about anyway. I think option 2 isn't happening either way, the division is already to popular. Right now I lean towards keep LO as is and roll back CO a bit to create some separation.
  7. So were saying if the current number 1 revolver guy went to a dot, he'd actually be easier to beat then if he stayed on irons? Seems like a stretch to me. So if irons are better, why did LO beat out Limited at nationals? Not only did they have inferior sighting system they also were score minor. Or is it possible the optic is enough to overcome major scoring and still win by 5%.
  8. Optional dot is a required dot. I'm sure @Fishbreath still wants to win.
  9. Probably smart if you don't run for AD then
  10. In the current climate with a lawsuit already filed against the org and the seemingly constant removing and reinstating people to office I think following the rules probably trumps getting done early.
  11. I assume it'll be good in CCP. I don't know that it'll be the best, there are plenty of good guns that fit the CCP box. It'll probably be fine is SSP, ESP and CO but there will be better options in these divisions IMO
  12. I think that goes for all the TTI guns really. You could probably spend like 100 bucks and port your rival barrel and be better off anyway. Problem is unlike the plastic ones you're not going to get a second barrel for it so you'd need to be committed to IDPA.
  13. Now that IDPA allows ports and comps I've played with a few minor guns setup for it. They do make the gun flatter and easier to shoot. But, it's a smaller more subtle difference, nothing like shooting a open gun. I'd imagine the lower the skill of the shooter the more pronounced it might be. The vast majority of IDPA shooters aren't GM after all. If you're a decent shooter, I'm still not sure you'd see a measurable difference in your finish. But friends have been getting MPA's with two barrels, one for LO and one ported for IDPA CO. They're pretty good and say it seems to help a little, primarily on longer shots. If you're spending the money anyway and it makes the gun even the tiniest bit easier to shoot why wouldn't you? This thing looks like a poly frame, and priced the same as a steel frame. Consider the steel frames reliability is so hit or miss, if I wanted a canik for IDPA I'd either go plastic rival or this.
  14. Most people don't considering how few guns have GS's or manual safety for that matter. Most just rely on the trigger dingus on 2lb triggers.
  15. I think the agenda says Russ A8D brought it up. He's a open shooter, but he's also a RM and works a ton of matches. He's local and pretty good on the rules. I'd suspect he has a reason for it. What should happen, is the same thing that happened with production going to 15. The BOD should discuss it and it needs to go to the members for input for a certain amount of time before it would get voted on by the BOD. We should see information and maybe polls over the coming months with a vote at the end of the year to go into effect in 2025. A lot of speculation there, because the BOD doesn't have a great track record for following their own rules. There is also a solid chance that it's something dumb that a AD was asked to bring up at a meeting. And they'll bring it up and discuss knowing full well they don't intent for it to go anywhere.
  16. The only one of those that sound like it might of changed the outcome is the guy trying to catch a dropped gun. Even then depends how he grabbed it. And most people say you shouldn't do that in the first place. And every gun with out a grip safety or thumb safety (most striker guns) will be more dangerous to try to catch.
  17. I'm seeing a lot of comps on new stuff coming how. Maybe LO needs to allow comps and ports too.
  18. I don't think the issue HQ has is with the rule, or what the AC's are saying. Their issue is with the discussion itself. IDPA says you're not supposed to go to the internet for rules questions. The proper thing to do is ask a SO, then MD, and move to AC after that. They say you can email HQ but they'll reply with contact your AC. I know because I've gotten that reply in the past to questions. Part of the issue with this thinking is where I live I can easily shoot matches under 3 different AC's so I need to contact all of them which seems silly. I think the issue with the discussion is that I pointed out if you read the rule it shouldn't be allowed. And it seems some are sticking to that even though AC's say it's okay. It all kind of makes IDPA look bad. I'm sure that's the reason they wanted me to delete that thread. The one you linked to is the one they wanted removed. I'm sure if IDPA see's this they'll be even less happy with me.
  19. I like some of the changes, but back then things seemed way more stable. Now when I shoot a match the SO could be operating under a completely different understanding of the rules.
  20. I did not, and not surprised at all. I know the thread pissed them off but it really helps to see what people across the country are seeing at matches. HQ doesn't like that because they know things aren't don't consistently.
  21. I started a thread in a FB group recently because I feel the rule is not worded vary well. Consensus seems to be all the AC's say it's legal. My AC told me the same and then said HQ was pissed about my post and wanted me to remove it. It does not seem like everyone is 100% on the same page. I have now pinned all my GS's.
  22. I've noticed this myself with my 2011's. It makes sense, commander size guns have a shorter stroke, I think .100" not a lot, plus the slide is lighter so it's moving faster. Mine was a 4", I sprung it with 19 hammer and like a 10-11 recoil and at the time shot lighter bullets. Previous to this most of my 2011 shooting was 40 major in 5" guns. Going to a 5" 9mm gun with 147 gr bullets it felt sluggish to the point I didn't like it. Now for sure the gun is cycling and still waiting on me no matter how fast I pull the trigger. You could maybe make the case that if the gun is waiting on my longer I might perceive that as the gun being flatter even if it's not really. I doubt our brain really knows what's going on in that .05-.06 seconds the gun cycles. I'm sure if you just shoot the thing a bunch it'll become your new normal and you wont notice it anymore. I chose to try to speed the gun up to change how it felt. So I added a aluminum shock buff to shorten the stroke a little and dropped down to a 17 hammer and 8 recoil spring. Much less noticeable now. But neither is making me shoot the gun faster or better. It's completely subjective of what feeling I like.
  23. I base it off the condition of the mag when I pick it up. It's not crazy on dry days to not clean any mags all day or even over several matches. But drop one in the mud it probably needs cleaning. One range I shoot at is pretty sandy and that's hell on mags. Typically I pick the mag up off the ground and manually remove a couple rounds and pay attention to if it feels or sounds gritty, does the round pop up with some force? Is there visible mud or sand in or on the mag? If it's a little questionable I'll empty the match paying attention to how it feels and even work the follower up and down or tap it on a table or similar to try to knock out anything loose. if at that point I think it needs cleaning I clean it. At least with 2011's it's really easy to pop them apart. Not sure if that was much help but it's what I do. You'll get a feel for what works.
  24. Will it fit in a full size DWX holster? That's probably a easy way to go
  25. Just because you buy two things and they don't have any creep doesn't mean the sear is contacting the hammer correctly. That's why I asked. Good luck getting it running.
