Live Free Armory (LFA) - Apollo 11 - LO Build
Racinready300ex replied to Maximis228's topic in 1911-style Pistols
Which is why I said it's to keep cost down. Cutting for something that fits is going to be cheaper than developing a plate system to allow a RMR or other optics. They likely had the price point in mind the whole time and needed to hit it. I'm sure this helped. -
Occasionally you'll see a CO guy be a fantasy division in a division at majors. Not really crazy at all at the local level. 5 or 6 you saw seems totally reasonable. Certainly going to be stage and shooter dependent. The more we push partials and distance the more the gains of the comp and frame mounted dot will help. Obviously major becomes a bigger thing as shot difficulty ramps up, that's the biggest think in Opens corner.

Live Free Armory (LFA) - Apollo 11 - LO Build

The EPS carry is the same window as the 407k, the Plain EPS is the bigger window of the 407C if that helps. -

The holosun EPS isn't a bad optic and should fit that cut with a bigger window then the EPS carry or 507k's. Makes a good rainy match setup. I'm assuming they went with this cut just to keep the cost down vs a plate system. I bet a plate comes out to at least convert to RMR footprint. -

These sound pretty interesting to me too. Let us know how it performs. -
I believe at that point then can just decide to keep it provisional another year. IIRC YML said they would consider it a success if it was like 5% of activity which it exceeded right out of the gate. The only reason I could see it not becoming a division as is, at this point would be the shake up on the BOD. With A6 and A8 being new, A1, A4 resigning and needing to be replaced, A3 getting removed. Most of the BOD will be new since LO was last voted on. So who knows what they'll want to do.

Wasn't he also part of the design team on the gun? Or at least seems to take some credit for that. So, he's not the first source I'd go to to ask about flaws in the design. It's a bit of a conflict of interest.

My prodigy had the slide coating built up in the firing pin channel. It was enough that it was kind of hard to get the pin out. Pretty easy to clean up. That may be all your problem is. You can break pretty much any ejector in a 2011 if you try hard enough.

IIRC didn't he also say they were drop safe before the recall? Then said they couldn't fire OOB. Then did testing to show "if" they fired out of battery it was fine. Which makes me think there must be a chance they can fire out of battery. He probably tested 10's of rounds to come to the conclusion that it's all reloads blowing guns up. Clearly something is happening to them, and it happens with factory and reloads. I'll just stay away, plenty of other guns on the market these days.

Saving Money by Reducing RO Compensation?
Racinready300ex replied to konkapot's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
I'd be you they get more then 2k each to cover their travel expenses. The org spends 300k a year on travel after all. -

Exactly my thinking. There is to much information we don't really know, so we're just speculating. The org spent 300k on travel expenses on 2022. How much of that is for nationals? That number seems like a lot. Maybe a break down of that would be helpful too. -

That was my point, it's not really about $3. Some are just using $3 to make worrying about the org loosing money sound like you're being unreasonable. -
Saving Money by Reducing RO Compensation?
Racinready300ex replied to konkapot's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
Is it just $3? Didn't dues just go up? Maybe we should just allow members to donate to nationals instead of forcing them. Then those that want to guard their $3 can, and those that don't want to support Nationals with out going can do so. I don't think it's crazy to expect people to pay their own way. -

Racinready300ex replied to konkapot's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
Anyone have a break down of what the compensation is for nationals? We're really all just guessing at something that cost a good 75-100k per nationals. We could have a better discussion about a way forward if we know where we are now. -
Saving Money by Reducing RO Compensation?
Racinready300ex replied to konkapot's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
I don't think that really helps anything. And I don't know that we have a problem of not enough good shooters getting into nats. IDPA has turned away prior national champions so they couldn't defend their titles. That seems silly. -
Saving Money by Reducing RO Compensation?
Racinready300ex replied to konkapot's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
I didn't vote. Why does one have to work nationals to have a say in what his membership dues and activity fees go towards? In fact considering what 30k members?? and only 1k go to nationals. And it's loosing money like crazy, all of us who don't go should be worried. We're paying for everyone to go, whether it's staff compensation packages or shooters with artificially low entry fee's. At $400 CO nats will likely still loose money. In fact a AD told me that himself. Assuming the match has 500 shooters again, that's 200 grand and still loosing money. Something is probably going to have to give, and if the biggest expense is the staff it'll probably end up there. But with out a detailed accounting of what's going out where we're just speculating. Members should have access to that information. If I go to the treasurer of my local gun club and ask for details about the expenses of a match she'll have them. -
Saving Money by Reducing RO Compensation?
Racinready300ex replied to konkapot's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
Should there be a option for depends? With out knowing the specific match or how the RO's are compensated how can we really answer? We're just speculating. The matches I've worked I'd say no they don't need to reduce it. They also don't need to increase it any either.
