  1. Longshot might not get you there, but you should make major just fine with ~6-7gr of HS6.
  2. Titegroup and heavy bullets are nice and soft at minor power factor, but TG is way too fast to use for major in either one of those calibers. Gas volume is the name of the game with a compensator so you want to use the biggest powder charge of the slowest powder you can burn in the length of your barrel. I use powders like Autocomp, HS6, SP2, etc. with 115gr bullets which feed lots of gas to the comp. That being said, it's hard to describe 115s at 1,500fps as "soft" so you can give up some flatness for softness by using heavier bullets. I've made major with 124s and 135s, but with SLOW powder. Save the Titegroup and 147/160s for the Production gun.
  3. What powder are you using? I've shot 9major with 135s, it's a soft, slow flip.
  4. Haven't touched it yet but I might get some test loads chrono'ed at the end of the month.
  5. I've played with a MagnaPort quadported gun just like Jerry's and couldn't feel much difference until I got up around 150pf using autocomp and 115s. That was the sweet spot where I got a small reduction in muzzle flip with tolerable recoil; above that was pretty brutal in the hand. The Hybrid holes are bigger so they may work better, even more with the Tribrid, but you're still going to need to be up around 140-150 with a light bullet and slow powder to feel any reduction in muzzle flip. With no comp when PF is not a concern I still prefer 115s over fast powder ~100pf

  7. All I know is RWS makes some high end target .22 ammo.
  8. Yes, 10mm and 40 are identical except the length.
  9. Jim Bodkin of Shooter Ready does as well; great guy to deal with.
  10. Which is exactly why I always bring three guns!
  11. Ctay, I was curious about this issue as well so I asked for some first hand experience, no one posted any but I did get this article from 56hawk and did my own experiments trying to replicate the issue: I send my slide off for milling work, so I've haven't fired any more .40 through it, but I did do an interesting experiment with a .380 case which made it's way into my 9mm loads: it was a light steel load (3.15gr Clays under a 115) so I figured I'd shoot it and see what happens It chambered fine and I could see the rim was securely behind the extractor so I shot it; it sounded funny as the brass fire formed to the chamber, but when I extracted it I could see what this article warned of: there was a scratch in the rim where it pulled past the extractor with the primer ignition then it was slammed back into the breech face, flattening the primer against the head stamp. Granted, this is obviously less likely to happen with 40/10 because the rim is exactly the same, but I can now see how it could happen. I've shot 40 in a 10, 9x19 in a 9x21 and even 380 in a 9, never 9x19 in a 38, but that's because I don't have any 38s. Yet.
  12. This is close enough to get you started: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=191773&page=1
  13. Wow, how'd you sumble across this one up Gump?!? What the hell, I'll throw another log on the fire! (Just the large frame Tanfos )
  14. You'll learn to love the stock fixed rear sight once you start using it to rack the slide!
  15. I love it! I have two small boys (4 and 3) who get into everything, so I built my gun room inside a locking cabinet. I keep all my reloading stuff and gun projects in there; when I go to bed, I can trust everything will be right where I left it when I come back to it
