  1. I'm just happy my arsenal hasn't clipped six figures... yet.
  2. Here's a thread I started on the subject: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=193481&page=1
  3. The recoil impulse is not all about pf, but weight of the bullet and the burn rate of the powder as well. The WWB you're shooting is probably loaded with 180gr bullets and relatively slower burning powder than most of us hand loaders are using for .40; a faster powder, heavier bullet and a lower power factor would make your particular gun shoot significantly softer. Even with the same bullet at the same velocity, the recoil impulse varies quite a bit with the burn rate of the powder. You can buy ammo specifically loaded for USPSA 40 major from some of the sponsors on this site, but I would highly recommend you make friends with someone hand loading their own ammo and ask them to teach you; bribing them with components helps
  4. I always enjoy meeting friends from the forum as they pass through town Let me know if you ever have occasion to visit sunny San Diego!
  5. Yes, if you're not going to hand load don't waste money on a comp, it will do nothing (this is something I wouldn't believe until I experienced it for myself). I Limited Pro with an optic is as good as it gets for an Open gun with factory ammo (the lightest loads you can find).
  6. Small frame .40 guns hold six fewer rounds in a 141mm mag, so you might as well shoot Limited 10
  7. I wouldn't use the word necessary, but the steps you describe are those I took to make the shortest reset I could using the ideas that popped into my head at the time (and that I was interested in pursuing). There certainly may be more things to be done (modification of the firing pin block surfaces is one which comes to mind), but this is what I did and the result was pretty good. The more you do the better it will be unless you do too much You could always hand fit a type 1 disco without messing with the lifter or trigger bar; it would probably still yield a shorter reset than a type 2, maybe not as short as if you did, but without as much risk of destroying parts. Everything is a trade off.
  8. I'm looking for a pair of these plastic grips for large frame, does anyone have some kicking around? I want to try a stipple job on them.
  9. Are you sure about that? I can cram 20 in mine, reloadable at 19.
  10. The Match will make it easy to do everything you want to do, the Limited will required more custom work and parts. You can do all the same trigger work to either. You could even replicate the sight tracker style Hunter with the Match pretty easily.
  11. Or whoever bought this one: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=204173#entry2270068 They ended up with six of the tubes you're looking for.
  12. You could ask CHA-LEE, that's what he used.
  13. He had an FFL 07 file the appropriate paperwork with the BATF and relocated it
  14. By the way, advice is what you're asking for, advise is what I've done
  15. There's something to love about every platform, that's why not everyone shoots the same one (although I'm not sure what there is to love about xDs ) I have CZs, Tanfoglios and now a 2011, the 2011 has an awesome trigger, the action is smooth as glass, it's light, but I hate the ergonomics; the Tanfoglios are oh so pretty with the best ergonomics, but the aftermarket support is weak and the importer is terrible; the CZs have similar ergonomics, the trigger is better, and there are no large frame options. Different platforms also have different strengths in different divisions: CZs and Tanfos rule Production, but the factory options for Open are weak. Obviously you're not in love with the xD so sell it and try something new. Which division do you want to shoot?
  16. Well then polish it up! The front notch is where the firing pin slides past the roll pin and the rear notch is where the block goes up and down.
