  1. Some guys will use a puff of graphite in the tube also
  2. Better than trying a 380 I suppose but the same round over and over..what the heck was he thinking
  3. We switched to a Nordic Corvette for my son's 15-22 for steel challenge. It has all but ended reshoots for him because the timer wouldn't always pick up the stock one. We got ours from Tony at www.makereadyproshop.com for about 50.00
  4. Just my .02, but I'd wait to get the barrel length you want...replacing barrels isn't cheap and 18.5" is not ideal for 3 gun imo I don't see too many pistol grips in use either. With multiple ways to load, it may be more in the way if you dual or quad load in the future It would be worth your time to check with Mike at Accurate Iron to see if he has any ready to go...great gunsmith if you can snag one from him
  5. www.Hillbilly223.com does some cerakote for Nighthawk And several others that I've seen
  6. Minor to major scoring makes a decent difference in limited especially on classifier scores. Also did your practice (ore lack there of in my case) rutine change at all when you got your new pistol, even for a couple weeks when you first got it? No, I just practiced drawing the heavier pistol for a few days and have just shot matches without any time for practice. .same as before. Mag changes are faster and smoother as well
  7. I swtiched from a glock 17 with a heavy brass mag well with reloaded ammo to a custom sti in 40 and have gone from a mid to low C class to bumping the B class recently. I'd vote for the 2011 all day. Minir to Major is a bug factor but I shoot faster with more confidence than before I've never shot a shelf 2011 so I can't compare but I'd have to believe it makes a huge difference just as it would to shoot a factory glock and a glock with trigger work, recoil spring, heavy mag well, sights and reloaded ammo does
  8. 4.7-4.8 tg to 1.175 in 5" STI 169-170pf for me using extreme 180gr fp
  9. I ran 124 extremes in my g17 with a reduced recoil spring. I always loaded to make minor pf. For me they had better results on steel than factory 115's. I would think that 147's loaded to minor would be similar or even better Not sure what spring works for the m&p or load data for the heavier bullet
  10. Been there done that..lol I'm still trying to remember this one myself.
  11. Great looking rifle...where was this when I started! Everything you want ready to go at a great price!
  12. Lots if different opinions and personal experiences. I don't believe the article was written by a rocket scientist either. I didn't buy mine because of it..but it was another opinion I considered I asked around at the 3 gun matches I attend and that helped a lot in my choice as well. Ask to try someone else's of the brand/brands your considering and see if that helps
  13. I switched recently from howard leights to MSA Swordin supreme and wish I would've sooner. There's an article somewhere about the db rating. It looks low on paper but works great for what we do. I'm convinced I'd have more if my hearing if I'd switched sooner
  14. From the pics I saw on the posted link earlier..looks like low round count and a very decent deal.
  15. One other thing when you're starting out, don't battle a target. If you take a few shots and can't get it..move on. It'll save you time and help have less or no timeouts. You'll get better with more time and knowing your weak spots to work on after a match
  16. I like to video the better shooters and learn from their runs later at home. If I can get a video of myself on the same stages, I can learn even more by comparison Learning is one thing...retention is another
  17. I had reservations but bought my friend's used that had been modified simlar to yours. New batteries also make a difference but I'm glad to say..so far so good
  18. I've heard you can add extra clips to the ap's to hold a little tighter..anyone have success with that? I'm still weak handing it from man mountains because I'm afraid of grabbing air when I reach for ammo with the load two's or quads. From the matches I've been to..I'd say almost all guys lose some with load two's at some point during a match. I lose some if I fumble them in my hand, but not from movement or bumping into stuff...so I'm reluctant to change, but the load two's are definitely faster from what I've seen
  19. I carry a G-19, and currently use a modified G-17 for matches... I've heard people say to NOT modify your carry piece for potential liability issues in the event you ever had to use it. I would think that stippling the grip and of course better sights would be no problem, but I can understand it if you lighten the trigger...any input or facts?
  20. does anyone have any pics of the difference in dust cover..short vs?
  21. did that...my spring is new with this tube, so it should be good to go there... I'm guessing everyone runs the stock remington action spring in the stock? I've only found one alternate from Wolf that claims it's for lighter loads but no real opinions or reviews if it works or not. I'm hoping the snag was my problem combined with the ez loader stock length...hope to find out tomorrow. Really looking forward to this match, 12 stages in two days..and weather in the 80's!
