  1. I also got a $50 gift cert from Shooters Connection. I wish it had been $3500 I could use another Open gun from Dan.
  2. Thats funny. I heard the same story about the JATO bottle in a Darwin award like 10 years ago. Must mean that they a fake. Or somebody tried it for a sceond time.
  3. Every year we have a Night Shoot at our club. Its a blast to shoot we use different kinds of lighting for each stage ( we have elec in each bay). This past weekend I get on the first stage with my open gun and the muzzle flash was so bad that I would lose sight of the targets for a moment. Last year I was using N350 and I didn't have any problem at all this year using HS-6 and I got muzzle flash from HE**. I never thought to check it out before the match. I was told that I should have been given the most beautiful muzzle flash award. I wish I had taken the camera.
  4. Hi Tolly I shoot at Doubletap and I look forward to seeing you at a match. If you have any equipment issues like need to borrow some 10 round mags for your Kimber or anything else LMK and I will try to help you out. Shaun is a great guy and will get you started right on your 550. I live in Altus or I would offer also.
  5. I wear bifocals and have a hefety scrip also. I got a pair of rec specs fitted with my far scrip and they work great for shooting. They were 129.00 with the perscription lenses. These are lenses not inserts and they look cool. Here is the link, I have the bikers http://www.libertyoptical.com/products_main.asp
  6. I have been asked to RO Area 4 but my current work schedule is going to make it impossible. I really hope it's a great match and everyone has a good time.
  7. Just looked at PV and primers went from 14 and change to like 17 bucks a thousand and they don't do a 25,000 price break anymore. I still have 18 or so thousand but that sucks.
  8. I have 5 CMCs and they have always worked great.
  9. I sold an old 45 comp gun to a guy last year he came over to the house and we were going through the safe and he saw it. It was hard chromed and had a full profile comp. He asked if I wanted to sell it and I told him he didn't want it to shoot IPSC with because it just wasn't competive. For the next two weeks he begged me to sell him that gun and even after me telling him he didn't want it , I gave up and sold it to him for what the parts would have cost back years ago. He is not an IPSC shooter and he loves the gun. He moved and took it to some gunsmith he knows from his hometown he called me and told me that the guy looked up all the parts at current prices and he tried to give me more money because he felt he had screwed me. Long story short if you ask for advice on this board you need to listen. The people here are telling you the TRUTH.
  10. I just wish they would come out with a hollow point for the 9mm/38super
  11. I have shot this game for quite a few years and I don't care about the prize table. Before I got into IPSC I shot skeet. They pay cash to the winners. Lets say your entry fee is 50 bucks and they take 25 of it for the prize, it is given back to the class that the shooter is in (except for 5 going to HOA). So you have 20 C class shooters then they have 400 bucks in the prize fund and it is split 60%/30%/10% to the top three in that class sometimes the match will have added money to each class a additional 500 bucks or whatever. Now the problem with this system is that almost everybody that shoots quite a bit will move up to AAA class at some time so the top class is always the biggest. In this sport it just wont happen because not everybody can be a GM. Hell some people will never make it out of C. With this system its kind of cool because it pays the larger classes more then the small classes and the HOA gets a pretty cool amount of cash ( 500 shooters @ 5 bucks =2500). There are alot of problems with this system because skeet shooters shoot the same equipment so there are not 6 divisions. It also takes a burden off of the match directors the just have to write checks.
  12. Been C open forever and just made B open this last month. Going to try an make A by next summer.
  13. I have been C open for quite some time and all the guys (friends) were always calling me a sandbagger. When I would shoot a classifier I would normally shoot a solid C score. A couple of months ago I started shooting B class scores almost everytime and I have since moved up to B open. Classifiers are to be shot during a match and what you score is what you score, you should be able to deliver a score in your class when you are cold. I know lots of people that are classed much higher than thier ability because they shoot the classifiers over and over untill they get that perfect run (Grandbagging). I have no problem with going to B in fact I know that I can compete in B because I can deliver a B class score on demand because thats my true ability as of right now. I am now setting my sights on A class and I belive it will happen much faster then B did. I just shot my first over 70% classifier this month and I really felt good about that one.
  14. This month there was a stage with a cooper tunnel. At the stage brief everybody was told it was a 20% penality for going around the tunnel after watching a few shooters take 3-5 seconds to go through the tunnel I decided to go around. The average time to shoot the stage was 14- 16 sec. I did it in 12+ and would have won the stage if it wasn't for the 3 mikes I got. As it was I was 33rd in the stage. Somtimes taking the penality can give you a better hit factor if you shoot it good.
  15. I have two Open guns. The first gun has a Cmore on an alchin mount ( avatar ) it is a click switch. The other has a non-click switch serendipity on it. My question is why is the click switch Cmore very bright and the non-click switch not so bright. I noticed the difference as soon as the second gun got here about 2 months ago. I thought it might be the dot module so I replaced it with a new one and no difference. I held both guns side-by-side yesterday and there is a very noticable difference. I have old batteries in the first gun and put brand new batteries (2 # 357 energizers) in the second and it is still very noticeable. Is this something anybody has noticed any help would be great......
  16. Yeah if you could bring your own cart everybody would have one they cost less then my open gun
  17. If nobody rented them then the price would go way down. But most people don't care so the price is outrageous
  18. Yeah but when you say 200+ that means less then 250 or it would say 250+. Just makes me think it is going to be 5 or 6 really low round count stages. Like shoot 6 popers reload shoot 3 targets and stuff like that. With hotel and gas and food thats alot of money for something I can do at my home club.
  19. Yeah I know about the sectional. I was the Match Director
  20. We just put an open glock together for a friend. He will shoot his first match with it tomorrow. It is a 35 40cal but he wanted to do it on the gun he already had. It shoots great but not anywhere close to my Bedell or JL Hardy open guns. I belive he will shoot it for a while and then go to an STI platform in the end.
  21. Not Going this year. Had plans for june and when that fell through I am finished. It also makes me wonder about 12 stages with a 200+ round count. Going to be some pretty quick stages I bet. I don't think this will be up to par for an Area match.
  22. I once used a small propane torch (Walmart) to heat the comp and then blew out the lead with my air hose. Not recommended unless you are VERY carful where the molten lead goes.
  23. If you shoot hollow points you don't get the lead build up in the comp.
