  1. Looks alot like mine. I look forward to seeing it in action this comming weekend.
  2. Ok I see now he means production Ammo. Not paying attention.
  3. Am I wrong but I thought all production was minor only.
  4. Hey did you get that gun from Pat B. It looks like the one he had a DT.
  5. I also have a Bedell shorty in 38 super. Unlike everyone else I had some problems with mine when I first got it. But since I worked out the problems it is a great gun and runs like a hose. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another open gun from Dan. There are quite a few smiths that can build a great gun and if you look around you can find some awesome used guns.
  6. Write the check get the good stuff to start. It's so much cheaper to do it right the first time.
  7. HS-6 and N350 work very well. 3N38 takes a lot of powder
  8. FFP are cool but the works make them to heavy to carry around. A couple of years ago we changed our poppers so the popper is seperate from the base. We welded round stock to the botton of the popper (50 of them) then made the bases out of flat steel and angle iron. The bases weigh 12 pounds. We can now put 20 poppers in the trunk of a car. They are very steady in the wind ( Southern OK) and easy to move around. One day when there was no wind I set a couple very light and knocked them down with a 22. With the popper setting on the round stock there is no drag when you knock it over.
  9. They have been out of stock for the last 3 months. I have called and they keep telling me they will be in soon!!!!
  10. Being able to load up lots of rounds is a very valid point. I reload almost every week. I always have about a 1000 for each gun loaded just in case something happens to my reloader and I have to get parts. Hi Mark how are you and Tracy doin? Hope to see yall at Doubletap next year.
  11. If you shoot quite a few lost brass matches 9 mm major would be much cheaper. I don't however, and of the three major matches I do shoot I work as a RO at two so I get all my brass and lots of other peoples. It just gets my goat everytime someone says how much cheaper it is to shoot 9mm. But in the end it's your money and you should spend it how you want.
  12. I have a Bedell super and a JL Hardy 9mm. Brass costs the same with the 9mm because you don't pick it up so you have to buy brass all the time. I pick up my super so I get to reload it quite a few times before I lose it. I open a new box of super ( $175.00 2000 rounds) each year. If I reload it 10 times thats 20,000 rounds. If I do the same with the 9mm @ 8 bucks ( very good price) a 1000 then thats 160 bucks a year. The cost thing is hogwash ( If your lazy and don't want to pick up brass thats a different story). Now the JL Hardy gun is awesome it shoots as flat as anything I have ever shot. The Bedell is also a great gun and it's what I shoot most of the time I also don't get much rise out of it either. Your Choice.... If you have a local supply of cheap 9mm brass it's not that hard to load it to major but I wouldn't reuse the brass after a major power factor load . The 9 is cool and it's safe if you pay attention to the details. I use HS-6 in both guns and a Zero 124 JHP.
  13. Back in 87 I shot home cast lead in my 45. I got the lead for free so bullets were cheap ( 3 bucks a 1000). When I switched to 38 super open I used 160 gn lead bullets and they worked well in my open gun. Since then I have switched to jacketed and don't cast anymore. I still have all the stuff and a free source of lead but my time and health are a big concern now. If bullets keep going up I may have to start casting again ( NOT).
  14. I shoot open 100% of the time. Once a year we have the limited sectional and I break out my STI limited gun. I take it out and practice 2 or 3 times before the match. I took it out the other day and I was running the texas star in 5 shots almost as fast as I can with my open gun. When I draw the sights are just lined up everytime , im sure this is because you have to draw an open gun perfectly for the dot to be lined up. My splits are not as close with the limited but I get the hits and it's not the split that saves you time it the transition between targets. Most limited shooters give the open guys crap about the cheater dot but who wants to fly a prop aircraft when you can drive an F-15
  15. My wifes G-34 throws brass all over the place to include the top of her head and on the RO as well as to the side sometimes.
  16. You are using a chrono to check your loads Right. If so anytime you change components power factor will change. The load dosen't sound to be to hot.
  17. Thanks for the info JL. I was planning to use minor loads because the wife didn't like the sharp slap in the face she got from my open gun. This was when she first started shooting and she wasn't used to any guns recoil much less the slap that an open gun has. I took her to the range a few days ago and let her shoot some 140 pf loads in my super then bumped her up to my 170 pf loads and guess what , she said that she really could not tell any difference. So I have decided to go major with her also. PS JL could you PM me some good loads that you would recommend to start with.
  18. Remmington is the best as far as I am concerned. I buy it from Midway and the price is the best I have found. I think it is out of stock right now. I keep two boxes of 2000 rounds in my back stock brass. I open a new box about once a year.
  19. Want to know if anybody has painted a STI grip. What type of paint ,what type of prep before painting and how to apply. I was thinking of using model airplane paint with a primer and applying it with an airbrush. My wife wants a PINK grip. SHOW PICTURES OF YOUR WORK
  20. She likes the Glock and didn't want an open gun when she started , she didn't like the loud muzzle blast from mine ( said it felt like it was hitting her in the face). Once she shot her friends with the 9mm minor ammo she liked it because it wasn't as violent. I plan on starting with a load that just barley makes minor and start working her up to major a little at a time as she gets used to it. I have been using HS-6 in her Glock 34 (5.1 grns / 124 grn RN) and it is 125.7 power factor, it runs the Glock perfectly but I don't think it's going to be quite stought enouph for the open gun. I will just have to work up some loads and see what works.
  21. Well the wife is tired of her Glock and wanted an open gun ( after 5 matches ) so I just closed the deal on this JL Hardy 9mm Mongoose. Her best friend just got an open gun for Mothers Day so I knew it wouldn't be long before she wanted one. She is planning to shoot minor with it so it should be pretty tame for her little hands. Next will probably be Ladies camp.
  22. The ROs are not going to shoot the match. For that to happen the RO shoot dates had to be printed on the slots. I think thats a bunch of happy horse crap but thats the way it is.
  23. Great I wasn't sure that what I picked up was true 38 super or not.
  24. I have picked up quite a bit of starline brass marked 38 super on the headstamp. My question is does starline mark the super comp different. If not how can you tell the super from the comp. I have never bought any starline I have always bought rem/win.
  25. This is a copy of the email from TXIPSC: The word came down today from Ken Hicks that Area 4 will happen on Nov 30-Dec 3. See you at the range Keith Thats all I know
