  1. Looks like it will be Nov 30th thru Dec 3rd. Anyone plan on going?
  2. I unload and ALWAYS put the unloaded mag in my pocket, holster the gun and pick up any other mags go back to the bag and clean and reload my mags for the next stage. I have never grabed an unloaded mag during a stage ( Knock on wood). I do however sometimes forget to turn on my dot (HA HA).
  3. Doubletap could do it. Robert would need lots of help and I would be willing to help.
  4. I really don't care what I spend to shoot. My wife has always been supportive of my hobbies. She has just started shooting and her 3rd match will be next weekend. Yesterday we went to a friends house and she got upset with me because I passed up buying a 9mm open gun that my friend bought it for his wife instead. She told me that it would have been a perfect starter gun for our daughter to shoot ( she is 20 ). You do however have to put more important things before a hobby. As far as cost goes I buy in bulk so I can keep the cost down. I would rather write 1 big check each year then a bunch of smaller ones throughout the year
  5. I burned out about 8 years ago and quit shooting for a few years. I got into paintball with my son ( much more expensive then shooting) and we started playing with a sponsered team it was great. After I retired from the military we moved to Altus Ok for my new job and there was an USPSA club here so I started back and have found a renewed passion for the game but its only a game. Forcing yourself to practice and dry fire dosen't help, just take a break and do some catch-up around the house the drive to start shooting will come back.
  6. I picked up one from a prize table. I have used it for a month or so and it works great. The powder basket is kind of shallow so you have to be careful pouring in the powder but it works fine.
  7. Sorry John but I have to disagree. This is an elected slot you have to ask for it and if you want to take on the duties then you should do the job. The Clarks know when the match is and they don't have to be there for the range to be used. The hotels could have been worked out 6 months ago ( or even at last years match). The match has been on the same weekend for quite a while so you have to start early planning a match this large. When you have an Area Director that can't even answer emails this is a problem. I helped with an Area four match many years ago so I know how much work it is. I don't have the same problems like others with vacation time and money out of pocket, but it still bothers me because our group plan for this match every year and it's very dissapointing
  8. I had a feeling that something was going to happen to Area 4 this year.
  9. 04 at area 4 the second day it was pouring and we shot 4 stages. The water was two foot deep in one bay I reloaded my mags into my pocket because one guy lost one in the water. Local matches we just sit in the clubhouse and drink coffee. We have a night shoot every year and it rained so hard two years ago we had to cancel because all the electric cords were under water. Shoot in the rain? not if I can help it
  10. We have already talked about Ladies camp. I was thinking about the next one in Tuscon. We have family there so I could visit while she was at the range
  11. This past saturday my wife shot her first IPSC/USPSA match. She has never expressed much of an interest in the shooting sports or guns in general so this was a big surprise to me when she decided to give it a try. She (Ingrid) hasn't done very much shooting in the 25 years we have been married and she didn't get to do much practice before the match. We went out and she practiced for about an hour on wed, thur and fri. We had a 5 stage match of about 130 rounds with one classifier and she did great with no safety concerns, the classifier (strong and weak hand shooting w/5 mikes) and the two texas stars in the last stage ( she cleaned one before running out of ammo) were pretty hard on her. The best part is she had a great time shooting and has decided she wants to continue. I offered her a new Open or Limited STI but she likes how the Glock fits her hand ( and the weight) so her new Glock 34 should be here tomorrow or monday. I know some of the fourm members were at the match and I want to thank them for making her feel welcome. Now I have to worry about getting beaten by my wife. That sucks!!
  12. I use chainsaw bar and chain lube. It's sticky as hell and stays where you put it. Best part is it only cost a 1.99 a gallon (lifetime supply)

    A Riddle

This riddle was asked to both adults and kindergarden children. Only 20% of adults got it and 90% of the children got the right answer. What is greater than God More evil then the Devil Rich people need it Poor people have it If you eat it you will die. Answer will follow later
  15. Well I like it!! Now I have time to drive out to the range and get in some practice after work. It breaks up the week a little, going out to the range during mid week. Besides that it's only an hour.
  16. Hey Mark I had a blast with you and Tracy at DTC this past weekend. Look forward to doing it again. Don
  17. I tried using sharpies when I first started marking my brass but the marks would rub off during loading so I started using marks a lot markers and the marks don't rub off
  18. At one point this weekend it's a 90% chance of strong thunderstorms. Looks like the ROs are going to need rowboats to get to the stages. Next week looks better but not that much, there is still a chance of rain. I am going to bring 4 pairs of shoes just in case.
  19. Robert its awesome to have help. You are very lucky to have all those great guys to help out setting stages and working the matches.
  20. For a Glock I would keep one extractor
  21. 15.5 inches from the top of the powder measure to the top of the casefeeder and about 12 inches back. 37.25 from the bottom of the press to top of casefeeder.
  22. My casefeeder came in yesterday afternoon. I installed it last nite but had problems gettin it to insert the cases correctly (bounce back ). I was pretty tired so I just walked away and went to bed. Got up this morning had coffee and decided to go look at it again shazam found the problem in like two seconds readjusted and it now works like a champ. Take your time and read the directions and don't try installing it when you have been at the range all day setting up a match. This thing rocks.
  23. Its only 740.00 a sheet it was that much 3 or 4 years ago. We make a lots of steel targets for our club. This past year we made 50 8 inch plates that are captured in the stand and will not fall if you hit the stand. unless you have to have lots of stuff it might be better to just buy the rifle steel you need. You can use standard grade for pistols and it will be fine. We built two plate racks a couple of years back and they now have over a 100,000 ( very low estimate) rounds each and the plates are perfect. You also have to be very careful cutting the hard steel with a torch as you can detemper it and you have wasted your money. We use a plasma cutter.
  24. OH by the way DON'T use the large corn cob for bottle neck rifle cases. I had big problems with a load of 223 cases the stuff got stuck inside the cases and it was he-- to get it out.
  25. I use corn cob that I got at petco. I bought a 40 lb bag for like 23 bucks. It is larger then typical polishing media but works great. I have about a 10 year supply of media now.
